Mechanicus 2 is a sequel that boasts solid, tactical turn-based combat. However, the sheer length of the campaign makes frequent skirmishes an annoying grind, while your strength grows very slowly and a significant jump only comes when you research large units.

A solid and engaging turn-based tactics game that doesn't have any major flaws but, at the same time, doesn't really stand out.

Warhammer: Mechanicus 2 is extremely lore accurate, with incredible writing and voice acting. However, with no real consequences to combat it became repetitive very quickly. It was great being able to see the story from the side of the Necrons, however, with two 30-hour campaigns, there was not enough to keep me enthralled.

Even on normal difficulty it's an absolute slog game throwing enemy units around the battlefield just to feel "challenging" and everything on the campaign is on rails with some barebone decisions,t. Barely any unit's customization some stupid bonus every time to empower your leader unit. As far as people saying it runs like , I can't speak for that. Some of the loading screens can be longer than they should be by rights. It's just NOT a good game feels more like a cash-grab. Also don't expect the epic music that was in the first game.

Sequel number 2 is a downgrade in many ways, a sidegrade in others but it's honestly neither worth full price or a campaign in its current state which is seemingly entirely linear with the exact same missions play out the exact same way every time with enemeis having the tendency to overwhelm player from all sides. Played the original last week so i was really looking forward to this sequel and willing to give it a chance. That goodwills gone now that every single one of my saves has been replaced by the prologue. Halfway through each campaign and every save now brings me to the very first mission. I will ask for a refund.

What a disappointment. Game is inferior in almost everything compared to the prequel. Graphics are now WORSE with horrible cartoony graphic style animations everywhere yuck! There is also a problem with the graphic engine it's unoptimized and a resource hog. The gameplay became simpler but now feels like a casual game made for little kids to enjoy. This is a travesty compared to the first game. Not recommended.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II is a slick, compelling tactical action RPG that focuses on hectic, chaotic combat and building out a world with genuine conflict. Each faction has its own unique feel to it, and you'll certainly want to experience both of them. There's not a ton that Mechanicus II is doing to stand out in a crowded genre, but the compelling world of Warhammer and smooth combat more than make up for that. Warhammer fans absolutely must check it out immediately, but newcomers to the franchise are also going to have a great time.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II smartly builds on the strengths of the first game, delivering a tactical experience with a dark atmosphere, strong combat, and an engaging dual campaign. The initiative system during battles, fully voiced dialogue, and varied Leaders add plenty of tactical depth and keep the progression satisfying throughout the game. Although the two playable factions feel less distinct than expected and some targeting issues can be frustrating, it remains a strong turn-based strategy game that will provide many enjoyable hours for fans of Warhammer 40,000 and tactical combat.

Lovely game. If you’re not into Warhammer or the Adeptus Mechanicus — like some reviewers seem not to be — then it’s probably more of a 7–8/10 experience. But if you love Warhammer, it’s absolutely worth the **** only semi-negative is that the music feels less like a centerpiece compared to the first game. Otherwise, I really like the direction the game is taking, and I’m glad it isn’t just a direct copy of the original.

A great tun based combat game and an overall improvement from the first entry. The best feature are the Necrons as playable faction. The factions all feel very different and the general gameplay mechanics are still fun and engaging. The game is rather easy to learn and it is very fun to unlock new units and explore some combinations. The story is decent but probably only interesting for 40k fans. The Xcom like planet warfare could be a bit more indepth but overall it is a great turn based game that can be modified to be extremly hard or quite easy. One downside is the missing option for like an skirmish planet fighting mode and therefore the replayability is not that high. Artstyle and soundtrack are superb and can match games with a much higher production value. An absolute recommendation for 40k fans or fans of the included factions, and also definitly worth a try for players that like turn based combat

Mechanicus 2 is a decent strategy game, but the original was a vibe, as the kids say—if the kids spent a lot of time playing turn-based tactics games where cybernetic zealots fought robot mummies.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II introduces Nekrons as a playable faction, offering a continuation of the narrative. While the game presents many excellent ideas and challenging moments, its implementation often falls short. Hero progression feels slow, especially for Nekrons, who also suffer from less engaging mechanics and narrative integration compared to the Adeptus Mechanicus. Missing Codex entries, a lack of keyboard shortcuts, and an overall sense of incompleteness detract from the experience.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II feels like a safe sequel. It dives into the 40K lore really good, but the gameplay, once you sort yourself out with a solid squad tends to be pretty repetitive.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II is a game with pretty obvious flaws that won’t deter fans of the franchise already, but the glacial pace, lack of variety, and limited selection of music may make this hard to swallow for others. There is a “rustic” charm to it as someone who grew up on PC games like this, and it does provide an interesting Warhammer experience even as someone who’s only glanced at the wider property. If you do want to take up arms, the presentation, art, visuals, and well-realized cast, combined with a fairly modular experience, could provide dozens of hours of fun.

Mechanicus 2 has plenty for Warhammer fans to enjoy, but fails to live up to the great turn-based tactics games of yore.

I wish I liked it more but a combination of **** launch day issues and design choices mean I'm very on the fence with this sequel. The launch day issues I'm sure will be patched, I personally didn't have any performance problems but the integration of music (charging again to include the old OST? come on...) and Lingua Technis (half-assed in cut scenes, weirdly doubles and triples the same sound sequences out of it) really killed the vibe which carried the first game for me. Add to that the shift into missions being linear and combat all about a hero unit with little squads of cannon fodder and just not doing it for me. That's not to say I think it's a bad game, just left me thinking it was very mid and there's a lot of good games releasing that I'd be having more fun with.

SummaryFast-paced tactical combat meets strategic management in this sequel to the acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus. Take control of either the ancient and deathless Necron legions or the techno-religious acolytes of the Omnissiah, with the fate of a world in your hands.
