Players who aren't willing to spend hours and hours crafting their dream tower and instead want a quick pick-up-and-play simulation will be very hesitant to pursue a career with The Tower.

A game in the purest sense, even if there aren't any bosses to defeat or coins to collect. You could have been playing this game for 10 years (and, as the dated midi rumblings prove, this game shows its age), and if you haven't yet, I've got to maintain that your GBA is the best way to experience it.

For a pocket simulation, I found the game to be incredibly deep with a number of options available for me to take advantage of.

The foundation is there for a sound game, but the lack of options and activities can make The Tower SP feel more like a fixer-upper than prime real estate. [May 2006, p.91]

Not overly hard to play, but this is a simplistic building/economic sim at best.

Stylus control would have been a perfect way to ape the original's mouse controls, but using the d-pad to move your cursor and A to select feels good and works well. The building menu is opened with R and is equally painless to navigate.

There's plenty to do early on while playing The Tower SP, but after three hours or so, you can literally watch it play itself.
