Overall, a very interesting game. The story, set in the 90s, is good, and the cast of characters is adorable. The protagonist fulfills her role. The chemistry between the cast is really great and sounds natural. The use of the handheld camera is quite charming and brings a novelty factor to this type of game. There are several different routes and endings, so the replay value is good. On the negative side, the villain is totally two-dimensional, the supernatural elements are very poorly explained, and the romance options are forced and out of place

I created a metacritic account to make sure this games gets the praise it deserves. Lost Tapes: Bloom & Rage is not a game you play to pass time. It’s a game you inhabit. This isn’t about points, optimization, skill trees, or feeding the endless hunger for dopamine that so much of contemporary gaming revolves around. Bloom & Rage asks something rarer and more demanding: presence. Emotional attention. **** story is deeply touching not because of spectacle, but because of restraint. It understands that immersion doesn’t come from constant stimulation, but from atmosphere, silence, memory, and the weight of small moments. The game breathes. It allows scenes to linger. It trusts the player to **** Lost Tapes: Bloom & Rage were a novel, it would be praised for its intimacy and emotional intelligence. If it were a TV series, critics would call it understated, honest, and quietly devastating. As a game, it does something even more powerful: it lets you walk through its emotional landscape instead of merely observing **** anyone who was an outcast teenager in the 1990s — someone who didn’t follow the mainstream script of how to act, dress, speak, or exist — this game resonates on a deeply personal level. It creates a profound sense of belonging. A sense of recognition. It establishes rapport not through nostalgia alone, but through emotional truth. What Bloom & Rage ultimately reminds us is that life is rarely about the main quest. It’s about the side quests — the conversations that seem trivial at the time, the friendships that shape us without asking permission, the people we meet who leave marks long after the moment has passed. It’s about being seen, even briefly, and seeing others in return. This is not a ****’s an **** one that stays with you long after the screen fades to black… and you enter the abyss

A tacky, lame, and overall intensely demoralizing story for the future of nostalgia-centric games. Nostalgia-slop for every person who got bullied in highschool and didn't understand why, even when the reason was painfully obvious.

Really emotional and nostalgic, something magical about this game. The amount of criticism and hate this game gets is ridiculous. But sadly you can't please everyone I guess. Always so critical, always so serious, and ever so ignorant... This is about 90's teenagers for god's sake. Just teens being teens, dont take it personally haha...

Probably the worst story game I’ve ever played. The whole premise is basically the protagonist reliving the cringy high school stuff you did and that’s it. None of the characters are interesting they’re just cliche characters you would see in a 3/10 highschool drama on Netflix. No actual plot development either. The only praise are the graphics and cool camera system but honestly it’s no where enough to make this game good whatsoever, however I’m sure tape 2 will aim to answer most questions in tape 1.

I really enjoyed the overall Tape 1 experience, especially the strong character development and the way teenage bonding is portrayed through awkward but relatable moments. While some of the dialogue can feel a bit odd at times, it actually adds to the authenticity and makes the conversations feel more **** pacing, however, may test the patience of less patient players, as it can feel slow at certain points. The only major drawback would be graphical issues.

Wonderful game...a hymn to the **** thing that bothers me the most is that people no longer know how to appreciate stories made from the heart and with **** of the most beautiful things I appreciated are the excellent moments of pause in the dialogues, (absurd to think that almost everyone has defined them as total boredom)..Continue playing your FIFA, Fortnite etc., but at least don't randomly review the games without even (most likely) finishing them...same goes for the reviewers..sold.

A rare excellent story game in the modern world. A gorgeous atmosphere with a leisurely viscous plot, gorgeous music. Personally, the game reminds me of the 1990 film It and the show Stranger Things. Personally, I found it very interesting to walk around with a camera and film everything around.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is not normally the content I'd gravitate towards, but it was free for my PS Plus subscription, and I read good things about it, so I gave it a shot. It comes in two parts, Tape 1 and Tape 2. Not a long game all-in, less than 15 hours, so an easy playthrough. It's rated M as there is a lot of swearing and mature themes. It says nudity but there is no nudity of any kind. Not even close - not sure why it lists that. Tape 1 is a slow burn, but I feel it's needed because it's all about relationship building. I genuinely started to care about these characters, and they're all very different. Tape 1 ends with a bombshell that stuck with me. Tape 2 starts to pick up more, but it is shorter and feels a bit rushed. There are a number of different endings based on how you've cultivated different relationships. I actually replayed Tape 2 the day after I beat it because I wanted the 'best ending'. Throughout the game, you jump between 2022 and 1995; it works pretty well, done through 'reminiscing'. I'm a kid of the 90's; I felt very nostalgic at times playing this, especially with the use of the video camera. The music is top notch and leans into the nostalgic tone, esp. Ruth Radelet's Dreamers, The Wild Unknown, and The Veil. I haven't played any Don't Nod games before (Life is Strange, etc.), but they seem to be pretty good at writing and character development. The voice work was relatively spot on, although a bit clunky and slow at times. The sci-fi aspect of this game was unnecessary IMO, and almost felt out of place because you're so invested in the characters and their relationships that is almost feels tacked on. But that's just my opinion. As I understand it, most of these Don't Nod games have this kind of element. I'd give it a 7.5/10. The half-baked sci-fi part and the ending in general could have been much better and less-rushed. But the writing, characters, and the music are very well done. I hope the game does well, since the ending (endings) set the table for Lost Records: Bloom & Rage 2... if Don't Nod can get out of their financial mess. I would definitely play it just because of the characters I became invested in.

Absolutely amazing game. The universe, the characters, the storyline, it all just **** you in. I’ve fell in love with this game, and I don’t think I can recover from the impact and beauty it’s subjected onto me. I really hope there will be a sequel to the game, it would be a shame if this is the last we see of Bloom and Rage.

A really stylish and ultimately wholesome game that feels like a marriage between Twin Peaks, Stranger Things and a number of 2000s young adult sci-fi/mystery series. Albeit the game gets off to a very slow start and has simple mechanics, if you buy into the kind of careful and detailed world-building that DON'T NOD are going for, you're in for a treat. The game's supernatural element is somewhat of a letdown, since its obscure and vague nature coupled with a lack of any significant explanation make it seem like a plot device that the developers didn't want to flesh out. Luckily, the stories and relationships between the characters stick the landing and even the semi-cliffhanger finale doesn't feel like a cop **** the vein of several of DON'T NOD's previous games, it was also nice to see a story centering around a group of properly fleshed-out female protagonists. Not all of the writing is stellar, mind you, but they really did manage to breathe life into the ragtag gals of Bloom & Rage. I especially enjoyed the "present day" segments, which includes a lot of reminiscing and reflection from the characters in their 40s - not something you see often in games. As a straight man in his mid-30s, I love it when games offer me a different POV that makes me zoom out from my own perspective. The love that the developers poured into this project really shine through and makes it a worthwhile experience.Definitely recommend to anyone who appreciates slower but atmospheric and story-heavy titles.

I absolutely adore its style. While playing, it gives off a vibe similar to watching Friends — after a while, you never want to part ways. They almost feel like your friends too. With its art style, narrative elements, and especially its music, the game is truly captivating. The way your choices affect the outcome at the end is also very well crafted. Don't Nod really knows how to do this.Unfortunately, when the game first launched, there were some issues with save data getting deleted. Sadly, I was one of those who lost their save files. I had to replay Tape 1 and collect many of the collectibles again in order to continue to Tape 2.I just wish they had made better use of the DualSense's haptic feedback features in the PlayStation 5 version.

Being a teenager is rough - everything is so confusing and suddenly nothing is as satisfying as it was during those simpler times - and actually that's kind of exactly how I felt playing this so, good job making a teenage simulator I guess? Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is a choice driven narrative adventure about 4 teenage girls who form a tight friendship over the Summer of '95, and if it looks like Life is Strange 3 that's because it basically is. It's from Don't Nod Entertainment who created the two mainline Life is Strange titles which are both incredible by the way, so as a fan I was hoping for more of that, but that's not exactly what we got. Most of the formula is here - a really cool setup for an intriguing mystery, a cast of deep, 3 dimensional, flawed, relatable characters, and a moment to moment script that really does a great job bringing everyone to life. But it does pretty immediately start to deviate from the Life is Strange recipe, and I have to pick my words very carefully here to make sure I don't spoil anything so bear with me. The first deviation I noticed from how Don't Nod has done things previously is that unlike those earlier games that start right out the gate with some crazy event or reveal, this is an incredibly slow burn. The whole first half you're left wondering things like "where is this going? What crazy thing is about to happen that actually sets things in motion. I'm waiting..."Now I was okay with that because I trusted this team to eventually deliver with something spectacular, even if it was just in the last 30 seconds of the game I believed they would make everything worth the wait in the end. But it never happened - there were some reveals and some twists way down the stretch, but they mostly just left me scratching my head and thinking things like "Why would that character say that? She would never say something like that." The ending in particular just didn't make any contextual sense to me so it wasn't satisfying at all - I was just confused and kinda mad, kinda like these angsty teens were the whole time. It almost felt like they were originally planning to do something really cool because the pieces were there, but then at the last minute they were like, "nah, let's just end it." So I walked away from this feeling a bit betrayed - I mean, Don't Nod has crafted some of my favorite stories in gaming, so what the hell happened here? I also have to consider the possibility that I just didn't get it, and if so I'll own that, but it doesn't change the fact that for me, this doesn't even compare to Life is Strange 1 or 2, doesn't even compare.

After playing tape 2 I can say this game is good. But tape 1 was better bc it was more natural and things weren't rushed. Tape 2 was very rushed and there was too many plotholes and mysteries that is obvious they're leaving it for a sequel but overall the game has great plot , good characters (especially kat) and amazing soundtrack

Tape 1 had a horrible pace, with 4 hours of nothing until the last hour. The characters were not well written at all, except for maybe one.

Toller Soundtrack. Einzig paar kleinere Grafik Fehler vielen negativ auf.

Game is a 7/10 But I'm rating it 10 to balance out the Anti-SJW bigots. Game is story focused with little in terms of gameplay. That said your choices matter, and the story that's being told is interesting. The core cast of characters are solid with well written, and occasionally funny dialogue. If you've played and enjoyed games like "Life is Strange" than you'll likely enjoy this.

very strong character-driven slowburn coming-of-age story. visually stunning. really cool and innovative dialogue system + camcorder feature. there are some little bumps here and there, but i'm very impressed by the courage to focus on the mundanity, while average gamer won't consider the characters developed unless they get superpowers, get murdered or murder someone else

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is an absolute disaster ****, lazy, and completely lifeless. The characters are forgettable, the story is shallow and weak, and the entire experience feels like a pathetic attempt to mimic Life is Strange but failing awkwardly and horribly. There’s nothing engaging or memorable about it; the dialogue is stiff, the pacing drags endlessly, and the developers seem desperate to create something meaningful but end up delivering a dull, uninspired mess. It lacks charm, depth, or any reason to care, making it one of the most soulless narrative-driven games in recent memory. I was just waiting for it to end, hoping it would at least have some redeeming quality, but it never did. The voice acting is atrocious, with performances that make the already cringeworthy characters even more unbearable. I genuinely regret spending money on something this disappointing—it was a complete waste of time and money.

Best narrative game I've played as of recent, the world is very detailed and the characters are so well written, nuanced and fleshed out. There's so many of those details you might miss on a first play so replayability is pretty crazy. It's a very slow paced and chill game for the most part so it was just up my alley. Beautiful ost as well, with gorgeous scenery. It really is one of dontnod's best games so far imo.

I've already played for two hours waiting for some action and storyline but literally nothing happens. I know based on reviews that it will become more interesting but why I should watch uninteresting scenes does give you nothing for a timeline of full movie with plot and ending? Life is strange got your attention right from the start, this one I can't call a game at all. It's sad that on ps5 I can't refund my money back.

It gives the same feeling as the original Life is Strange games (I mean LiS1 and LiS2). Great and exiciting story, likeable characters, beautiful scenery and nice soundtrack. I love everything about it. It's just sad that the episode is over so quickly, but I'm really looking forward to the next part.

I had higher expectations for the game. As many have said here, it takes an incredibly long time before anything happens. It’s basically a walking simulator, the dialogues are extremely awkward, and the characters are uninteresting. Towards the end, things finally start to happen, only to conclude with a cliffhanger that I found incredibly uninteresting compared to what they could have done. If I had to pay extra to play part 2, I wouldn’t have bothered buying it. I can’t understand who wrote this—it feels like it was made for people with no friends. I LOVED the first Life is Strange. This is nothing compared to that.

I loved LiS and LiS2. Third game was sadly a big letdown, and I started this one with the feeling that it's going to be the same way. First two hours really dragged on, but then the story started to pick up tremendously. If after first hour i would rate it 4, it improved to the 7-8 as the story unfolded. I recommend to give this game a chance.

I do not trust any positive review for this game. My wife and myself have both been huge fans of dontnod games. In fact Life Is Strange 2 was thef first game she finished, opening the path to a gaming life. I myself loved the original Life Is Strange. Everything about that game, the choices, the superpower, the amazing soundtrack. I will forever remember it. The downturn started with Colours. Such a basic adventure, very few choices, very few elements which made it special. We both skipped the LiS sequel, because we were both team Bae and we couldn't stand playing a Max game without Chloe. But we chose to PAY and play this THING. The most boring, uninteresting ever game we have ever played. Sure, the presentation is great, but the story is NON EXISTENT. NOTHING HAPPENES. The first tape is ALL AN INTRO. You have to stand 8 hours of talking with nothing ever happening, nothing, i mean NOTHING, only to end in a "SORT OF" event. There is nothing here. No game. It is a no-game game. The taping gamification is mundane to say the least. How can this game even exist? Who greenlit it? Why? Why would people choose to play this thing. There is no game. Just a mix of Stand By me, Stranger Things and most things 90s, but without a single drop of originality inside. I do not care about reliving my teenage years (and I am the same age, both my wife and myself are born in 83). But this game is NOT A GAME. IT IS A DISSAPOINTMENT. I paid my money for this? I paid MONEY for playing a game that has no playing. I really wish someone from Dontnod read this. Because we were genuine fans, invested in what came from this team. But not anymore. Sad.

This game feels like DONTNOD trying to recapture the feel and success of the original Life Is Strange, after several years of failures (with the exception of Jusant) Lost records just fails in every respect. The writing is awful and quite painful to endure, and the characters somehow manage to be dull and annoying. It feels like a game made for a VERY specific but very small audience, with very little broad appeal. Also, people were sick of the episodic format a LONG time ago! and making a terrible part one either insures that there is no part two,or that people simply do not buy any subsequent parts...thats just bad business.

I LOVED the camera mechanics! Seeing the shots I filmed on the T.V in Nora's garage was so cool. I really liked the characters as well, Kat was my favorite but had reasons to like all of them. The theme for the game was also very interested, your actions in the past effect you in the future except flipped, making choices in the future to change the past. This did not feel out of place at all and the conversations from the future helped push this narrative without being too distracting to the player. The 90s grunge/punk aesthetic was a great choice by Don't Nod and I'm very happy with how it was done. It felt very cozy to me. The only thing that takes away from the game is the dialogue. There were times when I was playing and had already gone through a dialogue tree just for the character to say the exact same line 2 minutes later. This happened more times than it should've and is something I hope gets fixed on Tape 2. However, I'm very excited for Tape 2 and have high hopes!

Nostalgia, intrigue, mystery, and, surprisingly, some tense horror lend together in a coming of age story with horrible repercussions. It lands so well. A bit of a slow build up pays off through the richness and depth of these characters. And the branches the story can take! Small choices end up having consequences down the line that are completely unexpected. On replays, I saw dialog options I never had on the first try, even with the same choices made previously. The game has depth, and has set the bar incredibly high for story-driven games. Don't Nod's Life is Strange may have been a crowning achievement of 2015, but if tape 2 is as good as this first one, there will be a new game every narrative-driven game gets compared to. Only Don't Nod could strike gold like this twice. Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is an experience, and if you've got any interest in games with heart, story, and a bit of psychological horror tossed in, you've got to check it out.

Fantastic game. The characters are so well done and the story is incredible. There are too many positives to list about this game but massive shout out for the sound track. This game is super worth the price. You can see it was be with passion by people who love this industy and have a soul. We should support more the developers. Already played tape 1 and feel in love with everything from the graphics, the setting, the characters and the story makes you feel nostalgic and warm inside.
