I loved my time with Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog. It nails every note it’s going for and then some. There is so much to love, from the characters to the story to the visuals and music. It tells a sci-fi story reminiscent of adventure games and anime of the past anyone can enjoy. While short, I’m already playing it again and getting new scenarios I missed. I’m already looking forward to seeing what other players experience, and I can’t wait to see it thrive. Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a promising start to a successful series—one that I can’t wait to see more of.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a solid entry into a series of text-based adventures. As a standalone, the game is competent, but its open-ended conclusion and minor details weaken its impact.

If you’ve ever wanted to pretend to be the chief security officer on a random Star Trek episode, this is the game for you! If you’ve somehow never wanted that, it’s still a great story with endlessly charming characters.

Yuri, Dot pixel graphic, retro low bit music. All my favorite stuff. I heard lots of porn Visual Novel created by Ren'Py,Mostly are trash. Story of gundog proved A good VN shouldn't counting on engine. Story is the soul of the game, it is most important and must be well considered. the story from Gundog is very clear and without unnecessary dialogue,Step by step, every event happened is clear. visual novel is a low cost way for game creator. It can totally just a story in literature. You can even write one for yourself, With AI generated image. cast voice, painter, musician will improve quality but not necessary. And of course the story. Since player can't expecting interaction in VN game, Just like no one care what you eat last night such Boring dialogue,Meaningless information. I suppose that's why some player don't want to waste time on VN stuff. Look at the acient prototype VN such like Metal slader glory nes . The game creators really try everything they got to show player in a tiny monitor screen. I love the passion. be Creative ,more interaction. that's future of VN. Don't just skip dialog one after another.

Such a great game! Obviously it looks great and is so true to the original genre, but what really stands out for me are the characters. I really believed in them and got thoroughly pulled into the story. All in all, quality oozing out of every pore. I’m really looking forward to more from Space Colony Studios and will be keeping them on my radar for the future.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog masterfully blends retro-inspired visuals with modern storytelling, delivering a gripping sci-fi narrative filled with player-driven choices and Lovecraftian tension. With its richly developed protagonist, immersive exploration, and nostalgic ‘90s anime aesthetic, the game evokes the charm of classic PC-Engine adventures while tackling mature themes like PTSD and interplanetary warfare.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a very classic graphic adventure, which takes us to live a narrative and exciting story in the purest science fiction style of the '80s.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a surprise indie hit this year. If you like games like Mouthwashing that come out of nowhere, this is one to check out. The hook is the incredible graphics. It feels like what we remember a 1980s or 90s anime to look like. But it goes beyond that with minimally challenging gameplay, memorable characters, and witty writing. While I did run into some problematic bugs, I look forward to the next story in this sci-fi universe.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a largely triumphant tribute to last-century science fiction. Referencing everything from Gundam to Alien, expect to spend your time on the space vessel interacting with a colorful cast and delving into plotline that sets things up for subsequent follow-ups. In space, sequels are compulsory, it seems.

Stories From Sol: The Gun-Dog is a decent visual novel, and a good opening salvo for what is supposed to be the first entry to a wider universe. While most of the story is self-contained, there are major plot points left open to be resolved in later releases. The different visual styles all look good, the story is fine if familiar, and you can get through it in an afternoon.

Really loved this. Probably the best game I've played in the VN genre. Attention to detail is amazing. You can tell the devs really care about it. Can't wait for their next one.

Beautiful game with three dimensional, engaging characters and a story that had me on the edge of my seat (and openly weeping at the finale). Game came with three graphics modes, catering for preferences of those with more retro tastes or a more modern full colour mode, and also allows you to select between two options for fonts. The game is narrative heavy, with a couple of puzzle elements dispersed throughout. Without divulging any spoilers, the games ending left me fulfilled and wanting to know more about this world. I would strongly recommend this game to anyone who is considering playing it.
Summary Survive the mystery that awaits the JFS Gun-Dog in deep space in this retro visual novel / graphic adventure.
