Hellgate: London takes the elements that made the Diablo series classic, and puts them in new, invigorating setting of demonic threat, dark magic and high technology. The fresh world of Hellgate: London is its greatest asset, but sadly the game fails in capitalizing it properly, with quite shoddy plot and generic missions outside the main story. Nevertheless, Hellgate: London is a good action RPG with plenty to enjoy. How the multiplayer system works when the game hits stores will ultimately determine the staying power of the game. Really enjoyable game - could do with a remaster on consoles. Nice mix of action with rpg lite.

The game was re-released as a single player game in November 2018, on Steam. It became clear very soon, that this version of the game is ridden with so many bugs, that it is fair to call it unplayable. A year after the re-release, the framerate still drops at times to below 1 frame per second, boss reward chests do not contain any loot, etc. Publisher and developer keep quiet, and do not even confirm the bugs.

If Hellgate: London had appeared on shelves with no hype and no known links to past gaming glories then we'd probably be sat here at the end of the review chatting about how it was a bit of an undiscovered gem that fused FPS sensibilities with Diablo-esque loot collection and character customisation to provide a thoroughly enjoyable, if slightly unpolished, experience. Unfortunately we don't have that luxury and the game's high profile throws niggles like the repetitive level design, the often dull quests and the stability issues into harsh relief.

На игру "Hellgate: London" я засматривалась уже давно, ещё когда только-только в сети появился вступительный ролик к ней. То видео мне понравилось своим сюжетом и качеством, мир, прорисованный в нём привлёк внимание намёком и обещанием неплохого геймплея и интересного сюжета. Однако, честно признаюсь, ожидала я совсем другой игры и представляла себе всё несколько иначе. Я думала, что это будет очередная ролевая игра про тёмные тоннели метро, выживание, добывание ресурсов, общение с персонажами и множество побочных мини-квестов, как, например, в серии Метро или The Elder Scrolls, но только с оригинальным миром - Лондоном под властью тёмных сил. А установив, я увидела дьяблоподобный беспрерывный экшен с абсолютно линейным сюжетом, не такой мрачный и крайне простой по миссиям. Но это не значит, что всё очень плохо. Просто игра оказалась представителем несколько иного поджанра ролевых игр. Итак, мы оказываемся в мире разрушенном атакой сил армии демонов. Остатки человечества успели укрыться в метрополитене Лондона и вполне неплохо там обустроились, организовав оборону и социальную систему, основанную на ордене рыцарей-защитников. Технологиями они обладают продвинутыми, но и магией не гнушаются, чему подтверждением являются классы персонажей, один из которых требуется выбрать в начале игры. Далее сменить специализацию персонажа вам не дадут, как и переучить его на другой класс, так что, если вы поймёте, что магия или, наоборот, огнестрельное оружие - это не ваша стихия, то придётся начинать новую игру с персонажем другой специальности.

Underneath the frustrating instability, behind the graceless chat window, and beyond the procession of NPC dialog boxes, you tickled that deep primordial need to gather more stuff and get stronger. Loot and leveling are the essence of any RPG, and you're equipped to satisfy that jones.

I am somehow still going back to this game here and there and still like it. IT pass test of the time and this is something valuable 9/10 than for value of game time.

It should have been so much better! All the components in this game are solid however the game never comes together to create an experience as good as Diablo 2 or similar. There is still great potential in this game and it is still fun to play as a curiosity peice.

Oyun çok iyi RPG ögeleri taşımasına rağmen görevlerdeki ve senaryodaki basitlik nedeni ile 5 puan veriyorum. Özellikle single-player modunda tek başınıza gezip yaratık kesiyorsunuz başka birşey beklemeyin.
