A nightmare to get to grips with, but once you do it's a pretty impressive shooter. [Christmas 2010, p.92]

Average at best. This is the kind of game that you won't remember playing a year from now, because it's not exciting enough to make any real lasting positive impression, but it's also done just well enough that it shouldn't strike you as terribly negative either.
It's difficult to find any serious fault with Thorium Wars. Its concept is both strong and well-handled, and the various missions actually feel...well...varied. The only thing difficult to swallow is the price tag, and, indeed, for a few hundred points less we'd be recommending it all the more strongly.

Graphics: The graphics are ok for the most part. Giving the fact that it is DS graphics, its very limited. But even so, it can get very pixelated at some times. 1 out of 2. Music/Sounds: The music sounds cool at first, until you realize that it is the same boring tune over and over again. The music is pretty mediocre when it comes to fitting. The sound effects are also repeditive and annoying but make sense for the most part. .75 out of 2. Story/Progression: Stealing the plot from The Matrix wasn't enough. They had to take out every interesting aspect of it. You don't get to meet your character. Progression absoloutly ****. It goes from simple and straight forward to complicated and excrutiatingly difficult. .5 out of 2. Variety: Before your mission, you get to choose between two vehicles. WHATS THE POINT. They are basicly the same. The enemies are also rehashed and just given a different color or design but they all do the same thing SHOOT YOU. The levels are rehashed as well. .5 out of 2 Gameplay: This gameplay is simply boring repedetive and extremly hard. the controlls are solid though. 1.25 out of 2 that adds to 4. I can honestly say that I experienced nothing redeeming about this game.

Thorium Wars is a highly entertaining game that has a fair amount of replay value and high production values. It might be expensive, but it sure is a great piece of software.

Despite doing its level best to offer impressive variety, slick 3D visuals, and a decent raft of challenging stages, it's a game that seems determined to irritate the player.
