One of the best Adventure Point-&-Click titles I’ve played in recent memory. The developers have done a fantastic job of blending a compelling – if occasionally dark and twisted – storyline with challenging, varied puzzles, while still keeping the Point-&-Click style.

An excellent adventure-puzzle game with a heavy macabre theme in an oil painting universe that keeps you so immersed you barely realise how much blood you spill until it is far too late, ultimately let down by bizarre puzzle solutions and issues with Flash player.

Rusty Lake: Roots manages to create an original and credible narrative without betraying its "room escape" nature. Compared to the previous titles in the series it is a more mature game, and it doesn't bore despite the increased length.

Rusty Lake: Roots is an ambitious plunge into dark storytelling. Playing on my laptop over a chilly weekend, this premium point-and-click adventure follows the Vanderboom family across decades, building a grim family tree through 33 vignettes. Its scope kept me glued to the **** art’s gorgeous—oil-painting vibes with muted colors, creepy portraits, and details like a bloody knife that chilled me. Levels shift from snowy graveyards to war-torn trenches, each vivid. The haunting soundtrack, with soft strings and eerie hums, made me yelp at a jump scare in the Sacrifice level. PC controls are smooth, though some puzzle clicks felt too precise.Puzzles are diverse—mixing potions, decoding letters, even a creepy pregnancy test puzzle that lingered. The Wedding Photo level, aligning objects to recreate a scene, felt like solving a painting. The Chess puzzle was abstract, forcing me to use hints (kudos for including those). The story’s deep, tying to Hotel and Paradox, but its symbolism might confuse **** 6-8 hours, Roots is meaty, with achievements and secret endings adding replay value. A few puzzles feel unfair, and old Flash player issues (now fixed) were a hassle. Roots earns a 9/10—grander and grimmer than Hotel, it’s a must for dark narrative and puzzle fans. Brace for nightmares.

with roots you get to see the origin of the acid trip and how it came to be. you got multiple mini acid trips all culminating to a big stoned mushroom adventure.

Rusty Lake: Roots is an excellent follow-up to Rusty Lake Hotel—grander, grimmer, and more gruesome than ever. The Rusty Lake games are quickly carving out a niche as my favorite point-and-click series of the modern era, with a bold confidence underpinning their unconventional and inventive world. I highly recommend picking up the pair for a night or two of surreal horror.

And while it’s not as impactful as Rusty Lake Hotel, or my favourite Cube Escape, Seasons, there’s an absolute ton going on here for a crazy tiny £2.
