It's an incisive, intriguing, and ultimately moving look at America's ongoing socioeconomic collapse: The whole "kids streaming their first slow dance" thing is just one aspect of this rich and nuanced drama.

Although Finley, who previously directed the Emmy-winning Hugh Jackman drama “Bad Education,” doesn’t quite manage to sustain the film’s irreverent energy, especially during its more melancholic second half, he handily succeeds in delivering a piece of entertainment that is at once wildly out of this world and all-too-relevantly down to earth.

Although this is listed as sci-fi, the only sci-fi about it is the aliens used as an allegorical device. The bad reviews are those that don’t understand the purpose of an allegory. It a story to get you thinking and not purely to entertain. Some of the bad reviews are probably also people who did think about the underlying social commentary and didn’t like what it said about themselves. The R rating alone tells you that it’s something the MPAA doesn’t want people to see because they are made up of families like the Marsh’s.

A near perfect exploration of art, love, family, and the postmodern cooption of. I do not understand the lackluster response to this movie. This is scifi satire at its best and most cutting. I've seen folks say that its muddled, but I find it very cohesive. It brings up a lot of issues, sure. It ties them together without fail. Beyond that, it is BEAUTIFUL. Well acted. Funny and sad and compelling.

Based on the novel of the same name by M.T. Anderson, the third effort from the talented Finley (“Thoroughbreds,” “Bad Education”) features some impressively staged sequences and terrific performances, but awkwardly straddles the fence between biting social commentary and dark humor, never quite finding its footing and ending on a curiously flat note.

It’s a fascinating story to balance, and though it doesn’t always work, Finley really runs with the concept and its various themes. It’s safe to say there’s never a dull moment in the film, and it isn’t predictable in terms of what comes next.

Não há muito tempo para desenvolver o cenário apocalíptico, e toda a explicação fica por conta das legendas e dos quadros de arte, que resumidamente situam o espectador no cenário desolador de um mundo tomado pelas máquinas. E aí que entram os nossos jovens protagonistas, com destaque para o olhar doce de Asante Blackk e seu talento em criar arte mesmo nesse cenário de caos. Landscape with Invisible Hand, de Cory Finley, portanto, não é apenas uma obra cinematográfica; é uma exploração intrincada do papel da arte em nossa sociedade contemporânea, levando-nos a refletir sobre a autenticidade em um mundo cada vez mais dominado por influências digitais, uma vez que a Terra passar a ser controlada por extraterrestres que levam a sério o controle mediante uso de tecnologias, inclusive em programas educacionais. Talvez aí esteja um ponto de fragilidade no filme, pois não sabemos exatamente quem são esses extraterrestres, suas motivações, e como a história irá, no segundo ato, aproximar os humanos a eles, o filme acaba por revelar um problema de empatia à situação. No entanto, em se tratando da construção do protagonista, o filme cresce. O garoto está com uma simpatia incrível, e o filme consegue lhe impor personalidade, o que favorece, por exemplo, assistirmos ao seu romance, ponto crucial de virada da narrativa. Ele se encontra envolvido em um jogo complexo de relações, onde a autenticidade torna-se um fio condutor, não só da sua própria arte, mas dos coadjuvantes que se envolvem com ele (infelizmente nem todos os personagens são interessantes, por exemplo, o núcleo familiar da namorada é inserido com certo desleixo). Landscape with Invisible Hand is a 2023 American science styrical fiction film movie written and directed by Cory Finley (Thoroughbreds, Bad Education), based on the 2017 novel of the same name by M. T. **** film stars the young black man with artistic aspirations Asante Blackk as Adam Campbell and Kylie Rogers as Chloe Marsh as protagonist, both bellow average, through the role who really shines is from Tiffany Haddish as the matriarch Beth **** two younglins meet by the obsoleted (and soon to be closed school) and is invited to live in the basement of the Campbell family, that retained the house in a impoverished Erath where the rich sent to flying city to work (in minor jobs for the alien race, the Vuvvs) and the rest of the population lives in Earth receiving rations by the Vuvvs and living scavenging under impoverished **** Vuvvs observed the humans since the 50´ where they thought the human race was in their better era, and are tiny physically limited in Earth, where they use they technology and a funny clamp rushing to make sounds as language. Their "invasion" where peacefully as they had replicators for everything, also being able to reproduce more money that the richest of Earth to create a peaceful and Vuvv cultured servent species.Humans can use little technology pieces of metal in their heads that receive and transmits images and transmissions to the Vuvvs that are especially interested in paying to see real romance between humans (and to pay for it) - another satyre to apps like TickTock, Instagram, **** Styrical part here is obvious against capitalism and social levels. Maybe way too obvious but not into the source that was over simplified for the target audience. Maybe some more writing and adult plot would make the movie betters (I see why Brad Pitt is one of the producers and why he saw potential on this one).Maybe like the average "Big Bug" (2022, Netflix) from the magnificent and eccentric Jean-Pierre Jeunet that went under **** score: 6,0 out of 10,0 / C+

I hate this movie. I don't understand it at all or rather hate the aliens. They're just terrible caricatures. I think the story could have been told much better with not such weird looking aliens. It's still would have made the same points without it being so insanely weird. It had lots of potential and I totally get how the humans are acting, reacting, but the aliens themselves are just so unrelatable. I don't really understand what the writers, producers, director, were thinking. It could have been made so much more simply without the CGI of this really weird characters.
