Great game. The perfect combination of game mechanics and atmosphere. The gameplay in intensity resembles as if you are playing DotA. And the principle is very similar: choose the best spells for your style. You know, nothing like this has come up yet. It is a pity that the game has not gained well-deserved popularity on the background of Diablo. Westwood, rest in peace. in 2001, when my father brought my first computer, your game became an outlet for 7-year-old me and an escape from the gray reality of a small town in post-Soviet Russia

What an exceptional and unique game Nox is. I'm coming back after nearly 20 years since I've first played it, and it has aged wonderfully. The graphics have held up great over the years and I can't get enough of the steam-punk aesthetic. It's very pleasant and satisfying admiring the world of NoX. No spoilers aside from what you learn in the first 5 seconds from the intro video. Nox is a brilliant isometric RPG with 3 classes to choose from. The player is 'Isekai'd' from his normal life at home and **** into the medieval world of Nox when a summoning spell cast on a shiny rock in the player's house pulls him in with it. The spell was cast by the Necromancer Queen Hecubah to obtain a very powerful magic Orb which was cast away to earth previously in an attempt to hide it and keep it out of evil hands. Their only chance of getting back home is by getting back. Each of the classes has varying advantages, disadvantages and very unique campaign stories that visit each location at different times and under a different light it really feels serves to add replayability and depth to the game. I don't want to get too into the story of the game, but I will explain a few mechanics. There are 3 classes: Warrior, Conjurer, and Wizard. Warriors possess no mana and cannot use spells. However, they have a spellbook of a few skills that cost no mana and suit a warrior, such as a Berserker Charge ability. They have access to some really fun to use weapons and armour. Conjurers do have mana, they have an assortment of unique spells that somewhat crossover with Wizards. They also have the ability to tame and summon beasts. This is one of the most fun mechanics I've played with in a game. Wizards are slow and frail, they cannot wear armour, but they are very strong with magic to make up for their weaknesses. They have a plethora of spells at their disposal that you can find throughout the game via the campaign, secrets, or in stores. Each class is wonderfully balanced and they are all living isolated by race in their own locations. Warriors and Wizards are natural enemies and don't get along and can't enter eachothers villages without risk of being attacked, while Conjurers are allied with all sides and can freely go wherever they want. My personal favourite class is the Conjurer, I just can't get enough of summoning beasts to do my bidding. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who enjoyed other games in the genre. This game was a treasure for its time and still holds up well enough today. I'm disappointed only by the fact that not many have heard of this wonderful game. Blame EA for interrupting Westwood's(a subset company of EA's) development of the expansion pack to take over "development" the IP before shutting down servers and killing the game and then subsequently shutting down Westwood and moving onto their next victim small game dev studio to plunder.

Nox was the very first RPG game that I played on PC. Incredibly interesting game with a very exciting story, at the time when I was a child. A separate pleasure was to pass the game for different characters, since each had a small difference in story and in a walk-through. What a nostalgia...

This game is Unique. I don't mean original - but Unique. It has this mesmerizing quality to it which comes once in every hundred games. Although it can be compared to Diablo, i must say - certain things i love much more in Nox. If only it had more characters, deeper skill trees, and was a little longer in terms of play time - this would have been a worthy opponent to the heavy-weight Diablo. As it stands - and like others said - a gem worth replaying (i have actually played through it in 2013, and it stood the test of time quite handsomely). Highly recommend even today (almost 2016) to all Diablo fans.

This is really really beautiful game, with rich world and interesting gameplay. A lot better than many modern "RPGs" with tons of money in promotion and idea-free gameplay.

*Graphics* Great. Animations and settings are varied and appealing. *Sound* Soundtrack and dialogues suit the game perfectly *Game* Three different characters can be played, each with his own unique contents: they start on different places with different quests, before meeting at a common point. Spells and abilities must be used accordingly to the situation (different spells for different foes). The AI works: enemies flee and consume health boosters when low on life, use spells to their advantage and never waste an opportunity. The plot is nothing special, the typical cliché of "good vs evil", but still pleasant. More people should play this game, because the multiplayer is quite nice, so I recommend it!

Despite the fact that this game is old, it probably still to this day has the best core gameplay of any action RPG ever created. The competitive multiplayer component is by far the best implementation of "Diablo like" player versus player combat in existence. Diablo's PvP is utterly pathetic in comparison (and I'm including all 3 Diablo games). From harpooning your opponent and dragging them around the level like a pet dog, to magic missiles with fantastic homing and aesthetics, to summoning creatures that can be made to roam around the level attacking people, to charging across the room, to shield and blocking mechanics, to realistic doors that can be opened partially just like real deal, to a great line of sight system, this game has an abundance of superb mechanics. The campaign and the main story is a bit corny, but the main gameplay is where the game really shines. It may have been a combination of the game's corny characters and the assumption that Westwood couldn't make an RPG that may have doomed the game to not being as successful. People assumed the game wasn't interesting without trying it. If you enjoy great LAN games with your friends, then this is one of the best LAN games in whole world of gaming by far. I definitely recommend it. This is one of the best games of all time, despite it not being well known. (PS: Another one of the most unknown best games of all time is a game called Sacrifice, by Shiny Entertainment.)

To this date this game has the best combat for any isometric/top view "hack n slash" rpg that I have ever played. It is a very unique game in it's own right. Pretty much every single game of this style copies the Diablo formula of having randomized items, one same story for every class, respawning enemies/bosses, and a centralized town that you keep coming back through each stage or act. Nox follows none of these formulas and is it's own game, which is something I appreciate in this day and age where unique and innovative games have nearly gone extinct in the non-indie world. The controls and hit detection are spot-on. The vision system is very cool too, basically you can't see around object blocking your view. Windows are very cool and especially cool in multiplayer. Each class you can choose has an entirely different playthrough than the other classes, which makes you actually want to complete the game with each character since you're not just rehashing the same thing you already played each game. The spells in this game are the best I've seen, even better than diablo ii. There is a large variety of spells that all have very unique characteristics. It actually takes skill to use them as well, instead of just pointing, clicking, and letting math do the work. On top of that, you can combine 3 spells together to be placed into a trap (wizard) or a suicide bomber type summon (conjurer) The enemy bosses are challenging and each pose a unique method required to defeat them. You actually have to know the enemies spells and skills in this game and know the proper way to evade them or counter them. I actually really enjoy the design of the towns as well in this game, everything is visually pleasing and just "makes sense". The multiplayer was very unique, on top of having your standard modes like deathmatch and CTF, they had a mode that was basically soccer, except of course you could kill each other while trying to get the ball into the goal. All in all the game was incredibly fun to play, with many unique features and sadly we probably won't get to see a game like this ever again with how the economy now works as far as games are concerned. Originality and innovation fall the wayside to tried and true formulas already proven to sell.

Nox is an exciting action RPG. One thing that's appealing is that while the game has interesting lore, not much of it is thrown at you at the beginning. Instead, it's given in small bits as the plot progresses. You play as a guy from our own world, so it's easy to relate. All in all, a wonderfully cheesy, humorous and entertaining take on the Diablo-type gameplay. P.S. You're going to love the Staff of Oblivion.

It's a really underrated gem. It has flaws and game is linear as hell, but because of my nostalgia and how good and entertaining this game is, i can easily forget those things and replay all 3 campaigns again. I liked this game as a kid, i like this game now, must be played by any fan of RPG games.

This game is still much fun today. A very unique game for the time it came out even though it has similarities to some games of the same era and genre. Simply put this game is fun with a pretty absorbing storyline.
