Do Revenge

Hawke and Mendes do a fantastic job of never giving the audience a clear person to root for. At first, their friendship seems inspired, as they unite against those who wronged them. But then it turns one-sided and toxic. And then it mutates into something else entirely.

Robinson's film is not without things to say, and the combination of a dialed-up Mendes and a dialed-in Hawke make receiving that message a fun, engrossing experience. It is, in other words, exactly what it set out to be, and with any luck, it'll be named alongside the titles it so admires on many a teen movie listicle to come.

Its outsized mean girl ruthlessness with a candy-coated shell, led by Mendes and Hawke’s commanding performances, is a biting, if overlong, good time.

Do Revenge, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, is a playful, sharp-fanged satire that feels like the ’90s teen comedy hammered into modern emojis: crown, knife, fire, winky face.

Mendes and Hawke bring a lot of depth and pathos to these characters, who gradually begin to wonder why they and their classmates are so fiercely dedicated to punishing each other.

A muddled mix of '90s teen flicks, curated for a new generation (with a Hitchcock premise swirled in), Do Revenge is a lukewarm high school vengeance tale that never settles on a tone and is barren when it comes to laughs.

This is a slick-looking film with a gorgeous cast and a sprinkling of funny one-liners, but the dark comedy often falls flat, nearly every character is a one-dimensional cliché and the redemption story defies credibility, even in a well-dressed social satire.

I don't understand what this one has to do with Godard, equally mentioned, but I can recognize when much of the plot is Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train" [1951] recontextualized in a teen movie. The era of "Animal House" (Landis 1978) is farther away than ever, this is meant to be a phenomenology of zoomers (someone wrote: "The 'Thelma & Louise' of Generation Z"). Unexpectedly positive (or hasty?) ending.

"Do Revenge" es una pelicula que si esta buena. Siento que la pelicula esta bastante bien y sus personajes tambien, por mas de su ridiculez. Tiene una trama muy cliche pero la forma en que la trean hace que puedas difrutarla bastante, aparte de los problemas tontos y la exageracion, los chistes pueden ser bastante graciosos y un poco cringe. La trama teiene un plot twist normal pero que por lo menos le da un giro a la pelicula. Los personajes se desarollan un poco aunque no creo que se pueda llegar a conectar con ellos porque son bastante vacios. Los colores me dan ganas de matarme, osea son demasiado coloridos y entiendo que es "la gracia" de lo absurdo y exagerado de la trama pero ME MATA. En conclusion, la pelicula esta bien para verla una vez y reirte con amigos. Pero no llega a hacer nada nuevo ni nada muy bueno, aunque por lo menos noto el esfuerzo de hacer algo disntino a lo que siempre nos dan en la industria del cine.
