Isle of Dogs

As wonderful as Fantastic Mr. Fox is, Isle of Dogs represents a leap forward for Anderson and his extensive team of stop-motion animators.

There is so much to look at in Isle of Dogs that a second viewing is almost mandatory. You can forgive its fetishism. Mania this dedicated deserves its due.

So lush with gorgeous detail it’s like a piece of highly-textured haute couture, there’s also a sharp social message behind the elaborate seams.

A barking mad shaggy dog story with imagination to spare. 13/10, would watch again.

This is by some measure Anderson’s weirdest concoction ever, in all sorts of good ways. And it probably counts as his most daring, too.

While Isle of Dogs is basically a fizzy, ornately mounted assembly of quirks and barks, the sheer artistry displayed—in everything from Alexandre Desplat’s taiko drum score to the occasional bits of stunning 2-D animation—is so expertly accomplished, and so clearly fueled by love, that you can’t help but grin.

Isle of Dogs does not have a compelling story, and even worse, it has the most egregious examples of its director’s privilege since “The Darjeeling Limited.” This movie really pissed me off, and the only thing I found soothing while watching it was silently repeating to myself “the dogs are very furry.” Reminding myself of the film’s best asset kept me from walking out.

The film Isle of dogs is a mediocre film for me however you have to give it some credit to them for the effort put in it and the seamless cinematography and high quality **** cinematography is amazing as it transitions smoothly and also sets the setting in each scene.Like how one part was when they were in a field and It transitioned to a dump and leter on it moves on to the **** animations are top notch as they breathe life onto the characters with life like expressions especially the dogs.What makes this movie which has great aspects to carry it fall is its **** plot while meant to be a comedic in nature fails to make an impact on the audience. Throughout the movie one can notice how the dialogue by characters are in Japanese while the Dogs speak in english and they are unable to communicate interspecies.I would like to think that Wes Anderson the director of the film does this in order to showcase that words arent needed in order to build a connection like in society’s case dogs and their best **** in all I would understand why people would rate this movie highly however in my opinion it is overall just ok.

“Isle of Dogs” is a hard picture for me to write about because during a lot of it I thought it would easily rate as one of the most boring movies of the year BUT the stop-motion animation is so intriguing that the story itself is irrelevant to what is being shown on the screen. I didn’t even try who was voicing what character because I was too busy looking at them. The story is really simple as basically all dogs are banished to a garbage dump island and a boy goes looking for the one who was his special pet. Upfront I am not a Wes Anderson fan and he wrote and directed this film but it is the animators who really deserve all the credit along with the production designers who make each dog expressive, interesting and fun to watch. Not mentioning names but I do know someone who saw it and fell asleep a few times more than he normally does—and, no, it’s not Allen! Unless you love dogs and animation “Isles of Dogs” is not a film for you.

"Isle of Dogs" delivers a boring and dull experience for young lings and teenager alike. The overall quality of the movie itself makes the experience presented rather blank. Not a recommended film.
