Yu Yu Hakusho - Ghost Files: Spirit Detective
The popular Japanese anime gets butchered here, and the in-game characters seem to have been modeled after the developers' nose goblins. [Mar 2004, p.93]
There are a few great moments in the game that fans of the series will truly enjoy, but these moments are scattered far and between to make gamers want to stick with the game for a long period of time.

A compass points to your current objective, but it's still easy to get lost in the game's complex levels. [Mar 2004, p.121]

Don't get me wrong,Yu Yu Hakusho is a amazing show. But this game does the series SO DIRTY. It's so hard to find where you going because of the objectives like "Find the boy" when the game never shows you or even hints to you that's all you get. The graphics aren't very good, and that's not even the GBA, because have you looked at Mother 3 or Metroid Fusion those games look so good. So over all not very good 1/10 -coryinthecrib2

I was even less impressed by the game's fighting system. There isn't an ounce of technique involved. Just walk up to an enemy and rapidly punch it until it goes down.

An insult to gamers and anime fans alike. With its charismatic cast and open-ended, special-agent plot device, Yu Yu Hakusho is a prime franchise for videogames, but judging from this rush job, the developer and publisher don’t seem to recognize this.

Both the fighting and exploration are poorly executed, and the visuals look like they leapt right out of a medium-quality NES title. [Jan 2004, p.76]

It's pure boredom harnessed in cartridge form. [Feb 2004, p.128]

First off the critics are just stupid. why would they expect this game to have amazing graphics and a amazing combat system. It's a freakin GBA game not a console game. there are four buttons to use so why would they say the combat system is boring and repetitive. You can punch and use spirit attacks, thats pretty much what I'd expect yes the game could have been a bit longer but it does a good job of giving the player the main theme of the anime.
