It's a fairly flawed game that's kind of like a darker version of **** Valley. But it's not cozy, the story is confusing, and it's almost impossible to play without using a guide. The beginning is the very hardest, but once you unlock the mine and quarry, and automated zombies, it's fairly easy. It's just that there is so much information that's hard to discover without insane amounts of trial-and-error or using a guide.

This will be a thorough breakdown. Graphic Design: 8/10 SFX: 4/10 Voice Acting: 2/10 (Better than Minecraft!) Playability: 9/10 Fun: 7/10 Relaxing: 10/10 Variety of Play Styles: 3/10 Basically, this is a fantastic farming-system game. If you love crafting, scavenging, building, re-purposing, making lots of money for no reason other than to cover the basics, this game is for you. There's a lot of room left to be desired; the entire story is about 20% of the game at best, because farming dominates everything else. I believe this is a "proof-of-concept," which is why it's getting a sequel that appears from the trailer to be hugely expansive. The only DLC I played was Breaking Dead, to be clear. I got this game for free and just finished playing the entire way through. Here's my wishlist for GK2: -A Map that is at least 2-4x the size and diversity of the original map -Motive to "perfect" your graveyard. In the base game, the Bishop is like, "Get your graveyard to above 100 rating!" (which, at first, seems impossible, but then once you figure out how to max-out all the technologies, gain infinite resources, and craft 12-white skull corpses? Really is nothing). -Continuous expansion, or missions to keep improving the items you can craft -Story-based motive for all the various recipes you can make at the cooking station. Seriously--didn't even inspect half the recipes, let alone attempt to make them. -Expand the Zombie functions of the game. The GK2 trailer shows zombie hoards, so that is coming, but maybe there's room for other functions? -Expansion on the supporting characters and their functioning the world. Would love to see more sinful stuff vs. righteous stuff in the game. -Fishing was entirely unnecessary and I got through the game ignoring that feature pretty much altogether. -There are multiple supporting NPCs who appear, but do not really have any other function besides, "You cannot use these trees/resources/harvest this stuff! Har!" Would love to see that change. Overall, I think the system is interesting, but needs a lot of work to "perfect" it. This is still thinking on the smaller side, and I would love to see this expand to like a Civilization-sized game in terms of advancements and tech.

"Walk up to thing and hold F simulator". Then once you press F enough you get a new thing to press F on. Still enjoyable enough to **** you in for a while.

Sure, it'd a bit grindy, it has some flaws, but this is genuinely some of the most fun I've had in a game. Got a full plate with the sequel announcement.

I guess it's ok for what it is, but the gameplay loop gets stale quite quickly. There are many similar games, that I think are vastly superior, **** Valley being the obvious one.

lazy design from the very beginning of the game. slow, inconvenient, QOL issues left and right, and instead of fixing the basics they just sell more and more DLC. 50 dollars for the whole bundle? thats not even a good joke. who in their right mind wants to click this many times to proceed through dialogue, and what sentient being on the planet would need the text speed to be so slow? do this a bunch of times, then you can graduate to holding F while a progress bar increases extremely slowly! the only reason im giving this 3 instead of 0 is because ive seen quite a few people say they enjoyed it, but im not wading through this slop just so i can presumably find out that the rest of the game is even more slop.

Graveyard Keeper is a amusing and challenging management simulator with a great soundtrack. All the DLC´s included it will keep you busy in a positive way.

You died and become graveyard keeper in medieval era, so weird. I love how burning witch, autopsy, and many gore content being normal. Underrated.

В игре очень много унылого гринда и чем дальше двигаешься по веткам прокачки, тем больше на тебя вываливается унылого, репетативного мусора в виде игрового процесса. Игровые дни очень короткие, ничего не успеваешь. Бесит система с черепками у трупов, нужно сильно парится чтобы у каждого было хорошее качество, проще идти через урны с прахом

It's ok. The game boiled down: npc "hey I need 5 items" > item is locked behind a needed upgrade to unlock a resource and a special crafting table (which there are absurdly so many crafting tables to unlock) > grind to get XP to unlock tech advancemens > build a crafting table specific to the item that you'll probably only use a couple of times before you need to upgrade it again > craft item > give to npc > now different npc "I need 10 different items" > rinse repeat. There's not much depth to the game. Just constantly working on unlocking upgrades so that you can finish NPC quests.

This game is a sort of **** valley but with more humour and you deal with corpses, which can be morbid I know but the game mechanics are actually fun. you have to manage your wor and with the lexpansions they add also the possibility to have zombies helping you in gethring resources and crafting stuff you need. OverallI found it enjoyable and relaxing at times.

So many people say this game isn't good because they want it to be ****, it is its own game, and it's amazing, you may have to look some things up but this game is a treasure. If you want to play **** then play ****, if you want to play a game where you run a church and graveyard and can make human skin into books and cook sandwiches of human flesh, this game is for you. Yes, some things may be overly complicated but it always seems to feel worth it. I played this game in the past and i didn't get much done but I recently went back in with a more open mind and I found myself very interested by all the different things there is to do, i love the random quests and how vague they are so you can find out yourself. if you ever find yourself stuck don't be afraid to look it up.

Игра слишком затянута. Очень часто не понимаешь что делать. Без вики никак.Есть приличное количество багов, но не особо критичных. Советую

Really addictive game. I am a fan of Harvest Moon so similar game but with really good (a bit sarcastic) sense of humour is something that fits me perfectly :) When I have enough time - for sure will play some add ons.

To enjoy this game, you have to be a lover of the game style like **** Valley or even Harvest Moon. It mixes crafting, farming and RPG with very intelligent humor. There are many easter eggs like the names of the DLC or the vampire hunter (aka Geralt de Rivia). The history is long and you have to be ready for repetitive tasks - like the other games of the same gender.

Just good alternative to **** Valley. Even in some places it looks better.

CONS: - It confuses you and nothing clear is explained to you at first - When you fish, you pick flowers or dig up the remains of trees ... etc. you do not gain knowledge points. - There is no upgrade system for the buildings that will have to be advanced, you have to demolish the old ones and then rebuild - It's a bit strange and confusing because there is no list of recipes for some items, you have to lose a little through the game to discover them for the most part.

Who knew tending a graveyard could be so fun? Making money is a pain until very late in the game, and creating anything is even more of one, but I definitely enjoyed my time with this one. Date Completed: 2021-11-19 Playtime: 56h Enjoyment: 7/10 Recommendation: It's pretty fun. Some things are a pain but otherwise worth the time.

Simple graphics, but such a good narrative and gameplay. Good humor. Feels way better than **** valley or other games of this genre that I've tried. The only thing I did not like is the ending. Not going to spoil, just felt so short and abrupt for me, did not explain the story as much as it should. Found out later that you need not end the game, but play all the DLCs to get any understanding of the main plot.

"Gate Keeper" Review Good: Decent retro graphics as in it doesn't use any cheap rotation effects but instead actually has frames for things like swinging an axe instead of rotating a static png. The music while decent only really allows you to listen to 1 song 90% of the time. Bad: Moving the goal post for nearly every quest. Every time the game tells you to do something for someone, you expect to get the reward you were promised but not in Graveyard Keeper. Take getting the stamp as an example, you have to do like a dozen quests with gated requirements tied to the tech tree. 40 hours in and I still have stacks of meat waiting to be stamped so that I can sell them... The progression is absolutely terrible, the reward for giving someone what they want is them asking for more things. I've done 3 quests for snake and he has offered NOTHING in in return but rather wants me to do MORE for him. No meat stamp, not even a HINT of the location of Charmies necklace, but rather "HEY I WANT MORE". Just look at the stupid skull gary, he asks for beer, then wine, then cognac but offers NOTHING in return but vague "I think u might find something if u talk to so and so". I'm about to open a Tavern but yet to get the meat stamp to sell meat, so dumb. The economy is hilarious, you can only sell things to the people that produce them? Why the hell would the guy who lives on a quarry want to buy stone from me when he can get it for free? Same thing with crops and wood when it should be the exact opposite, the dude with a garden full of carrots... Wants to buy more carrots? Pepega developers... Overall: Game is fun at first but the terrible progression, moving of goal posts, lack of rewards, arbitrary tech tree unlocks, constant gating, etc completely ruin it.

This game is alright, it's interesting and unique, quite addictive, not too bad to begin with but let down by slow overly grindy game play. It ends up feeling a bit too tedious. It feels like they trying to do whatever they can to waste your time in the most unfun ways imaginable. The character is so slow, everything is slow about this game. Most of the time I have no idea what I am doing, the game feels all over the place. It lacks QoL improvements such as if you forget what items are needed to make something there is no tool tip you have to go back to the station or look up wiki. It's also horrible that you can't skip to the day you want and have to wait before you can go hand in a quest to a a character that only appears on a certain day. The game has a lot of things that aren't obvious and you have to be psychic to figure it out yourself. And that to me shows how flawed this game is. Quests can also be very vague. When you play this game you need so many tabs open. Also there are things you can't sell and end up with too much of such as honey. I usually love crafting games and don't mind a bit of grind, but not when I feel theres not much else to it. Got so sick of forgetting something and having to slowly walk back for the millionth time. Can't stand this tedium for another second so watched the game ending and glad I didn't waste my time playing anymore as ending was terrible and not worth the torture of playing this game. This is a very average, borderline bad game can't recommend it, does not deserve a score higher than 5.

Graveyard Keeper offers more **** experience that revolves around dilemmas that need to be solved and cemetery management. I put in around 90+ hours to complete the story at my own leisure and took it in as a great time waster. The game requires patience, repetition and can be considered a casual game as there is no rush to complete your tasks. The game early on does have a lot of walking to an from locations but over all you can bypass most issues with transportation stones. I had no issues with the game itself and felt it was a great game that offers a lot in terms of content. The Graphics and soundtrack are pretty epic. TLDR, I would highly recommend the game if you like heavy grinding and casual time waster. Aside from that, I wouldn't compare it to **** Valley. The core of **** Valley is community based and was more of a life sim or farm sim type of game. Graveyard Keeper was more of a cemetery management, dilemma type of game that does revolve around similar features of crafting, farming and harvesting. While both goods games they offer different experiences. I would ignore the reviews that compare the two. You will be disappointed if you are looking for a **** Valley alternative here.

Great game with awsome climate. Story is even better. Soundtrack takes you to medival world full of legends and monsters

This is what indie should be like. A nice story, good humour, and god, what a gameplay! The game gives a player tons of opportunities to entertain, from farming (actual farm with growing vegetables) to dungeon adventures, alchemy, crafting, zombie mines management etc. And it is not scripted at all, you can do what you like whenever and how ever you like. One of the best games i played this year.

Поистине, среди игр подобного жанра ЭТО симулятор шедевра. Его сравнивают с Стардью, но, я считаю, только потому, что она вышла раньше. Если бы Graveyard Keeper вышел первее, гарантирую, что уже Стардью сравнивали бы с ним) По факту механики этих игр очень похожи. Есть много крафта, фермерство, торговля, различные способы строительства и добычи. Сюжет очень забавен и необычен. Игра по-настоящему затягивает неповторимой атмосферой и прикольными персонажами. Последние разговаривают на очень смешном языке (каждый со своим акцентом), от которого я чуть не сполз под стол от смеха. ВНИМАНИЕ: если вы незнакомы с данным жанром, игра может вас сильно затянуть, лишить сна и личной жизни! Будьте бдительны :)

Highly recommend you to play this game. It's very addictive and fun. Be prepared though, lots of grind! Sound track is amazing!

i recommend playing it , nearly all the problems got solved in the dlc'es now its not graindy and slow like before , THIS GAME IS NOT A **** copy ; this game about gravekeeping and alcamy and surgaring , this game focus is not on plants and soclizing with npcs pros -good artstyle -good music -good dialog and humor in it -creative ideas -addictive and time consuming -good tech tree cons -unplayable without wiki this game is just huge and need alot of reading to know what to do -missions are a mess , u dont know what to do ,when and where , there is alot of missions that need onther missions so while u are doing one mission u feel like u are handicaped by other mission that need separt tech trees , u need to plan all of it alot without a tool of planning , -npc's are just dead u cant intract with them they have no feelings u cant give gifts or make friends the problem in this game the u just feel LONLEY -the map is quite small summary this game is fun to play and injoyable but sometimes it gets frostarting planning everthing and doing alot of things at the same time and searching in wiki to know what to do all the time becasue there is no help from the game whatsoever

Entertaining and solid game with an interesting story and a very beautiful ending, the game is very good at keeping you busy and making progress noticeable.

Let's get this short. I know why people give this games this rating. And they are mostly right - game is mostly "Get me fish. No rod? Talk to that guy. But he wants first golden ring of virginity, but you need to first research this to get that, but you don't have enough bush chopping points so get those and then do few more quests, after that you should be able to complete that 1 quest you wanted to get +5 dmg on your sword". So yeah, it's like this mostly. But if you like to play game while you're waiting for game to find, you have only few mins to play, or you just want to chill while listening to music, this game is for you. It has story, it has gameplay, but it's not for everybody and mostly **** Valley is better in any way. But hope you got my point :) ~10 hours so yeah I can critic this game pretty much from every angle.

This game is quite obviously a rushed unfinished attempt to capitalize on **** valley's success. Sadly it lacks the polish **** had on release. Instead of SV's amazing soundtrack with some 30 different and well crafted songs you get ... One... that's right just one song on loop the entire game. Completely rips off **** valley farming bit for bit. You will be doing way more farming than graveyard keeping in this game. The graveyard is a complete afterthought here. Gone are the meaningful relationships with the townsfolk as well. The dialogue written for them is very short and in most cases story lines are STILL unfinished after selling 2 DLC releases at 35$ for the full (unfinished) game now on steam. Latest DLC finally adds dialogue to a few characters so they can give you tedious fetch quests. The tavern in this game is totally pointless unless you just like to make more money for no particular reason whatsoever while you watch your tavern guests aimlessly walk around saying "get out of my way" lol seriously lazy programming just getting this out the door as fast a possible to get rich on that SV nostalgia. Seriously a shameless cash grab. Take a pass on this one unless you want to endlessly grind things for no reward at the end. Still completely unfinished concept and not very well though out.
