Writing has degraded since Three Houses. Single save file and multiple routes leads to clunky over world gameplay. Battle maps are repetitive and certain classes have zero niche.

Terrible bloated mechanics add nothing to the game and just make it longer. Cant even play as your created character until 50 hours into the game. They give you Date fruits to grow in a farm and if you use fertilizer it just changes the type of fruit and you cant recruit certain characters. Oh and they put hard autosave that you cant disable into the game. THIS ISNT FIRE EMBLEM **** NINTENDO

Takes what made Three Houses great and adds more character interaction in the form of dungeon exploration with a sort of JRPG "lite" party mechanic. The recruitable characters are endearing, and all of the Lords have interesting unique mechanics that ultimately affect the final world state when they all gather. Some of the best maps I've seen in the franchise,. to boot. 'Tis peak, milord.

If you loved the FE: 3 Houses monastery stuff you might like Fortune's Weave as well. But it has a lot of issues: the pacing is all over the place. The routes start out interesting but are then padded with huge amounts of side activities that are just not fun. And while you keep some progress such as completed side quests the gameplay loop starts back at 0 for each route. Some interactions between the main characters are great but a lot of other characters are not fleshed out and don't have any meaningful impact. The classic strategic Fire Emblem battles really took a back seat in this game and if the next FE will continue down this path then they lost a long time fan.

Amazing game. As a long time fan of the Fire Emblem series that's played every game, Fortune's Weave is amazing. It's like they took the story and character writing of Three Houses and combined it with the map design and action of Engage.

Oh my God I am so disappointed in this game. I have been a hardcore Fire emblem fan since 2007 when I first played Sacred Stones on the GBA. And I hate what Nintendo has done to the franchise. Engage was fine, but I hated how Three houses tried to turn Fire emblem into this weird, stupid time management simulator. I hated how 80% of the game was running around Garreg Mach. I hated how The game's pacing was structured. I hated how lifeless the class system felt. Fortune's Weave takes everything I hated about Three houses and makes it even worse. Another stupid time management, persona wannabe game where the tactical battles feel like an after thought. The horrible pacing of spending the bulk of the game introducing characters and then rushing through the game's climax. Also, the maps in this game are annoying, more so than even the infamous Fire Emblem Fates Revelation maps. I'd play Revelation over THIS game any day of the week. The maps are often gimmicky and unbalanced and just downright cheap. Not fun to play at all. Recruiting allies in this game is a frustrating, annoying, grind. It's a pain. This game's sense of progression is just broken. Three houses, and Fortune's weave both do not feel like true Fire Emblem games, and to be honest I wish they were not. I wish Nintendo had made an entirely new IP for this garbage and left Fire Emblem alone to do what Fire emblem does best. A rich, rewarding, fun, engaging tactical RPG experience. Fire Emblem used to be my favorite game franchise. Now the series just leaves me feeling heart broken and frustrated. Fortune's weave is an extremely disappointing game. Even though I hated what Three houses did to the series, I still went into Fortune's weave with an open mind and a lot of hope that I would love it. I WANTED to love this game so badly... but No. It's official, Nintendo killed my favorite franchise, they assassinated the core identity of Fire Emblem... If you have not yet played Fortune's weave then PLEASE. Don't buy it. Nintendo does not deserve your money for this abomination.

This is the worst Fire Emblem game I have ever played. After spending over 150 hours on it, I found it to be pure torture due to the numerous locked variables, switches, restrictions, and hidden requirements that made it feel like I was constantly doing things incorrectly. I'll be fair, and for every dumb thing this game does, I will give it a -1 rating. 1. Leda Arc: felt like I wasted 40 hours of my life, and it was enough to make me start disliking this game. Did I learn anything new about the FW story? No. What was accomplished? Nothing. Why did I guide her to the ending? No reason! It felt like coming out of a bad relationship, and I'm going to need Leda to return 40 hours of my life. 2. Invisible Paralogue Requests: Paralogues can spawn without alerting the player, and some of them are locked to specific routes. I beat the normal arcs five times, which is already more than the four times needed, and after doing research, I found out that certain paralogues are excluded from certain routes. So you want to replay as Cai?Tough luck. This one paralogue is a Leda/Detrich route-exclusive. And I'm damn sure not playing Leda again. 3. Frequent Autosaving That Constantly Deletes Your Manual Save. The game doesn't tell you when a quest appears in town, but it will definitely tell you when you fail it. You overslept? Quest failed. Now saving. You're one grid away from a quest and one grid away from town on a Saturday. Do you complete the quest, or spend one turn checking town to see if a paralogue randomly spawned? Checks town. Wrong choice. There was no paralogue in town; you failed the side quest. Now saving. 4. No Instant Teleport Back to Base. This would have been a saving grace for the game's random weekly respawns -_-. Walking three days away from town means you also have to spend three days walking back before the new week just to check whether a random paralogue started, because the game won't tell you. Meanwhile, if no paralogue spawned? You entered town, Autosave. You just lost three days of resources. 5. Important Characters Are Locked Behind Hidden Requirements. As I said, there are way too many hidden things for no reason. Didn't unlock Sha Lan in your first four playthroughs? Fine, I'll play one more time as Cai. 10 hours later:"Oh, you can't recruit Sha Lan in Cai's route."Why the hell not?Game: no reason. So now I have to Google the reason that the game itself should have informed me about 6. Supporting Cast Tied to High Renown and Heavy Investment Supporting characters are usually locked behind high Renown requirements, meaning you often don't get them until near the end of the arc.I wanted to unlock Seteth and see why he's even in this game. Game: "Okay, get 8 Renown and Bond Level 3."So how do I learn more about him?I now have to recruit more characters with 8 Renown and Bond Level 3. Then I have to bond those two units together just to see support topics that explain almost nothing. This is an enormous amount of investment for a character I probably won't even use because his stats are bad due to late recruitment. So now I've spent all this time simping over Seteth until Bond Level 3. Then I have to do the same thing for his limited support events. And guess what? The game ends when you properly get 1 of his supports to A rank. Now pick up where you left off in a new route. Now I'm playing Leda."Oh, you can't unlock Seteth in this route."-_- BRUH!!!!!! So now I've spent three playthroughs simping over Seteth and learned almost nothing. Now I'm interested in Jester. Guess what? Needs 10 Renown, a level 3 bond requirement, and a 3-chain sidequest chain needed to recruit him. 7. Bird Time Is Pointless: Hours of repetitive bonding. Your reward? ONE A-rank conversation with no C/B development, no meaningful commitment, and no romance payoff. You can probably squeeze in two or three maxed Bird Time routes per arc, and even that is being generous. If you're trying to Bird Time someone like Seteth, you don't even recruit him until near the end of the arc, so tough luck. 8. Clash. The game has a new Clash battle, which I actually like. It's good for grinding skills and classes, and it's much faster. The problem is that the game also has a "press Start to win" button. So do you want me to play and learn the system or not? My friends play this game and don't even know how Clash works because they just press Start to win. After about 10–15 turns, the game pauses and gives you a message saying:"This Clash has been going on for a while. Do you want to surrender and try new equipment? NO! I'm trying to go AFK while my team auto-attacks for 0 damage so I can max out my weapon! If I knew I was going to lose, I would have quit on my own. If I was doing 1 damage while taking 0, then I was going to win eventually. Don't pause my autobattle and give me a message asking if I'm struggling. 9. It's the sloppiest game I have ever played; too many hidden rules and mechanics that contradict each other.

This game is simply a step backward in history. Its tactical gameplay is less enjoyable than Engage's, the story is average and not as good as Three Houses, and it completely turns the player-created avatar character, who had a certain presence since Awakening, into a camera. Yet during marketing it was called the true protagonist and placed at the center. I do not recommend this game to any JRPG fan who loves immersing themselves in the protagonist. When you see how perfunctory your avatar's paired ending is, and then look at how fulfilling the paired endings of the four lords are, I believe no one would enjoy such a disparity. In terms of SRPG gameplay, its tactical depth is also far from enough—it is completely just a contest of numbers. Under its so-called ultra-long playtime, the content contained within is simply a combination of a series of dregs.

So far the game is very addicting. I would say one awesome improvement over three houses is the fact you can do other character paths without having to redo everything. I’m currently on my 3rd character path and I love seeing each character’s story and how it interacts with other characters and affects the overall story. Each character in the game feels unique and has their own gameplay styles. Even after 70 hours I’m still having a lot of fun with it. I love being able to choose which class each character will be allowing for a lot of creativity. The combat is great as usual and each fight makes you think about which units you want to use as some classes are more effective depending on who you are fighting. If you love the fire emblem series or are newer to the series and like strategy games I strongly recommend it.

Actual score: 9.5, but 9.0 would be too harsh for why it's not perfect. I can see why people are rating it lower than 9.0. This is somewhat of a niche rpg in that there is more extra tedious resource (time) management. There's a time/calendar system, and many people don't like to be restricted to deadlines between quests and I completely get it. The cast of characters is huge, and before you dive in, there's a sense of FOMO if you think about what you might be missing out on (example, spending your time exploring a different side of the map instead of another before your chapter deadline). Now to why I don't think this game deserves a perfect score: there is only ONE save file, and it autosaves. Now, you COULD restart the entire chapter if you screwed something up catastrophically; however, just imagine grinding out to the end of the chapter to make a stupid mistsake that you want to redo. That could throw away hours of work. You can chalk that up to skill issue; however, part of a large RPG like this involves a lot of trial-and-error to learn certain things. Without multiple save files, it cripples you pretty badly if you make a bad risk. Here's another counter-point against low ratings: this game is SO large, you could spend easily 30+ hours on EACH path in part 1. With so many reviews that came out during the early release of this game, I highly doubt people spent the time to play through the different paths. If you're looking for a hefty beefcake of an SRPG, just forget about the reviews and go for it.

So I played through the intro, picked Dietrich, reached the main city and now I'm running around on the map beating random beasts in featureless open fields. Now I'm starting to wonder: "Is that it...?"• So far, the approach in combat is always the same: 1. Walk into enemy space in a way that only 1 or 2 will attack me back during enemy phase and kill enemy either in one hit (Dietrich) or soften them up with a ranged attack before killing them in one hit (everyone else). 2. Use Vulnerary/heal as needed. 3. Repeat until the scenario ends...• In dungeons, I spam the same link attack, run through linear corridors and smash crystals - until the dungeon just kinda ends...• In town, I can't choose who to recruit, because the characters are all renown and gift-item-gated - so I end up recruiting whatever random people the game allows me to. Some have a quirk that sets them apart, but most are just indistinguishable from the rest, with something like "+10 to hit" as their only differentiator - so even if I had free choice who the recruit, it seems like it would barely matter.I gotta say, so far, the game is not scratchnig my "strategy game" itch - and it strangely seems like it isn't trying to either. There is not even a weapon triangle to take into account, so my choice of which unit I use to attack which enemy is usually **** older Fire Emblem games, you'd:• Use bridges, woods and forts strategically (the map actually mattered in a big way!)• Figure out how to reach a house on the other end of the battle map as a side-objective to get an awesome reward.• Make meaningful choices on unit upgrades and manage weapon durability.• Mange the XP gain of your units CONSTANTLY - trying to give XP to your best scaling units while trying to use your "Jagens" sparingly.• Look at the battle map and actually strategize - splitting up your units purposefully, using thiefs to open doors, using casters to teleport other crucial units to where they need to be, using flying units to cover impassable terrain, **** all of that just kinda gone in favor of a more casual/simplistic gameplay-loop?Is running along corridors and watching units auto-battle in barren fields just how the game is designed to be?In previous games of the seriies, I'd often stare at the map, pondering how to solve a situation, how to get that bonus objective without dying, or how to get the maximum XP for my "villager"-type unit out of an encounter. With Fortune's Weave, I've never had a moment like that before - even after playing for ~6-8 hours!Basically, what I'd like to know is this:• Is the game just holding your hand at the start - and later on you get to make actually meaningful decisions?• Or is the game just going for a very different kind of gameplay experience than previous titles - and what I've seen so far is just all there is?

Möchtest du die „Open World“ erkunden?

I really wanted to like this more. I loved Three Houses despite its slower moments, but with Fortune’s Weave, I felt like I had seen enough after 20 hours. The game throws a lot of systems at you, free time, gifts, fetch quests, farming, board-game-style map progression, dungeons, combat, but almost none of them feel deep or rewarding. The free-time sections are the biggest problem for me. Running around buying gifts for random characters and checking off errands feels like busywork, and the strategic map layer is painfully slow. Combat hasn’t helped much either. So far it has been extremely easy, slow, and rarely interesting enough to justify all the preparation surrounding it. The “dungeons” haven’t been particularly fun to explore, and I haven’t encountered anything that made me rethink my strategy or feel challenged. There are things I like. The production values are strong, the characters are likable enough, and there’s clearly a huge amount of content here. I can understand why people who love life-sim systems and constant side activities are enjoying it. But for me, it’s the definition of a mile wide and an inch deep. There’s always something to do, but very little I actually want to do.

So you came for a Fire Emblem game, where you fight battles, recruit soldiers and enjoy the story. yeah this isn't that game. Go buy 3 houses at least that hits the mark. First feel free to enjoy 7 hours of tripe before the game actually starts. It spoon feeds you in such a way you still have no idea of the menus. doesn't tell you about fast tracking quest givers and forces you to learn by playing. None of the tutorials it proves gives you any new information. It's like teaching a baby how to breathe. It's gawdamn awful. that'll save you an hour play time by the way. (skip the fight tutorial at the start, save you another 10 mins of nonsense). So by the time you're on hour 8, the game actually starts by this point you'll release the character you created is useless and may never be used again. Apparently can appear under 2 circumstances. wow. that was useful. you've picked a character to play and have managed to have an hour worse of tripe anime cutscenes and you don't want anymore. You've been introduced and done like 5 dungeons and none of them are fun, or were needed. you've also maybe recruited one more person, and can almost feel the game starting. you've realised the actual indicators on the map such as enemies, quests, merchants etc are all randomised each time you leave the city. this is why the quests are non specific **** that are only there to provide renown. NO other purpose. they serve 0 story information and are utterly useless ... they like the dungeon nonsense to simply pad the game or you'd be done in less time than a weekend. And be sorely disappointed. this is the worst fire emblems game, there's 4 games in one, except you do the same **** but just different filler cutscenes which to be fair just pick an anime and watch that instead. you'd be better compensated for your troubles. don't pick one piece you'll be there for 6 months and have a good time. this game does not want to do that. stop with the time machine ****. it's done. be original... come on nintendo you can do it. ign gave this a 10. i wish i was on the drugs they were. the menus and ui once you get used to them can be good, but to start with they are about as intuitive as trying to get yourself off by using your eyeballs.

The story for this FE entry this time is good but whats make it bad is the autosave feature and that you don't have the option to turn it off and only have one save slot. Make the experimentation and exploration alot more tedious. Who cares about savescumming in single player game and the reasoning they gave is not solid and kinda lazy.

The game balance on hard mode is absolute perfection. The game loop overall is the most engaging and fun I have ever experienced in a videogame short of Breath of the Wild. The quality of life features are excellent and completely remove the need for wikis for maybe the first time in strategy RPG history. If you're going to play any Fire Emblem game, play this one. If you're going to play any Switch 2 game... play Splatoon Raiders, and THEN play Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave. 10/10

For the non-Fire Emblem fan, I'd put this game around average. Most people will rightfully bounce off the tedious systems bloating the runtime in between battles. For Fire Emblem fans, honestly I can see many ranking it lower. Supports are some of the weakest in the modern entries, not to mention there are very few. Combat and map design starts off ok, but slowly turns into the slog of 3Houses with big, boring maps. And again, the tedium between battles. Worse than the Monastery, Sominel, you name it. Lastly, I'll point out something most reviews aren't touching (because people haven't actually played enough to see it yet). This game is unfinished. They originally had 8 routes planned, but cut it down to 4. The problem is they didn't cleanly remove things both narratively and gameplay wise. Characters that were meant to be on these cut routes are clumsily stapled to a quite frankly broken recruitment process (no literally, people have found recruitment stats are not being calculated correctly). What's funny is in Part 3, it feels like the game actually settles down and everything finally clicks together. The downside is for your average player that is going to be 100+ hours before you get there, with 70% of that being bloat.
