G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra
As I said before, in the year of our Lord 2024 the fact that THIS is the G.I. Joe game that we get just feels bad. While G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra isnt a terrible game, its not a very fun one to interact with. From floaty combat to its subpar boss battles, I couldn’t help but think that this game was capable of so much more. Even with unlockable content to chase adding some replayability to the game, the real question is if gamers or even fans should bother playing this one at all.
I’d say G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra can be fun, provided you can get some friends together on the couch to play through the game with you. If not, as a single-player experience, there’s far better options on the market nowadays. It’s a good looking game, again I really did dig the design of these classic characters, but there’s not a lot else supporting the experience that would keep me coming back again and again.
G.I.JOE: Wrath of the Cobra is a competent, if unremarkable beat 'em up that doesn't stand out in anyway beyond the attached IP. Let down by repetitive combat and lacklustre enemy variety.

This nostalgic beat 'em up is fun, but not on the level of "Streets of Rage 4" or "Shredder's Revenge". With its colorful pixel artwork and retro soundtrack, the game is like a brawler from the SNES era. But it can get repetitive due to its very generic design. The enemy types are limited, the combat is simple and the boss fights are underwhelming. Composed of 12 stages, "Wrath" can be beaten in about two hours. You can play the chapters in any order and local co-op supports up to four players. Unfortunately, there is no online option. You can unlock two other Joes and plenty of modes, but it takes some grinding. Overall, "G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra" will please fans of the 80's animated show. I would rate it with a 7 out of 10.

This game is terrible. Really boring and you get absolutely no continues. If you were going for retro arcade why forget the continues. They give you only 3 lives and expect you to go through, especially for the final level. It's impossible. The difficulty spikes no matter the level, it's glitchy and no continues if you die. Do yourself a favor save your $25 for a actual good game that is out. I regret it. Hopefully they'll do an update to fix this. Wouldn't hold my breath though.

I just don't really understand so many of the decisions made for this game. I'm going to go into spoilers about the "story" and such below, so if you just want my opinion.. If you are a fan of G.I. Joe there is fun to be had here, especially if you have another friend who is into G.I. Joe as well. If you are a fan of the beat em' up genre and coming off Shredders Revenge, or Streets of Rage 4 and are looking for the next good side scrolling beat em' up.. This isn't it. There is fun to be had if you are a Joe fan. I certainly haven't laughed as hard as I laughed at this game for a long time. My friend and I are eager to play it again. It was worth the $22 I paid for it. I probably got $22 of enjoyment out of it. But I Probably wouldn't have gotten that same enjoyment without another G.I. Joe loving friend near me. My kids who love Shredder's revenge didn't like this game. My Joe loving friend and I talked about this as I write this review and we feel satisfied for $22, but if this was not attached to the G.I. Joe IP then $22 would have felt like way too much. It's not even a good "mediocre" beat em' up. I really don't understand why you'd bother putting in the effort with the G.I. Joe license.. I don't get why this company released a demo over 6 months ago got a bunch of feedback and changed absolutely nothing about it. It took my friend and I about 2 hours to beat the game. We're probably going to go back try to beat the harder modes unlock everything but after that.. I don't know I don't see coming back to this like I do Shredders Revenge or SoR. In the end.. For the Joe fan.. It's probably "good enough," but the honest truth is this game isn't going to pull in any beat em' up fans into sticking around to check out G.I. Joe later.. Which is such a shame.. Because this was a chance to make something truly special here and someone either the devs or Hasbro or both failed the fans. Unfortunately, this means the best G.I. Joe game remains the NES games or the 2015 fan game attack on cobra island. Read a Full review here: ****/r/gijoe/comments/1ftv3a0/gi_joe_wrath_of_cobra_game_review/

G.I. JOE: Wrath of Cobra is the 2D arcade beat-'em-up game your inner child wanted. Who doesn’t want to feel like they are in an episode of a cartoon with their friends?

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is an energetic, nostalgia-fueled beat-em-up that has some length and technical issues, but not enough to seriously dampen the solid side-scrolling gameplay and excellent retro aesthetic.

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is a game that, despite having the ingredients to be a worthy homage to classic brawlers, fails in almost every important aspect.

Worth Playing
G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is a fun game, but it is also flawed in several different ways. The differences in characters provide some incentive to try out everyone, but the combat is plagued with issues in every category. The unlockables are fun, but you have to be able to stomach the grinding needed to unlock everything. The levels are nice but feel like they go on forever; the presentation is good if you can ignore some of the audio issues. Depending on the price, Wrath of Cobra might still be worth checking out for big G.I. Joe fans, but it also could've been so much better.

Wrath of Cobra is a game that shows the love the developers have for the source content through and through. Unfortunately, that love doesn’t equal a polished and fine-tuned gaming experience. It is can enjoyable romp for fans to see and experience, but its shortcomings and technical issues keep it from being something they will truly enjoy.

Colourful visuals and a nice soundtrack aren't enough to save G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra from being a disappointment overall. Thanks to your limited combat options, dull boss fights and overuse of grunt enemies, it's just not all that fun to play.
