A small tactical game that plays well and looks good. If you like XCOM and you don´t have a problem with more stereotypical missions and sometimes a bigger role of RNG, you will probably like it. [Issue#304]

It’s a fantastic, albeit rushed, XCOM for beginners. And a whole lot of freshness in the franchise. [07/2020, p.43]

I do not regret the time I spent playing Chimera Squad, but it’s a definite downgrade compared to the excellent XCOM 2: War of the Chosen.

It still is a XCOM game, albait somewhat brutalised and perverted. Pros:
- some interactions between characters are funny and witty
- every character has an unique set of skills
- XCOM vibe
- balancing the "chaos meter" of a city and a feeling of a danger Cons:
- bland and unengaging story with no need of progression
- the game just ends
- everything is simplier not in a good way
- small amounts of firearms
- repetitive locations and missions

Chimera Squad continues the XCOM story well and keeps the research trees I enjoy from the series. The addition of named squad members with their own special abilities was a nice touch too, giving each character more personality than the usual anonymous soldiers. That said, the gameplay got repetitive fairly quickly, and I really missed the base building and resource management from the mainline games. Stripping out the loop of killing aliens, harvesting their gear, and selling it on took away a lot of the strategic depth that made the earlier entries so replayable.Solid but slight. 6/10.

Un Xcom que me encontré sin buscar y fue muy grata la sorpresa.
Lo que menos me gusta es que puedes llevar poca gente a la batalla que tiene otros puntos originales que lo compensan.

Xcom: Chimera Squad is proof positive that Firaxis are masters of the genre. The perfect starting point for newcomers, yet featuring enough depth for franchise vets, there is no reason to skip this title, especially at its bargain price.

XCOM: Chimera Squad is yet another fantastic addition to the 25-year-old franchise’s quality lineup of titles, delivering a new suite of mechanics that bring a whole new dimension of strategy to its already addictive combat.

An amazing game with great characters I don't know why it's getting review bombed

XCOM Chimera Squad is a brillant spin-off which introduces a huge list of fresh new ways to play. AI and difficulty level are not perfectly balanced, but fun is guaranteed.

XCOM: Chimera Squad is essentially the Agents of Shield to XCOM 2’s Avengers. It gently plays with the formula, and tells the peripheral stories of a much wider world on a much tighter budget and with much smaller stakes. In other words, it’s XCOM but chilled – and, in these desperate times, that’s just fine.

This lovely little spin-off is going to alienate very few people. A cheap as chips production that pares 25-years of a bloated XCOM back to a purer and leaner form. Like Rocky Balboa in, well, all of them. Granted the production values and polish is wanting, but the more intimate squad feel and new Breach mechanics became hopelessly addictive the more I played. And when it comes to XCOM, that’s enough for it to feel like a direct hit.

XCOM: Chimera Squad is a good surprise with some interesting good news mechanics. However, it gives the impression of a quick release for stand up Gears Tactics.

To me this is an incongruent vision of the series where you have snake squadmates and meaningless banter instead of worldbuilding and replayability. It’s fine as a one-off, slightly fun but buggy (hopefully non-canon) entry, but if this signifies the future of the franchise, I am worried.

Excellent tactics game that successfully iterates on the XCOM formula. Great additions include the interleaved turns, unique characters, and general "feel" of the game. The fact that this game is selling for $10 is an absolute steal. Side note: Please be aware that a vast majority of negative reviews for Chimera Squad are from alt-right whiners who think that having aliens on your squad somehow is a "SJW" ploy. Their weird, projected racism on to aliens that don't actually exist should be proof enough that this game rules. After all, anyone who makes the worst dregs of the Internet mad is doing something right.

A good introduction to the XCOM series. For beginners, it removes operations that can make you feel bored or overwhelmed, so you can enjoy easy, fun combat with less depth.

+ Good graphics, easy combat system, fun to play. - It gets repetitive and boring pretty fast, very simplified, you have just a few upgrade or research options, small amount of hardware

It's a serviceable game. But you should just play XCOM 2 and not bother with this awkward step sideways for the franchise.

A spin-off, and a spin, on XCOM basics. XCOM 2 with a twist of mechanics which I dislike. It felt boring, all of the mini-games of the previous game, and the feeling of a worldwide campaign have been lost. Now you are some kind of special ops team in a city, chasing **** feels like a money-grabber and a way to test different stuff before the release of the next big sequel, and I hope the XCOM 3 does not follow this spin-off's guidelines. I couldn't keep playing, repetitive, strategically simple. it just does not feel like XCOM.Sorry, commander.
SummaryXCOM: Chimera Squad delivers an all-new story and turn-based tactical combat experience in the XCOM universe. After years of alien rule, humanity won the war for Earth. But when the Overlords fled the planet, they left their former soldiers behind. Now, five years after the events of XCOM 2, humans and aliens are working together to forg... Read More
