Republic Commando should really be viewed as an incredibly solid, compelling, stylish title that has the ability of being able to be played over Xbox Live should you fancy it.

What's most disappointing about the whole thing, though, isn't so much the lack of me-too deathmatch variants, but that LucasArts didn't bother to allow players to play the campaign mode co-operatively as Red Storm achieved so successfully in the likes of Ghost Recon 2, Rainbow Six 3 and Black Arrow... As it is Republic Commando deserves huge respect for managing to be the best Star Wars shooter ever.

Every time I look back at older Star Wars games, I realize how few of them actually tell stories about the Clone Wars. You can count such games on one hand, yet somehow many of them still hold strong positions in rankings. This game is one of them. I cannot say that it stands out because of its visual design - it was always quite specific. But people did not fall in love with this game because of how it looks. Star Wars: Republic Commando delivers a well-directed story about elite clone troopers fighting to eliminate the galactic threat represented by the CIS. The game features several interesting mechanics, and one of the most notable ones is squad control. Even though it is a shooter, you are constantly commanding a team of three elite soldiers, which adds a tactical layer to the gameplay. For all fans of the legendary franchise, this is a strong recommendation to experience what the Republic's elite forces were doing during the most intense battles of the Clone Wars.

Bencis reviews: Dtar wars:Republic commando is an old but amazing title, that is very underrated for no reson. It is fun, stylish and somewhat challenging with pretty good AI for the time. An absolute must play for every star wars fan.

How does a 20-year-old game like Star Wars: Republic Commando hold up in 2025? To my amazement, it plays pretty well! Gameplay: 7.5/10
Story: 8.5/10
Music: 10/10
Game Design: 8/10
Enjoyment: 9/10
Overall: 8.5/10 Phenomenal Star Wars Music with a Militaristic Tone First off, the music - just phenomenal. It is clear they had access to virtually any Star Wars song, they've crafted an auditory experience that perfectly complements the militaristic vibe of the game. The opening sequence is absolutely perfect, setting the tone for what's to come. For 2005, it's surprisingly reminiscent of what Half-Life did for the genre, you actually feel like you're part of the war-torn galaxy of the Clone Wars. Gameplay From Squad Innovation to Monotony However, gameplay does have its caveats. After a while, it can feel a bit monotonous. The missions are long and the squad commands, while innovative for the time, can feel clunky by today's standards. But, if you're a Star Wars fan, these are minor gripes. The game truly captures the essence of the life as an elite Delta Squad member. The graphics, while dated, have a charm to them. They don't detract from the experience but rather add to the nostalgia for these older type of games. Conclusion If you love Star Wars, you'll find plenty to enjoy here. It throws you back into the world of the prequels from a unique and cool angle; and it really shows how well some games age. With just how terrible modern Star Wars games have become, this game is just ten folds better at capturing Star Wars, it feels entirely authentic. I got the game for $1 off G2A, definitely worth revisiting or experiencing for the first time if you missed it back in the day.

The audio, just like the visuals, is terrific. The ambience of battle, the Star Wars music, the sounds from droids and aliens; everything is done so well. You feel as though you're actually there in a scene from a Star Wars movie.

Fans of both the movies and action games should definitely come away pleased with the game, even though the multiplayer is disappointing. The campaign is really that good.

This game deserves an award, yet granite this game came out around 2006 but I am still playing it today. This was when games were at their golden age, perfect AI, a squad that actually has an idea of what they are doing, the gameplay is real smooth no lag, online is kind of cheap though but for this game I will let it slide because it was one of my child hood favorites. To be honest, it is really hard for someone like me to give a 10, because if there is one thing I don't like it loses it's 10, the only other game I can think of off the top of my head that I gave a 10 to is "Star Wars battlefront 2" yet granite I like that game better than this one, but on my top 10 list this would be in the solid 2 slot, I have never enjoyed as much games as I've had with Lucas arts, it's sad to realize that Lucas arts was bought out by Disney because they made REALLY good games, perfect games to be exact, another game I would recommend is Star wars KNIGHTS of the old republic, don't get the MMO version, it ****. Anyways, if people complain about this game, I don't know what else you want from a video game. The haters are looking for something that doesn't exist, the perfect game. Instead of looking at every flaw in a game look at how FUN it is, instead of tormenting yourself through it, yet this game is really fun but every game as it's flaws. Seriously to all the haters on this game GROW UP, this is as close to a perfect game as you going to get.

This is one game that makes you "feel" like part of the conflict rather than just a spectator. Hardcore FPS fans will probably have a few complaints about the simplistic squad command system, the short length, and the standard multiplayer modes, but there is no doubt that this is an adrenaline rush from beginning to end.

The single-player campaign is a little too short and too linear, but we're guessing it's probably still about a hundred times more thrilling than anything you'll see in "Episode III" come this May.

Though repetitive at times, with poorly executed AI and multiplayer modes, the absorbing and immersive single player campaign that the game offers brings it 'up there' with the likes of Rogue Leader and Battlefront. LucasArts have done better than this - but then again, they've also done worse.

Where Ubisoft's teams have exponentially raised the bar for squad-based titles, the LucasArts kowtowers have inconsolably brought the entry level down. Troops: step forward and press 'A' at my command. [Sir, yes sir!]

I am a huge Star wars fan and I must say this is my favorite Star Wars game by far, everything from its game play, system layout, story and its main characters I think are perfect. If you have been thinking of trying this game, think no longer, just do it and do it now! I promise you, you will not regret it! Best Star Wars game ever!

I think Republic Commando is a solid game. The graphics don't age that badly the gun play is good the squad mechanics are not very deep but are enjoyable and it probably helps that im a Star Wars fan. On the flip side theirs a real lack in weapon verity especially early game. Our main charterers weren't very memorable for me and the whole last world felt a lot weaker in a lot of aspects compared to the one before. That being said i think the game is still worth checking out for first person shooter fans and Star Wars fan. And i think it's worth getting a sequel or maybe a remake some day.
