Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is a bizarre juxtaposition of an off-the-wall premise and aesthetics coupled with some basic shooting mechanics that stress trajectory and timing above all else. There isn’t a ton of meat to the gameplay, but it’s a fun little diversion and overall satisfying gaming appetizer.
It's refreshing to get a game that knows exactly what it wants to do, executes on that idea, but doesn't overstay its welcome. The central mechanic of precision projectile motion is unique, and Lichtspeer plays with the formula enough to keep the experience fresh right up until the end.
Challenging and an audiovisual gem: While the concept might seem simple this is a breath of fresh air that is as good on Switch as ever.

This game is so fun, the German setting does add to it and the intense gameplay really wants you to keep on going , a good pick up and play and for a cheap price.

Did Angry Birds and Game of Thrones just have a baby?!?!?! A powerful god has chosen your as his entertainment and now your must fight until you die, and die, and die some more! Yea, that’s about it story wise so let’s jump into the action. Lichtspeer is a Polish game dev company, with a great sense of humor. Right from the get go the sarcastically matter of fact introduction, let’s you know your in for a brutally honest, laugh in your face when you die experience. The game play is relatively simple. You aim by moving your joystick up and down, to align your spear arch to your enemy, shooting when you have it juuuuust right. You also have special attacks that you use when you spear is mid-air, one splits your spears into three spears, while another can split it into tons of small arrows. Then there are defensive skills that can help you out when the enemies get a little too close. When aiming at your enemies your main goal is to get a head shot, this kills certain enemies in one hit instead of two. Enemies move at different speeds, some fly, and some are hella annoying red fish that jump in and out of the water until they go Hannibal Lector all over your damn face. Starting off relatively easy, Lichtspeer quickly ups the difficultly. Adding tons and tons of enemies at once, ranged attacks and very unique attack patterns. It can seem overwhelming at first but incredibly fun once you get your feet wet. It feels great when you're combo headshotting tons of enemies in a row, especially those big blue hipster giants! When I first saw Lichtspeer gameplay I was impressed by the art style but thought the game play looked lack luster. Boy was I wrong, the gameplay is great fast paced skilled shooting which keeps you on your toes and increases the difficulty to keep you growing as a player. While it’s a small game, it is certainly big in quality. Be sure to watch my video review at YouTube channel TheFlannelFox

Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is a fine addition to the Switch eShop. Its presentation is stunning and its gameplay will leave players feeling completely spent after each play session. There were nights playing the title where my nerves were completely fried but I felt the need to clear one more level before bed. That sort of difficulty level can be a huge turnoff for some, but the game feels far more rewarding than unfair. Lichtspeer is definitely an unusual title, but that’s all part of its charm. It’s certainly not a game for everyone, but if a game with hipster ice giants and buckets of blood sounds up your alley, you’ll love Lichtspeer.

Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is a great enhanced port of the original game. While it does have a few more issues than its other counterpart, the additions of co-op and updated save mechanics make this an easy recommendation if you want a cheap indie title to play with friends.

Lichtspeer may not have the longest shelf life, but it's as fun and addictive as it is utterly bananas, and feels right at home on the Switch.

Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is bonkers (in a good way), has a nice core gameplay mechanic and boasts a nice aesthetic style, but ultimately suffers from cruel difficulty spikes and repetition. Fans of seriously challenging gameplay will get some enjoyment from this, and with a fair amount of time and patience, others will find their way to the credits too. If you have a willing friend, co-op gameplay is definitely recommended!

Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is based on a good idea and its gameplay is certain to attract players for some time. It also hits a wall at one moment, as the countless deaths and necessary repetition will push many players away and risks being finished mostly to fight frustration.

Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is fun for a bit but gets tiring quick and only really enjoyable as a party experience.
