an unforgettable gem. the complicity between paul newman and robert redford reaches extraordinary heights: their individual charisma, their sharp dialogues, and the magnetism of their on-screen relationship end up merging into a single, unsurpassable personality. katharine ross completes the trio with naturalness and strength, providing a counterpoint that balances and enriches the synergy of the ensemble. george roy hill’s direction achieves moments of captivating rhythm, alternating sequences where comic spark prevails with others in which tension and drama dominate the atmosphere. although it is true that in certain passages the narrative lingers excessively—particularly in some chase scenes that seem to stretch longer than necessary—the overall impression is that of a story sustained by the strength of its characters and the meticulousness of its staging. visually, the cinematography offers compositions of great appeal, where light and landscapes help enhance the experience. the unforgettable soundtrack runs through the film with moments that invite the audience to let themselves be carried away by its vitality, while at the same time reinforcing the identity of the work until it becomes an indispensable companion. ultimately, 'butch cassidy and the sundance kid' represents not only a brilliant and daring narrative exercise within its genre, but also stands as a fundamental piece of modern cinema. some viewers may find it slow in certain sections, or even somewhat uneven in its development, yet none of this overshadows the fact that we are faced with a classic, unforgettable work that remains engraved in the collective memory of film history. spanish: una joya inolvidable. la complicidad entre paul newman y robert redford alcanza cotas extraordinarias: su carisma individual, sus diálogos afilados y el magnetismo de su relación en pantalla terminan fundiéndose en una sola personalidad que resulta insuperable. katharine ross completa el trío con naturalidad y fuerza, aportando un contrapunto que equilibra y enriquece la sinergia del conjunto. la dirección de george roy hill consigue momentos de un ritmo envolvente, alternando secuencias donde prima la chispa cómica con otras en las que la tensión y el dramatismo dominan la atmósfera. aunque es cierto que en determinados pasajes la narración se recrea en exceso, especialmente en ciertas escenas de huida que parecen prolongarse más de lo necesario, la sensación general es la de un relato que se sostiene con solidez gracias a la fuerza de sus personajes y al cuidado de su puesta en escena. visualmente, la fotografía regala composiciones de enorme atractivo, donde la luz y los paisajes contribuyen a potenciar la experiencia. la banda sonora, inolvidable, atraviesa el metraje con momentos que invitan al espectador a dejarse llevar por su vitalidad y que, al mismo tiempo, refuerzan la identidad de la obra hasta convertirla en un acompañamiento indispensable. en definitiva, 'butch cassidy and the sundance kid' no solo representa un ejercicio narrativo brillante y atrevido dentro de su género, sino que también se erige como una pieza fundamental del cine moderno. puede que algunos espectadores la perciban como pausada en ciertos tramos, o incluso algo irregular en su desarrollo, pero nada de ello opaca el hecho de que estamos ante una obra clásica, inolvidable y que continúa grabada en la memoria colectiva del cine.

A movie I've seen a dozen times, part of the way through. Finally finished the whole thing, especially the last 1/3, which I usually don't get to. I can see why. Redford and Newman are as charismatic as two movie stars can be; this is the peak. They literally defined the buddy movie, as their chemistry was off the charts. Katherine Ross was fine as Sundance's girl, but the movie never really explored how Butch handled being the third-wheel -- just fine, I guess. They are a few other excellent acting performances (e.g., the guy who played the sheriff crushed his one scene) and the cinematography and costuming was out of this world. However... ...the movie was too shaggy and loose for me. That's part of its charm, I guess, but it just kind of ambled along and towards the end, when Butch & Sundance were searching for what to do, I kind of searched for why I should care. Because it's Redford & Newman, I suppose, but I wanted more. The tone of the movie was glib, which could be quite charming (the script by William Goldman gave the plenty of memorable and clever lines) but seemed out of sorts at the end. Seemed like a movie you'd only think of as a Best Picture type if all you want is movie star charisma or you're really high and like looking at vast soundscapes and silly musical montages. A memorable, but overrated, film.

Very good movies, recommendable and interesting...
It has special shots that do not disappoint the public.
What makes this film special is its light-hearted tone and the chemistry between its protagonists, which makes it a story more focused on friendship than on the typical violence of a western.
The ending is legendary: a frozen scene that leaves the fate of the protagonists up in the air, turning them into legends In short, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a western

I really enjoyed this film - its a classic biopic, with great performances from Paul Newman and Robert Redford as the titular characters. This isn't a western film, like I maybe accidentally assumed it to be, although it does have a western feel to it. Its not full of action, though there is plenty of that at times. Its a good character driven drama, with some very witty dialogue and some quite amusing scenes, plus some reasonably tense moments too. I could have done without the montage mid way through shot in old fashioned brown - with music playing over still shots but I guess it helps tell the story of what isn't being shown on screen, namely the two criminals travelling to Bolivia. I found the incidental music played in the background a short while later quite amusing too. I was surprised how entertaining and amusing this was really. Also I can't not compliment it on the great wide landscape shots. The cinematography certainly isn't bad. Given this film dates from 1969, it stands up quite well and I'd certainly recommend this.

I know there are people who love or don't like this film, but I am one of those who loves it. It is a different kind of western, but in my mind, that is not a bad thing, quite the contrary. I loved the first ten minutes, that was very clever and refreshing. The cinematography is fabulous, doing perfect justice to the beautiful scenery. The score is suitably jaunty, and the Raindrops Falling on My Head interlude is a wonderful touch and quite moving come to think of it. The script is witty and infectious, not to mention memorable, and the direction and pace I had no problem with either. Robert Redford and especially Paul Newman are perfect as the charismatic outlaws and their chemistry is simply unforgettable. All in all, just a great movie and one of my favourites of the genre. 10/10 Bethany Cox

Beyond Clint Eastwood and John Wayne there were Robert Redford and Paul Newman when were young and fab. The supposedly true story about bandits, train robbers and their search for new horizons and places to steal. The plot has an appeal that does not expire until the last minute and leaves us in doubt as to whether our heroes survive or not. For binge while the home arrest.

people kept robbing it.. Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid The chemistry between the lead characters is the key to this feature that breeds soft moments in this hardcore western world where everything is fair. George Roy Hill's brilliant execution skills helps this feature sail off to the shore smoothly where a bit more editing would have done no harm. Robert Redford and Paul Newman are convincingly good in their sibling sort of relation and carries it all on their shoulder. Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid being a character driven feature has brilliant performance, execution and character development in it but unfortunately lacks a gripping screenplay that may allow the audience to drift off once in a while.

Nobody can argue with how great Redford and Newman are together in this film. Their interaction makes them so funny and charming that it would be difficult to not root for them, regardless of the fact that they are bank robbers. However, the movie has a strange pace, and even stranger music. The "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" sequence seems really out of place and will definitely remind you that you are watching a movie. It's certainly not a bad movie, but it is difficult to see why it is regarded as such a classic considering other movies that are usually mentioned alongside it.

Newman and Redford's chemistry will seep out of the TV and onto the of your living room in "Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid," William Goldman and George Roy Hill's love letter to the beautifully rustic charms of the American Old West. With an iconic score and an equally iconic slew of images, the film is sure to please both Western geeks and casual moviegoers alike. It's got sass, wit, blisteringly funny moments of levity, and a rightful place on the brighter side of film history.

A film that has rightly become a classic. An anti-western with the heroes on the run for most of the film, it broke the mould in how westerns were being made. Great performances from Newman, Redford and Ross, beautifully shot and told, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" is great viewing again and again and again.

Really good film. The chemistry between Paul Newman and Robert Redford is infectious as one picks up right where the other left off the entire film. It was also unexpectedly quite funny, as the one liners were just priceless and show why the screenplay has received so much praise and why it deserves all of that praise. As with most of these classic westerns, the cinematography and set pieces were phenomenal and in this one, the action sequences were great and incredibly intense. The chase sequences were also great and I love how we are kept in the dark as to who is following them, just as they do not know. While I loved this, there were some definite negatives. First of all, there was no real plot, other than focusing on the exploits of Butch and Sundance, though it does not really go anywhere. Not a major complaint, but a complaint nonetheless. Another small complaint would be the pacing, as at times it got a tad too slow, but throughout much of the film, the slow pace was never that much of a problem. My main complaint would be Katharine Ross. Her acting here, in my opinion, was just flat out bad. I never really bought into her character and she was severely outclassed by her two legendary castmates.

Not a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed and aside from the chemistry of the two stars I felt no genuine force driving me to continue watching said piece from an entertainment standpoint, however from a cinematic stand point one can see why it is consider one of the classics. So on a personal level I feel a 6.5 is more than appropriate for this uneven farce, however on the Poe scale it does score an 8. Acting: 1.5/2 Cinematography: 2/2 Editing: 1.5/2 Effects and Design 1.5/2 Writing: 1.5/2

This movie shows us that a western film can be entertaining and intriguing without a bad ass main character that wins 3:1 gunfights. Its a slow pace experience that keeps you curios and makes you laugh with certain scenes and events.

The plot with the slow pace and elegant design the best thing in the movie, the main characters, who are perfectly played by Redford and Newman,, conveying to the viewer a relationship of equilibrium and friendship between them

Infamous Wild West robbers, do one too many robberies, authorities come after them, move to Bolivia, same again.
A fantastic "buddy" film making two legendary criminals very like-able. Paul Newman is the charming schemer whilst Robert Redford the pretty but deadly one. Superb chemistry between the actors make this fun & of course the ending is moving & iconic.
Not the grittiest of Westerns but a really entertaining watch.
