With decent gameplay and mildly intriguing story, I would have given Space Rift a passing grade in the current PSVR lineup. However, the lack of a coherent art style and the disastrous bugs keep me from being able to do that. If and when Chapter 2 is released, I hope the developers manage to buckle down and make sure everything works properly. I don’t hold out much hope, though — I mean, how many games are there where even the end credits are broken?

Despite a limited presentation, it introduces a clever way of using the PSVR helmet within a cockpit, one housed within an interesting sci-fi tale. Still, be prepared for an array of interaction quirks, likewise stale voiceovers. If there are subsequent Space Rift episodes, hopefully they’ll iron out Episode 1 issues.

The initial concept of the Space Rift is original and compelling. However, the overall execution of the world is far below what have come to expect from most VR games. While the game does have some nice style and mechanics in the cockpit, the voice acting and artwork in the game make it an unpleasant and drab experience. Space Rift seems to be as devoid of life as the dried up Earth within it.

Space Rift is a little VR game that has you controlling a spacecraft to solve puzzles and basic combat. There is a little bit of a narrative but i remember nothing of it. Bland and boring in every respect.

A nice game with a good sense of scale. Sometimes it's a little hard to work out what to do, and twice the game has got stuck while scanning an asteroid, and needed a restart to let me do anything else. Not a bad way to spend £12 at all, but some room for improvement.

A bit simple and short, but there's loads of potential here. Let's see what the future holds.

Space Rift is a little clunky and has a low budget feel to it but it tells an interesting story and breaks it up with some fun dogfights. The presentation isn't going to wow you, even with the PSVR functionality, but if you're looking for a VR game with some potential depth, this episodic space opera is worth a look.

VR space exploring is an inspired concept, but a good game idea matters little if the gameplay doesn’t measure up, and Space Rift fails doubly as a VR experience due to its lackluster aesthetics and unrefined VR controls. Chalk this up to yet another quickly conceptualized concept that lacks the necessary polish to make it work, and only makes players yearn harder for the time when a competent developer fulfills one out of many VR dream games that companies try too quickly to capitalize on during a hardware’s launch window.
