While the underdog element of this tale is emotionally gratifying, it’s the humanity on unadorned display here that will move you beyond words.

It's a true winner and a genuine crowdpleaser, a human story told well through one incredible animal.

FABULOUS FILM! A real gem. No one swears. No one dies. But yet it's funny and tragic. Dramatic and peaceful. It's a cinematic gem in a sea of crud....

It is good in a lot of cadigorys and is very entertaining throughout. It may not be as good as other horse films like Seabiscuit. But it is still a great film that I recommend.

Americans seem uncommonly uncomfortable discussing our own class struggles. But, boy, do we love to watch the Brits do it. I think that's one reason the inspiring and joyful Dark Horse is such an appealing film.

Osmond knows how to present the citizens in a no-nonsense fashion that balances their day-to-day struggles and the parallel triumphs of their beloved horse.

The villagers, excitable everyday folks, make for capital interview subjects, and the filmmakers wring poignancy from re-enactments your brain knows are a little much but your heart may thrum to anyway.

I liked it because I love animal miracle stories. Don't Google Dream Alliance if you don't want spoilers. Yes, it's a true story related by 'characters' who know how to tell a shaggy-horse yarn all about the minority horse hob-knobbling his way into high society. It's a tribute to these talking heads that they were so engaging that many times I was quite verklempt. And I like the fact that it was a wee woman who put the syndicate together and made it work.

What a great story! 30 bar patrons chip in 10 pounds a week to breed a racehorse. And it only gets better. Unfortunately, the movie is not as good. At an hour and a half, it's stretched with filler. Would have made a great 50 minute TV show
