The game is great and every aspect of the game is positive. It’s not perfect though, having slight issues with the gameplay and story pacing. The good and fun things overwhelm the tiny amount of negative things making this game definitely worth buying.
It's a sensitively told story that's brought in to land with a thunderous final chapter, delivering suspense, spectacle, and a deeply moving resolution. [Issue#385, p.112]
Planet of Lana is a profoundly moving title that couples its clever, companion-driven puzzle-solving with an irresistibly gorgeous presentation to create what is, so far, the year’s prettiest, heartrending indie.
Planet of Lana strikes a nice balance between its different aspects. Exploring the game's world is never dull with its appealing art style. Puzzles are varied and fun, with some thrilling encounters along the way.
Planet of Lana is an enjoyable change from large games, a relaxing experience with a couple of poignant moments. It’s not in the same league as Ori and the Blind Forest or Limbo, and its puzzles could’ve been more creative, but in my opinion it’s still a strong debut by Wishfully and I’m curious what the future holds for the studio.
Planet of Lana is a beautiful game with simple mechanics and great characters, including bobcat. But repetitive gameplay, easy puzzles and bad controls in sections with drones and electric labyrinths destroyed our hopes of getting a true gem.
While its evocative graphics will attract players on this beautiful journey, the simple traversal puzzles and lack of emotional weight mean Planet of Lana is just not very memorable.
7 - Very Good.
Unique art style, fun clever puzzles that are solvable without having to look anything up which is very refreshing these days.. heart warming story, you get a cool companion who you feel lonely without, attachment to story & characters. Could have been longer & sometimes the controls felt iffy. Overall recommend for puzzle & platform lovers.
I enjoyed the game while it lasted, though, unfortunately, that wasn’t very long.
The game is undeniably cute, but it’s so brief that there’s barely enough time to get fully immersed. The gameplay is fun, not overly challenging, which is a nice touch.
But let’s talk about the story… it’s hard to take seriously with all the innuendos. Planet of "Lana" backward? Really? And with that, the spaceship design ?! (you know, the one written with clay in the lore). Maybe my mind’s in the gutter, but it looks suspiciously like a certain… accessory. Nobody noticed that? And of course, the robots with tentacles abducting humans..yeah, okay, we see where this is going.
The story’s credibility is a bit of a stretch; a kid taking on such a challenge ? Come on lol.
That said, it’s not a bad game by any means. I just wish the story had a bit more depth. Uhuh
Just not very interesting. The puzzles are quite pedestrian and somewhat unforgiving, and the pacing of the game is extremely slow. Played about 30 minutes which felt like 30 hours, stopped and went to youtube and realized there was at least another 500 hours of gameplay left, so thankfully I stopped where I did. Try it out if you like very tedious and dull games but otherwise give this one a pass.
A beautiful and inspiring game that was totally ruined by the "cat companion". I'm not a fan of cats in the first place due to violent allergic reactions so an option to replace the cat by a dog would have been nice for accessibility reasons (even a warning would have been nice!) I've also seen some people complain that you can't rebind the controls but I think it creates a shared experience that's central to the themes of Planet of Lana (with all gamers experiencing the game with the same controls), although I have to point out that the "pro-environment" themes border on propaganda considering how thoroughly debunked "climate change" is at this point. Worth a playthrough if you can get it on sale.
SummaryA planet that used to be a place of undisturbed balance between human, nature, and animal has now become something else entirely. The disharmony that had been in the making for hundreds of years has finally arrived in the form of a faceless army. But this is not a story about war. This is a story about a vibrant, beautiful planet - and ...
