Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever is still a greatly enjoyable entry in the animated adaptation landscape that mostly captures the essence of the novels. Most importantly, it doesn’t forget that kids’ insecurities can make them reckless and even unlikable, and that’s okay because, eventually, they’ll learn from their mistakes.

The animation, which does more with color than with character design, settings or sight-gags, is adequate, nothing more. Turn it on, leave the room and bake a pie. Maybe it’ll jump-start a small child’s interest in the books.

Rating: Acceptable! Why: Disney and 20th century finally have the guts to pull off a new story from the series, and that's Cabin Fever. They released it during December (Like they did with the others), but this one has to be the Christmas movie of 2023. Super movie!

This is the BEST diary of a wimpy kid animated movie. Why? Because it adapts a story from a book that has never really adapted into a movie so you can't really tell what they're gonna do to it. It also has heart and a solid story told well, as well as a few funny moments here and there. I think it's a good christmas movie for Disney+ and I would recommend.

I mean it's pretty ok to be honest. It had a good story and heartfelt moments and is kind of funny but it cuts like 70 percent of the books content and Greg doesn't act like his usually self but I don't mind that too much. It's better than the last 3 movies but still is miles from the great 2 og movies.

Let's be real, the latest Wimpy Kid movies on Disney+ have been pretty bad. They're compressed as all Hell from the books, have mediocre animation, and on the whole are fairly forgettable, dull movies. With that said, I've never quite HATED them per say- I don't think there's enough there TO hate. And the voice actors always do a fine job. But they're generally nothing especially worth remembering. But y'know what, credit where it's due, their adaptation of Cabin Fever is a legitimate improvement. While still suffering the usual problems, there's some actual heart here this time around. They actually bothered with trying to add something to an adaptation, with the ending especially improving upon the original book by being genuinely sweet. With that said, it's far from anything I'd call good- the flaws are still hefty enough to drag this film down considerably as an adaptation. But improvement is still something worth celebrating, even if I doubt this movie will exactly stick with me.
