Trover Saves the Universe has everything High on life does but just does it a bit worse. Good Game. 9/10.

I love this game. The humor is ingeniously tailored to the VR experience. It makes fun of videos games, makes fun of the player, makes fun of itself. It's a hilarious game. And the gameplay is considerably fun, albiet pretty basic. I didn't encounter a single technical issue. It felt well polished. Only complaint is that it felt a little short-- there's a DLC (dingle lickin' cult) on the way-- and not being able to save separate games.

I really enjoyed this game. In my opinion the dialogue is the best part of this game and the comedy really lands for me. However, I could totally understand how it might be a bit much for some people as it is basically Rick and Morty at it's raunchiest but nonstop. The visuals are also very nice and immersive. The gameplay and story are the most lacking aspects of this game, although they are a servicable vehicle for this short comedic experience.

Had a lot of fun with this game, loved it on VR and made me laugh on several occasions, the game doesn't feel longer than necessary so it's 100/100

#DashReviews Trover Saves the Universe is a 3D platforming hack and slash game made by the co-creator of Rick and Morty. With a few smaller games under his belt, this is the studios first full-length game. Borrowing heavily from the Rick and Morty style and improve humor, will this game fall under the shadow of the successfully TV show or does this game have charm of its own? You play as two characters throughout this adventure, a chairopian, a creature that just sits around and has a controller (the self-insert player character) that’s got his dogs stolen by a weird bird creature named, Glorton that wants to stick the dogs in his eyeholes to make him all powerful. The chairopian has the job of controlling the eyehole monster named Trover, he is forced to help you get your dog’s back to save the universe. Roll credits. It’s a weird story that mostly told through improv humor. There are certainly some funny moments throughout the story but some characters and situations can get annoying and grating in a few parts. Some jokes are repeated over and over again and some are just straight up crude and vulgar without having any joke to support it. There a lot to love about Justin Roiland’s humor but a bit more variety in the jokes and a tighter script might have helped the story. The gameplay is one of the most fun aspects of Trover, especially when experienced in VR. The hack and slash and platforming mechanics are as simple as they come but they work well and there is a lot of fun to be had mowing down the many Rick voiced enemies and exploring the landscape. There are a few more complex mechanics near the end like throwing items to help Trover or heavy swing attacks, I just wish they did not wait ‘til the last few hours to put these things in the game. Enemies get repetitive around this time as well since the new attacks near the end are underutilized. This is remedied by the VR and how you play in this style but non-VR player will likely get bored of this game faster. There is free DLC coming soon to this game so hopefully, it will use the new attacks to its full advantage later. After you beat the story mode, there is not much in the way of replay value other than getting all the collectibles, another good distraction if you are playing a VR and want to see everything. It’s a solid 8-hour experience but it's lacking in variety and could have been a bit longer if said variety was put in. The game's world is really cartoony and fun to look at. It looks great graphically and runs at a smooth frame rate with no technical issues. There are short load screens that only appear once in a blue moon. The soundtrack is mediocre, most songs don’t stand out. There's not much more to say other than this game runs great. Trover Saves the Universe is a great starting point for Justin Roiland’s game studio. It has many fun ideas and concept with the only problem is that some of these ideas are not fully realized (unless that’s for the free DLC). Some humor is repetitive and stale but there are many great moments too. The base game can be a bit too simple and boring without the help of VR. If you plan to buy this game, I only recommend this game to those who like Justin Roiland’s humor and have a VR headset. If this sounds like a game for you, you can’t go wrong since the game is only priced at $30. Without VR I would give this game a 6/10, slightly above average but with VR it’s an easy 7/10. Pros: +Fun World to Explore +VR exploration and combat +Funny story moments +$30 Price Point +Free DLC Cons: -Repetitive and Vulgar With No Context Humor -State game without VR -Lack of Enemy Variety - Weapons are underutilized

This plays like if Rick and Morty had a baby with Conkers Bad Fur Day. Crude but funny jokes, same platform double jump/hovering levels. The only thing is that the jokes are repetitive and the game is super easy and short. You can beat it about 6-7 hours and nab yourself an easy platinum trophy while you do it. I tried the dlc right after I beat the game but was already too bored of the gameplay by then to continue, so I gave up. I waited for the game to drop in price (I think it was 40%) when I bought it, bringing it just over $20 Canadian, which was still too much. It'd be a fun pick up if you get for under $10.

Excellent game! If you are a fan of Rick & Morty you’ll love this game, even if you are not it’s still a hysterical take on a game from the minds of Rick and Morty! My ONLY criticism would be is it left me wanting more! It was a little short about 5-6 hours depending on how fast you move through it, that being said you can’t beat it for the price 10 out of 10!

This game is not for everybody. People who are offenced with this game don't se irony and sarcasm which was part of the concept. The plot is not complicated, the whole game concept is simple. I played normally without vr but thad did not make a problem. Language is strong in game and humor is rather dark. I give 7 becouse few things could be changed.

I rated 10 if i were in a dimension where I didn't have watch Rick and Morty because Roiland did the whole game by himself and ofcourse he did the Rick's and Morty's voices and that was for me as if i have a confused boner. Beside that the show's jokes are repeated in the game. But as a first game a mazing job

This game is a great deal of fun! The humour is classic Rick and Morty style and the gameplay has been done perfectly to work with VR. I will say that, if you're playing it in the non VR mode the game suffers not only in gameplay but also the graphics. I played the non VR version for a bit when i was a bit tired and didn't want to wear the headset, and you could immediately tell this game was made for VR specifically. The non VR graphics look really weird and all the colours look wrong. I'd say this is a must for anyone who owns PSVR but maybe not for those who don't, despite there being a non VR mode to play.

This is a great game that likes to tease you as you play. The character you control, a 'Chairopean' is a lazy guy who never gets out of his armchair and controls other people with a control pad. Hmm. Also, characters in the game constantly break the fourth wall, and sometimes the voice actors seem to forget their lines or ad-lib or burst out laughing. At one point, Trover berates you for killing an important NPC and ruining the game, and tells you to start again from the beginning. All in all this adds up to a really fun game, and as other reviewers have said, you can just wander around and listen to the ridiculous dialog. The VR mode doesn't really add a lot, I found my self playing it on a regular screen after a while.

This is literally the worst game i've ever played, ever. Period. And i love Rick and Morty btw. The experience of playing this game is literally this 'you are handicapped and everything is awkward and clunky, Dan Harmon wants you to know that he doesn't care about voice acting, the 4th wall, and he thinks video games are stupid and you're stupid for liking them. Justin Roiland wants to be somewhere else doing drugs. I got 3 hours into the game and made a beeline back to gamestop to return it. I've never felt so insulted as a player.

so incredibly funny, its even difficult to play, because you'll want to just stand still half the time, waiting for every single character read out all their lines before moving. damn, even the trophies are funny, beautful graphics too. just a little bit repetitive, but the game is not that lenghtie, so there's not really time enough to be boring.

Funniest game I've played, and for the price is definitely worth experiencing this new narrative / adventure game. The story is great and hilarious, the gameplay is a unique take on platformers, and the voice acting for every character and dialogue is worth every penny. Plus they're continuing to add more content for free. 10 / 10 one of the better vr titles out there.

Hillarious dialogue, with a mix of a platforming and some light puzzle solving.

Surprisingly good in VR and well priced for it's lenght and content. I can't recommend it as an 8 if buying it flat as VR brings a layer of extra fun to it (perhaps a 7 at most). It's a surprisingly great platformer, a decent story, hit or miss funny but what does hit is hilarious and has great production value. A few cons are the incessant ranting (good lord give some down time, it's headache inducing) which can cause an illusion of pacing issues and possibly a headache. Comedy is hit or miss and sometimes it misses so bad it can be cringey. The 3d effect isn't all that great at a distance. The creator can't do enough variety to voice all characters, he really should have let a few other people take the rolls of some of these characters. All these are minor though and the game is slightly leaning on the side of great. Proper fun in VR.

This is one of the funniest games I have ever played. Maybe the funniest, considering all the extra laughs I got out of sticking around to listen to the characters of the game ramble on. However, that being said, if you don't dig Roiland's brand of humor then there are 0 reasons to buy this game. While the mechanics and combat are well done, the game itself is simple. I might say, I never felt challenged and I honestly don't think I ever died, not even once... but who cares- that is NOT why I bought this game and had next to nothing to do with why I love it. Roiland and the fellow voice actors of this game have spent heaps of hours in the recording studio creating the audio for this game. Even the most inconsequential enemies will chatter on for 5-8 minutes with new original dialogue if you don't interrupt them and for all the bs that comes out of these character's mouth, it is funny bs and had me rolling more than once. I also can't remember the last time i was happier about a collectible in a video game. Trover's gratefulness and humorous responses to your helping him collect 'power babies' had me straining my next and squinting my eyes at ever pixel in search of them. And of course, the story is as bizarre as you imagine it would be coming from the mind that brought us Rick and Morty. This game was made on drugs or I don't how drugs work. Its an unpredictable 12th shot of tequila mixed with a dirty needle full of horse injected directly in to your anus. I loved it and can't wait to see what they come out with next.

It's an entertaining game. Justin Roiland's humour is always entertaining to me. Graphics are fun, and the gameplay is fun too. My only issue is the pacing. Because Justin likes to ramble with characters, I tend to stand around after the interactions are supposed to be done to listen to the rambling. This, albiet pure entertainment, it does take a hit with the pacing, and I found myself getting bored. I'll finish the game, and go back to replay it for different choices, but it's going to be at a lesierly pace. If you like his sense of humor I still feel it's something you should get.

Hilarious. This game creates a world you’ll want to spend time in, characters you’ll want to interact with, and enough heart to make it all worthwhile. Play it while drinking milk from happy California cows. Because good milk comes from happy cows.

This game is the best game. Well maybe not the best game, I mean who knows, there’s a lot of games out there. It’s one of the best. It’s probably the best. But people are saying it’s the best. A lot of people. Can you believe it? And the economy is good so people will be buying it. Many people. It’s going to sell a lot of copies. Maybe the most. I see a lot of success for this game over a long time. Long time. Years from now they’ll be talking about this game and how great it was and how many people bought it. And that’s good. So who knows. But I think people will like it.
