Good mix of board game, classic pen & paper, turn-based combat and roguelike with few new features.

I’m highly impressed with Ironoak Games’ debut. If you’re ready for a long and painful (the difficulty level is so high!) but immensely satisfying wander across colorful fantasy realms, do not delay and buy this wonderful roguelike. [07/2018, p.48]

For The King is a very creative take on the Boardgame and RPG genres with a great focus on multiplayer. The single player mode is more an afterthought than anything else, depriving For The King of much of its allure.

Very fun game with people but not the best singleplayer, nice progression and overall a pretty good experience

As simple as a mobile game, the only positive is local co-op. Would not have enjoyed if we were sober.

For the King: Fun when trying to beat the hardest difficulty. Many things to tweak and optimize for a game winning run. 8/10

This is a remarkable premier for the Canadian team IronOak Games. This varied adventure constantly feels like you’re playing a board game with enhanced roleplaying, not only because of the wood carved design of the characters.

To simply put it, For the King offers one of the most enjoyable experiences in playing mixtures of roguelike RPG and turn-based strategy. This formula works great for those who like to play alone, and it much more better when playing co-op with other players/friends.

A great DnD like game. My party got it's ass kicked by a leprechaun then got killed of by a ghost that looked like death. SOO GG

A very solid rogue-like RPG-lite packed full of procedurally generated content. It looks great, and the developers are still adding new content and features. The game also has several game modes, from campaigns to extended dungeon dives and lets you unlock new game content (loot, encounters, classes and cosmetics) as you play through by finding Lore books.

One of the most enjoyable roguelikes of recent years, with the heavy emphasis on RNG saved by some fun co-op options.

For the King isn’t hesitant to punish players for dumb moves or unlucky rolls.

For The King refuses to hold your hand, making it a real challenge that feels rewarding. Despite its slow combat, there’s a ton of enjoyable content to make it worth your while.

A huge amount of love has gone into this. It's part board game, part fighting fantasy, part D&D. And encased within are a few nods to fiction greats, which shows that the developers really loved making this. And the result is really very good and satisfying. It's the best game I have played for a number of years. And I am a 35 year old seasoned gamer. Excellent on many levels. And the co op mode is an added bonus that adds another 100 it so hours onto what is already a hundred plus hour game. Fantastic job. And from a new developer too. I shall be watching these guys with interest from hereon out.

Quite nice thing to play with friends from time to time, solo experience is quite bad.

Very nice and light rogue-like RPG/tabletop. We had some fun and you can do so too :)

Decent with friends, gets really repetitive and annoying though. Wouldn't really recommend.
