This is a pretty solid movie. While there's a few fantastic shots and lines, the acting is overall quite good, the score is wonderful, and it's clearly made with passion, it's rockily executed. The pacing of some scenes can be jarringly long, it quickly gets repetitive, and not nearly enough emphasis was put on the whole "magic and aliens" thing, especially in the third act which could have been much better. Overall, it's a film that's worth watching, especially with young kids, but with a repetitive action loop and a lack of the very magic it attempts to create, the viewer is left with the pervading feeling that it could have been so much better. Ambition and passion without execution, then.
