For players looking for something a little outside the usual fare, Sorry We’re Closed is the offbeat survival horror genre-blend they didn’t know they’d been waiting for — and as one of that number myself, I can say that it was an experience unlike any other.

Sorry We’re Closed is a divine contender for best adaptation of nostalgic ‘90s gaming while reaching the tier of 2010s handheld era titles. A must-have and a must-want for anyone without a PC.

A beautiful and impressive game.

This is a solid story game with a bit of Resident Evil-like combat. The gameplay is quite basic, it was still quite an enjoyable indie game. The action isn't difficult, and there's very little horror.

Survival horror without the horror. The themes they are building the game around are interesting but the atmosphere just isnt there and neither is the quality of the dialogue.

Sorry We're Closed é um sonho lúcido, apesar de sentir falta de mais jogos com as mecânicas de Killer7, o jogo consegue entregar uma narrativa peculiar com elementos de mais um "retro-RE-like"

Sorry We’re Closed struck me deep. Every confession of love, every bullet through the heart, every day that Michelle woke up just to prove love is worth living for. Any kind of love, as long as you try. That’s the kind of game this is. Past the combat and puzzles, after the decisions and conversations. No matter what, it wants you to wake up each day and choose love.

Sorry We’re Closed is a unique horror shooter that blends arcade action with tactical gameplay, using classic audiovisual techniques to build tension. Its challenging combat, multiple endings, and seamless puzzles make for a rewarding experience.

A brilliantly strange, neon-lit survival horror that mixes 90s style visuals and gameplay with a very modern take on love in the 21st century.

With nostalgia at its heart and enough vibrancy and style to ignite London’s nightlife, Sorry We’re Closed is very much its own beast. It's only held back by some ever so slightly clunky combat.

Sorry We’re Closed not only pays homage to classic survival horror, it provides a truly unique love story that delves into the very nature of romance itself. For all its theming and grisly imagery, however, there’s a script with a pointed sense of humor and a cast of fun characters to match. Combat has good ideas set back by some awkward implementation, but the moments of annoyance aren’t enough to pull down the sum of all parts.

Those moments of anguish were not massive parts of the game, although they were gnarly roadblocks. Everything else, from the vibes to the storytelling, and even the combat when it was reasonable, were compelling to the end. I’m still curious about the other endings, but the trauma from that generator setpiece has me wanting to wait for possible adjustments or new settings in the future. Horror enthusiasts, especially those who revel in the weird, who are also secret gaming gunslingers and are cool with sudden spikes in difficulty will find a lot to like here.

The game is a solid attempt to send a love letter to psychological horror like Silent Hill and the "god in the everyday" like Shin Megami Tensei. What sets it apart for me is that once you get past that love letter, you're quickly met with a story that can stand on its own. In the game's short stay (you'll finish it in like ~8 hours), you're presented with a cast of characters between the living and supernatural that want to be loved. Gameplay works kind of the same as most tanky shooters and plays more like a mix of a SUDA51 game and ogand ogent Evil. You gotta scavange ammo, use a "third eye" mechanic to hit weak points, and fight bosses. While it is rough around the edges, this is an indie studio. I purely made this review because I think the one that is public is unnecessary and cruel for no good reason. As a straight white dude who bought the game as something to do on a Saturday afternoon, it deserves a lot more love than being accused as "woke" because a large part of the cast is LGBT.
