Dog-lovers, in particular, will go ga-ga for this, but this remarkably fresh and funny period tale (set in England, fact fans) has all the ebullience and lovability of its titular characters.

This was the last Disney animated feature that Uncle Walt lived to see through personally; it can't be a coincidence that it's also the last Disney animated feature of real depth and emotional authenticity.

Cruella De Vil is so much a tour de force that she single-handedly snatches the movie away from any retroactive comparisons to the likes of The Rescuers or Robin Hood or any of the other post-classical Disney features whose sloppiness is their only saving grace.

A generally cozy and sentimental little yarn about a nice young English couple, their brood of dogs and a lady dognapper who collects Dalmatians to make coats. It's a rather clever idea, if a bit unsettling.

However much the film breaks with Disney tradition, it’s still a winning effort that mixes cuteness with dry wit in the service of a fast-paced, emotionally charged adventure tale.

The story, a romance with an interesting detective twist, is combined with exquisite caricatures of both humans and dogs.

While not as indelibly enchanting or inspired as some of the studio’s most unforgettable animated endeavors, this is nonetheless a painstaking creative effort.

This movie is amazing because the animation is so realistic and different; some of of the color is outside this lines and you can still see some pencil lines. In the art department... totally would give it a six star if I could. As far as character development and character personality, you can totally feel what they feel and see the sadness or happiness in their faces. The animation is so impeccable and moving that you can relate to the characters and see their points of view. So as far as the characters this movie, again, six stars. And of course we have the villain. Cruella DeVil is such an easy person to hate and loathe, and that is what makes her such a great villain. She doesn't waver or switch sides and sometimes that would be great, but in this case her pure evilness ties the whole movie together. So villains, this round you get five stars. Overall, this movie would get six stars. Amazing job, Disney.

Woof! Dog lover or not, One Hundred And One Dalmatians is definitely a barking good time.

101 Dalmatians is a disney classic that makes people love dalmatians and when I say dalmatians I meant with an A instead of an O. The villian is memorable and her name is Cruella De Vil and all she wants to do is shen wants the puppies and made them out of coats. Jasper and Horace who is one of my favorite characters and they're the ones who stole the puppies and they need to get the job done before the police gets them. Roger who sings Cruella De Vil thinks shes evil and chase scene at the end really is cool. And speaking of which there are no songs apart from one. That's all I can say about it. There are loads of characters for you to enjoy and good luck.

Chapter 3: Witty Writing and Rich Characterization What truly elevates 101 Dalmatians is its characters and dialogue. Pongo and Roger’s dry, understated humor makes their bond feel real and grounded. The interactions between the humans and animals are clever and often genuinely funny. There's subtle social satire here—especially in the way it pokes fun at city life, television, and vanity culture.Even the puppies feel distinct in personality, despite being part of a massive pack. And the supporting animal characters—like Colonel, Sergeant Tibbs, and the old sheepdog Danny—add texture and warmth to the journey. Chapter 4: Cruella Steals the Show Cruella de Vil might be Disney’s most fashionably deranged villain, and easily one of the most memorable. Her look, voice, and manic energy are perfectly exaggerated, and she never becomes boring. She’s as fun to watch as she is awful—and she never overstays her welcome. Unlike other villains with complex motivations, Cruella’s singular obsession with fur is so ridiculous it becomes iconic. Final Thoughts 101 Dalmatians doesn’t rely on a grand moral or a sweeping emotional arc. It wins you over with clever storytelling, strong pacing, unique visual style, and some of the most charming characters in Disney’s lineup. It’s not flashy, but it’s incredibly confident in what it wants to be—and in many ways, that’s what makes it endure. 9/10 — A witty, stylish, and surprisingly grounded Disney classic with real staying power.

A mad mistress gathers spotted puppies, including a freshly-stolen litter of fifteen from a small metropolitan family, to harvest their pelts and produce a line of fur coats. When the lost pups' furry folks send out a distress call, half the hounds of London take the case and a great chase begins. The theme and tone are fitting for a Disney picture, retaining some of the fantasy elements that first brought the studio to fame, while continuing the lean in a slightly darker direction that would continue throughout the next thirty years. Disney Animation had to cut some corners to make this one, after Sleeping Beauty under-performed at the box office, and many of those cost-saving measures show in the finished product. Xeroxed and reused character animations are abundant, artwork often seems rushed and over-simplified, and the extensive use of rotoscoping is distracting. One Hundred and One Dalmatians is a very short film, running just an hour and nineteen minutes with credits, and the story suffers for that brevity: villainess Cruella De Vil's great comeuppance seems short-lived and inconsequential, while the focal family's happy reunion comes off as narrow and happenstance. There's also very little music in the picture, surprising considering the human father's occupation as an always-working composer, which makes for a less jolly, wholesome vibe than one might expect. It isn't bad - the core characters are charming and they're aided by a full, well-rounded supporting cast - but it does seem terribly shallow and borderline incomplete. The beginning of a difficult transition away from the days when the studio was churning out classics every other year.
