A worthy alternative to the likes of Dirt. [Apr 2013, p.79]
So is it worth playing? Actually, yes, though you’ll want to watch some footage first, or be aware of the limitations of rally racing. There is no traffic or simultaneous opponents, and the lack of precipitation takes away the fun and unpredictable elements of rally. With no snow, ice, rain or mud, the times you’re racing against feel fixed rather than based on the day’s conditions.
An epinepfrine injection for twenty bucks is going to teach you how to drive sideways, and how to fit as many lights on your hood as you have bulbs in your flat. A rushed addition to the rushed Forza is a great fun, but with its compromises. Maybe, just maybe we would be talked into giving it eight, if there were twice as many cars.

The Forza Horizon Rally Expansion Pack is the best DLC in the Forza Horizon series. It is not long-lasting, there is not much content in it, but they added that what the first part of Horizon lacked - the rally. Yes, there were gravel races in the main game, but there were very few of them relative to others compared to subsequent parts. 5 cars, classic rally sports, not enough except the Audi Quattro. It takes less than 5 hours for all DLC, but it's worth it.

really expensive for a short content, I would rather buy a new racing game for that money then buy this. this feels like is just a rip off from Dirt. theres not much gameplay finished it in under an hr and not fun anymore once you get used to map. not many challenges

Concerning racing games the tracks are as important to the game as the cars are. They have an inherent value as you are supposed to race the tracks over and over, getting better and better. You also get more fun out of it by using different cars and set-ups. Changing the difficulty settings will also make things interesting. In this respect racing tracks have limitless value. Sure you can race through all of the stages in this Rally DLC in just fifty-sixty minutes with no retries. However you are highly unlikely to get a respectable position until you have learned the tracks and gotten better cars, or modified some of the ones you have. The developers made a wise decision by setting the difficulty-level so high in this DLC. It forces you to learn the tracks and get better cars. That is clearly what they intended. So if you don't have a "racing game mentality" you might not get your money's worth with this DLC. However if you love track racing in all it's forms (F1, SBK, Dirt, Forza etc) then you probably will. This rally DLC is very much a treat to the latter rather than the former.

Forza Horizon Rally is a very fast and highly atmospheric arcade rally expansion. The tracks are nicely bouncy. How about a full rally game next? [Feb 2013]

As a complement this expansion is a great addition to Forza Horizon, with a very different flavor of what is included on the disc.

Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios proved with Forza Horizon that the franchise could successfully be transported from the asphalt to an open world. The Rally Expansion Pack adds a whole new dimension to this, in which racing with juiced up monsters on wheels across dirt roads feels very spectacular. Too bad it isn't as faithful to the real thing as we hoped though.

Is the expansion pack worth the 1600 Microsoft points? Well if you want to have a couple of new tracks and also multiplayer events then this content is in your spot, but there is more to spend 1600 points on and this content is not it. Playground studios have made a decent attempt to bring the rally experience to Horizon but let things slide with not letting you explore the Colorado area and see the sites away from the busy streets.

The core of the Horizon Rally DLC is solid; it recreates superbly the rally racing experience. Only in the additional features does this DLC fall short, which is less forgivable given its price point.

Horizons rally DLC is way overpriced considering what you get. Go buy a really rally game like Dirt 2 instead, it's totally doable at the same price and at least twice as good.

Good expansion. Slightly overpriced but still good. The way they have re-made existing roads is cool, a lot of great turns and elevation. The cars are good, but you have probably experienced them before in Forza 4, they were all in there. But it's the same story with most of the DLC. Yes the cars were in Forza 4, but why complain? You get to use more cars you weren't able to use before in this game.

The short & sweet: It's good and it's fun, but it's not worth $20. Note: I rated the main game of Forza Horizon a 10 (loved it!) PROS: Full on rally stages just like the Dirt games, maintains the Forza quality/realism for rally, you can rally upgrade any car in your garage (using a GTR for rally is pretty nuts), and there's a good chunk of new achievements along with it. CONS: Not enough content - this is the biggest thing. I finished the whole thing within a few hours, and there are only five new cars. Really? For the money they charge Turn 10 could stand to add a good 10-20 new cars with an expansion pack like this. Only other thing I could see as a con is that they basically just re-used roads from the main game and converted them to dirt roads. If you've played most of the main game you'll notice this pretty easily. I think it's a good starting point, and I'll be happy to see where they go with the rally portion of racing in the future Forza games.
