The negative comments about this game are greatly misleading because it doesn’t even factor in anything about the game.. Although this game does have a yearly subscription, I really think people are just spoiled in other free to play games. Trackmania is driven by community built maps, with the first 10 tracks of the seasonal campaign being released by the developers. It’s based on progressively learning more and more about how to play. You are your only opponent in this game. Although the full campaign is subscription locked, it’s a mere $20 for a year of access. With a subscription you get access to literally everything the community has to offer including car skins and tracks, not locked behind progress walls. There are no other micro transactions. At around 300 hours in the game I’m confident in saying it’s one of the most fun and engaging games I have played and the least toxic online community I’ve encountered. I’m still no where near amazing at the game but there is so much more to the game than most people will realize because they’re stuck gawking at a $20 YEARLY ACCESS price tag. This game has an iceberg of knowledge that you can delve deep into but half of these reviews have barely even touched the surface. Its not a traditional racing game. Racing lines and gears do matter but there are a lot of quirks that give this game life. In my opinion once you start playing, it’s addictive to the point where you just want to find that one more run to beat your old PR. The next time you hop on you may find yourself in the same trap. If you can get past spending $20 for a year of access and actually give the game a chance, you may find yourself as in love with the game as I have found myself.

Most of the game is locked behind a nearly $30 cad paywall, the game it's self is fine but if you want to play more than like ten tracks you have to pay nearly $30 a year which is insane, why the game doesn't just do the normal free to play route with season passes and micro transactions is dumb founding

What a terrible game, it feels like it wasn't even finished. The graphics and the sense of speed are good, but the maps are awful and the gameplay is terrible.

Ah, yes, I love it when games are listed for free, only for you to find out that the game is, in-fact, not free after downloading it. A majority of the features and maps are locked behind a monthly/yearly paywall. The game is fun, it's really fun, but because of the monthly/yearly paywall blocking off most of the game, I can't rate it anything other than a zero. Actually disgusting.

After getting hooked on the 2008 classic, I decided to download the real deal to see what all the hullabaloo was about. I found it equally as addicting initially and quickly purchased the full access for a hefty sum, but sadly I never reached the same degree of fixation as I had so naturally fallen into with Nations Forever. I ponder of the reason - perhaps it is precisely that this game offers so much more than that that the charm was lost on me. Nations Forever was one of few games I genuinely enjoyed playing singleplayer, grinding maps indefatigably for the next medal. TM2020 simply has too much to offer that it inundates and overwhelms that singleplayer charm. All in all though, I still quite enjoy the game, despite it personally being a far cry from the 2008 version.

I've played 600 hours on this game since its release and about 1000 hours on TMNF. The paywall system is trash and club system useless. The ice and plastic surfaces were very unpleasant to play on. These additions make the game more difficult than its predecessors. But i liked the for what it is good for: road + dirt surfaces. In summer 2024, new cars were added to the game. These cars are frustrating to drive, every joystick movements can slow down your car (impossible to play on keyboard and difficult on gamepad without actionkey/macro). These cars turned my "mind emptying" sessions into nightmares. So, i uninstalled this game. TrackMania has lost everything that made TMNF/TM2 good: simplicity. The subscription system forces developers to add content even if it makes the game unpleasant to play.

Great if you are ready to empty your pockets every month. I just don't understand why do I have to pay monthly to use the other 90% of the game, that isspecificly advertised as free

Look at my review for TMNF to see what I liked about that game, and now look at this game. No surprise I am giving it this low a score due to the paywall thing. Otherwise a fine game.

Fun game BUT extremely limited lobbies unless you pay getting a controller to work properly is a CHORE and requires 3rd party programs and even then your input method will just randomly change in game. one of the most poorly supported games ever. nothing changes.

Been playing this game since TMNF days, and holy ****, it's almost impressive how little the game has improved in that time. No performance improvements, the least intuitive UI design ever, everything thrown behind a paywall, entire modes neglected, changes that nobody asked for etc. And then they port a whole car from a different game with no bug fixes or adjustments, creating the weirdest and most inconsistent experience imaginable. Then they **** up royal mode by changing it to an overly complex and unenjoyable gamemode, still neglected ranked matchmaking, and hiding maps 11-25 in every campaign behind a paywall whilst having no good content to show for. I hate to say it, but I'm not going to renew my subscription, and I likely won't play the game past my subscription date. It's been fun..? I think?

To the people giving this game an unfair rating, remember that there are people in this game who love pushing the limits in the editor. The game would be really hard to die off especially because of the recent update adding the snow car and wood. There are so many custom-made levels by users and even the official NADEO campaigns are not entirely made by NADEO themselves, but by good creators such as SoftyB.

The game is good, but it supposed to be : Cross Platform - Cross Play - Cross Progression. Before the release on console, cause of the lack of information, i've bought the 3 year club access on pc, cause it's ubisoft connect, Game is now out on PS5 and i have to REBUY for the Club access... No thank ...This i why i give the game a 3. Very disapointed by nadeo and ubisoft, and the lack of clarity, make it look like really a scam !! They're is now way to view friends time on race, compare, time, nothing, and if you don't buy you have no way to view other player time.

"I've been playing Trackmania since 2006, starting with the ESWC world cup. It was a beautiful, simple, crowded, glorious, and exciting game. I played it for years and migrated to Nations Forever, and then to United. With Nations Forever, the devs made their first evil move by turning the game into a painful experience for "unpaid" account owners. They had to wait as a spectator for one map after every four, and couldn't even chat during that period. So if you have a team training, or WR hunting, you had to go through this process every 5th map or restart and lose your heat and focus. Terrible. Somewhere around this time, if I'm not mistaken, Ubisoft bought Nadeo, the developer. Many years later, Trackmania 2 was released. It was somewhat more rigid in terms of content, but it showed signs of fragmentation. The game base launcher was separated into sections for different launches for each game. The menus became somewhat cluttered, but it was still navigable. It was buggy at first, but they fixed it over time. However, forced shadows raised a lot of concerns among players and even made some tracks unplayable. And now, Trackmania 2020. It was advertised as great, with a serious-looking art style. However, Ubisoft turned this installment into a yearly subscription. Yes, you could still play for free, but you would be prevented from many aspects of the game. It's awful because even if you pay for it, like me, there is almost nothing else you can do but to mingle with poorly designed and splattered content, clogged menus, and very hard-to-navigate content, literally IPTV style menus, many weird stuff here and there, clubs, inexplicable competitions all over the place where you can't tell whether they are official or not, a handful of internet streamers' names everywhere, in-game ads that are over the top, childish texture mapping, very bad texture choice, and sometimes players can't even tell whether they are on ice, magnet, or plastic surfaces. Even the official soundtrack feels like it was made for teaching babies their first PC game. It's a very, very awful experience, and players are separated from each other. Chat is restricted to subscription payers, and you can't even have the glorious, colorful, and creative nicknames you used to have. Your only choice is your default Ubisoft account name that appears in plain white on the scoreboard. The ranking system is also obnoxious, as your ranking is determined by the skill of the other two players in your team in a 3v3 match. There are only two good sides to this game. The first is the default car skins, which are good and show effort. The other is the Royal mode, where you can at least have a little fun, but that's all. I've subscribed for a standard account, and I thought there was more to it with CLUB access subscription, because the game seemed so dead and literally a soup of unsorted content. I have paid 3x the amount I've paid for the standard access, YES, they still charge full amount even if you have paid for standard just before. Ubisoft is THAT hungry about this game. I was wrong... literally NOTHING changed other than having access to CLUB content, which are basically custom in-game rooms that has no damn specialty ever. I felt ripped right from the beginning. The official maps are plain and dreadful, and all the other ordinary map content is shovelfeeded into your face. There are clubs, even they do not know what the hell they are good for. Most of the time in gameplay, your brain twists, even if you know the map you're playing, you actually hesitate in each occasion for there is uncertainty and unnecessary stuff going around everywhere. Devs stole many ideas from DISTANCE, and got the Trackmania very close to that childish car soccer game, killing its characteristic lines. In conclusion, this game is dead, soulless, and when it died, it **** and vomited many colorful adversaries. Ubisoft is in charge of killing another good franchise."

Wow. Making a cool and successful Trackmania game is very very easy: - Cool tracks - Track editor - Dedicated servers - have everything working - fair pricing And you're set! Thats all it takes! And YET Ubisoft manages to screw this up totally. Presentation is cheap, you have to pay extra for every little thing. The camera perspective has been screwed up also, by some useless **** animation crap thats just distracting and adds nothing to the game. Also, many dedicated servers are not joinable, even tho everything is set up correctly. The decline of Trackmania continues.

The reviews on this game are very unreliable. TrackMania is a awesome and refined arcade racing game with loads of user created content. The competitive base of the game is thrilling and you will always push yourself to get better at a certain track. The campaigns are always solid and fun to drive on. I have to agree that the subscription service is off putting but I consider my purchase justified by the amount of fun the game is. 9/10

Buggy game, inconsistent game mechanics, cryptic change logs, useless tutorial maps that explains nothing about various surfaces, blocks, modifiers etc. The UI is so bad, for instance the key binds does not even describe what the keys do like wtf is action key 1,2,3... Lacks so many features for a "game as a service" model with a yearly subscription of 10€ (std. ed.) & 30€ (club ed.). The thing that really annoyed me & made me bother write this review is that, after paying for standard access, I find out that spectating any ghost is included only in the club addition of the game. And spectating ghosts is a frustrating, buggy mess to begin with, so I'm not paying 30€/year for that. I'm not a serious TM player or anything but spectating best times seems like a core feature that should have been included with standard access or even starter free access, as it is a feature that would mostly cater to new players. The game feels like a very bad mobile freemium scam app, even after paying for std. access.

This is a fantastic game, which the user reviews don't represent very well. It has a thriving community and infinite replayability. The gameplay is very clean, easy to pick up insanely hard to master, intended for both casual and hardcore players alike. As for the subscription model, I am personally a fan of. One it guarantees continuous support from the developers, and not because they "can" but because they are "paid" to do so. The amount you get for what you are paying for is well worth it. 10$ a year for 100 official maps and access to 365 community maps, infinite club campaigns and many different gamemodes is just more than enough. I'd rather play a supported game that gets better over time rather than buying the "new" game every year like CoD or FIFA.

Its a game that lets you access it for free but if you actually want to have actual fun and not just a few tracks every 3 months you need to pay! If you want to get money just make the game not f2p,not this stupid garbage. Only reason I'm giving 4 and not 0 is because gameplay is decent.

I will compare this to tmnf. So, first: Subscription method to make money is extremely scammy. Second: Server crashes, underpopulated servers are common. Third: Game crashes EXTREMELY OFTEN and is not well optimized. Just a good idea, destroyed by server and rushed development by ubisoft.

Meh. I have experience with a few other TM games, but i'm not a competitive/serious player. This one feels like a rehash of any of the other TM games (as they all mostly do). The graphics are decent and the game runs well but that's as far as I'd say the improvments over other TM games go. They added a whole bunch of new blocks and modifiers, but the extra variery does not alleviate the fact that they make the racing experince worse. Most of the new modifiers try to add new mechanics at the expense of removing control from your car eg. low friction surfaces, no steering, no engine, fragile. Ice blocks are the worst thing to be added to the game, they feel TERRIBLE; I loath any time I encounter ice on a track. The menus are still rough and not improved over any passed TM games. The most eggregious part is the pricing: the game is priced at AAA pricing for a game that is definitely not a AAA game. Not only that, but it's subscription based, so that AAA cost only gets you a 3 year subscription.

I had been playing the franchise for nearly 6 years. Never had i seen such a money-milking subscription system on such terrible game. Servers that cant handle 8 people and are worse than in 2007 Nations Forever, many known players leaving as well as terrible PR from the game developers, Nadeo, led to the community rebeling against the CEO as well as requiring immediate changes to both approach by the devs as well as improving the overall player experience like menu or removing the notorius acceleration penalty after hitting a wall (made only to punish people that want to drive fast). Totally not worth more time than playing a few maps a week with friends - Nadeo wanted to make an e-sports title, but they made the exact opposite of what they wanted, and cannot accept the fact that community knows better what it wants than themselves.

So, I downloaded Trackmania (2020), expecting it to be fun. Little did I realize how much it would not be fun it would be from the get go. Subscriptions that Ubisoft likes to call [Access] for a single year. Pay a fee to access content for a year, and once the year's over, you lose access until you pay for it again. Really, Ubisoft? Ubisoft apparently tried to defend it by saying "You're not paying for a subscription, you're paying for the game for a year." Last I checked, that's a very definition of a subscription, idiots. "Oh no, it's not loot boxes, it's surprise mechanics." That's how tone deaf they sound in defending this scummy business model, when features shouldn't be locked behind a subscription for a game like this one, such as advanced map editing, etc., for a game that I can play locally on my machine and don't have to upload tracks for. I mean just look how egregious this is. Ubisoft is calling it DLC on the store page. If it's DLC, it shouldn't be locked behind a subscription. That's like telling me, "Oh, we see you bought this game and enjoy it! It would be awful if you lost access to it soon so pay us to keep playing your locally stored copy of your beloved game!" Eff off Ubisoft. What a scummy, scam-ridden, disgusting practice. I've uninstalled Trackmania and cannot recommend it at all. I will not go back to this version, this supposed "reboot" of the Trackmania franchise/series. Folks should just stick with the old Trackmania game like Nations Forever, where you have permanent access to your rightly purchased content.

The trackmania series frustrated me that I hadn't heard about it sooner. Watching your track ranking improve is about as addicting as crack cocaine. This new entry does some things extremely well while doing other things not so well. positives: The gameplay is unmatched by anything. There are only 2 rules: collect all checkpoints in any order, and finish. This simplicity not only makes the game easy to understand from newbies but it also allows experienced players to get creative with how they tackle the maps. The physics feel spot on and consistent (apart from reactor boost). They aren't mario kart arcadey but it isn't gran turismo either. It's right in the middle which I wish more games did. Your racing lines matter more than any other video game without haiving that pesky realism where you are constantly having to manage oversteer / understeer and such. The track editor is no doubt the best improvement over previous trackmania games and it has boosted my creativity ten fold with the ability to block mix and free place blocks. The ability to place a checkpoint and restart from there everytime while building a track makes me wonder how I lived without it. Track of the day has also been a great addition and that has been where I have sunk a lot of time. negative: unfortunately there is also quite a lot of negative with this game. I was quite surprised that on day one, the leaderboards didn't work and the 5 hours I had spent (yes 5 hours) grinding on track of the day for that one pb was not counted and I got no credit for anything. The netcode of this game has seemingly gotten better since release but it still has a ton of work that needs to be done to it. For now I would only recommend this game if you are looking for a solo experience with leaderboards. You will also need a decent pc to run this game (I have gtx960 + fx 6300 @ 60hz and I play on 720p lowest settings @ 150fps otherwise if the game drops below 100fps, the input lag gets really severe). The UI is also a step back from previous games with missing features such as a server browser that displays basic server information. The pricing model is a bit of a Nog but I can't really see how it could be avoided. Some people say mtx would fix it but that would most likely break the community content creation aspect of trackmania. Others say that a one time payment would fix the issue but that would force nadeo to make yet another trackmania game which is probably the last thing that the series needs (there are a lot of tm games). Imo standard should be more generous with giving club access but other than that, I can live with it. As long as you ignore the glaring technical faults with this game, the gameplay is amazing and I think even your dog would enjoy it

As a Trackmania fan from the first hour I was heavily looking froward to the free-to-play release this year. The problem of this game is, that if you don´t pay, you get an unfinished game. The fun lasts only for the few hours long campaign, the rest is classic but very repetitive rework by the publisher. Sadly just recycling, but if you´re new with this franchise, enjoy!

This is the highest score I can give. I'm really dissapointed. I started this journew with the TrackMania Nations ESWC (which is the OG best one) and played it like crazy; I'm pretty sure I wasted over 2000 hours on that game. Musics and atmosphere were amazing, songs of it still rings in my ears. After that, Forever came out and it was good; addition of dirt and water were ok and added props were amazing for the track customisation. But it wasn't anything near ESWC. And after years, this pile of whaever it is came out. Car styilng was changed, ICE ROAD added (what the hell Ubisoft?) and worst of all, subsciption system. SUBSCRIPTON SYSTEM. FOR TRACKMANIA Really? Why you guys made it free then? Who asked for offline only and no-customisation system unless you pay up? How can you do something like that? What happened to community driven system? Why? Just why? What a disgrace, what a spit on the TrackMania series. There no word on the world that can describe my frustration. Congrats Ubisoft, you literally ruined everything, even TrackMania. I'm not going to spend a single penny on Ubisoft games, ever. I'm done.

I don't want to criticize the game too much. I just want to note that part of the trackmania is really weak. I didn't like the idea of releasing a new game. After all, there was ManiaPlanet. Why do you need anything else? Of course, there is something that I really liked about this game. It is the ability to fly, roll vertically with a super turbo, and ride bobsled. Note, I didn't like snow and ice! Riding on such surfaces is crazy. I confess, perhaps I was too strict. Anyway the new Trackmania 2020 is a complete failure.

I am a big fan of TM, played since 2008 when I was 12 years old. Today, I am still playing TMNF and TM2 sporadically. I can just start the game that I bought and play my favorites tracks that I saved for years and join community servers. But this game does not allow that. This game wants you to pay every year. I cannot play my own maps locally. Just let me pay once, play my favorite tracks locally, and join community servers. I don't care about your free Nadeo servers. People like me can just create their own like we always do. It's cheaper for you and it lets us better servers, because they do not handle the load. The development was clearly rushed at the end to be ready for the Zerator's TM Cup. Cam is buggy, the car is less powerful than a wooden car (Trial, RPG are unplayable now). The menus are awful. Trackmania was made by its community, they stay forever. I checked today and on Steam, there are still 300 people playing 12 years old games, and their still sharing videos on Youtube of the previous game. You tried to justify the yearly price by 2 things: - new content, we'll have 4 campaigns a year of 25 poor maps. Whereas the community is creating maps: there are 533 232 maps today on TMNF Tm-exchange. Is more than 100 tracks a day over 12 years. - keep the development of TM alive. We keep Trackmania alive for years. Don't take your players as whales. You told us that you wanted to make TM an esports game, why did you choose this DA? And this cam 3? The game is less readable for the player and the viewer. I'm not going to buy this game at full price every year. Look what Paradox said: "Our DLC model is based on the idea that you pay for new content after the full game release. This helps to finance the further development of the game, which is of gain for all players." You were not honest. I'll keep playing the previous TM, keep my server up. But I won't pay every year for a game, that I play sporadically. Imagine if I paid 30€ every year for TMUF and TM2. It would have cost me 570€ and I keep playing those games. I like TrackMania, we made it together, you wanted to divorce.

This game is ubisofts latest scam. I would gladly bought it, but i can't. The only option to play multiplayer and build tracks is to "subscribe" for one year. I miss the days when you actually owned the games you play.

Don't listen to the negative reviews, it's bombed by people who did not understand what the annual cost of the game means. You pay 10 bucks for a FULL YEAR access to the online play (with you friends & random people), and you retain PERMANENT access to all maps unlocked during that year (400+ maps). Also permanent access to the advanced map editor. That's nothing compared to a lot of other multiplayer games. Plus you can thoroughly try the game for free in singleplayer (with some online integrations like rankings and ghost players). The game is great, the best racing game both for casuals and pros. Super fun, great community and Nado are good developers who are close to their community and offer them amazing tools and support.

I don't want to be unfair towards the people who put their time and effort into making this. The game looks good, controls well and has potential to be great. There are minor technical issues, poor performance on some maps despite more than adequate hardware is one of them. The menu also isn't great. A lot of terms are just unfitting for what you're actually about to click. I have to ask: what's wrong with the term "Servers"? Everybody knows what it is and what you can expect when clicking on it. Instead you have Club Rooms. Also, the player page (so the player profile) isn't even working at the time of me writing this. It's not broken, it's just not finished, or to quote the Website: "It is still an work in progress, but you can already manage your Dedicated Server Accounts and view the maps you submitted to Map Review." It's not important, but I expect games to be released in a finished state, this includes external features like player profiles, too. But that's not really why the game deserves a rating of 0, so far the game would be a solid 7. However, where it all falls apart for me (and obviously not just for me), is when we take the business model into consideration. Expecting people to pay annually is unspeakably greedy. They avoid the term "subscription", but let's be straight forward here: If you want to - communicate via chat messages, - make maps, - apply or make skins - be part of the community in any way, be it online or offline you have to pay. Call it what you want, it's not making any difference to how I feel about it. This is anti-consumer and I can not let this go. It's unnecessary, it's cheeky and straight up unfair to the fans who are the only (!!) reason why the games are great. No user created content means no Trackmania. That's all.

The addition of Ice is just blasphemous. I do not condone teasing in any way shape or form in games ESPECIALLY when full features are blocked by paywalls. Such as the skin customization for starter /standard accounts, you cant even use your own skins that you had created. After I painstakingly made a skin for myself, I could not use it and after reading through some articles it became clear to me. Ubisoft has become a money-hungry greedy company that want a SUBSCRIPTION based economy for this **** shame. Only the club members get to use their own skins, so what is the point to customise cars for starters and standard players if we cant even use our own skins. Disgusting capitalistic **** OF THEM

The gameplay however, is good, nothing to highlight, but what me and everyone hates about this game is the business model, the game evolves almost in nothing, lacks with personality compared to TrackMania Turbo and many others, this is the worst concept ubisoft has made, did a better work with TM2 and Turbo

A Jég mit keres a stadium környezetében? If so, please translate it from Hungarian into English and you will understand it thanks to your understanding!
