Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is an ambitious entry for the series, and it delivers a memorable experience that's hard to put down. Between the expansive Flame Lord campaigns, which feed into the Pale Raven campaign, there is a lot of story content to parse through. Many of the characters you meet are worth recruiting, and getting to know them over a meal is one of the better moments outside of training with them at the colosseum. What Nintendo has done with the latest Fire Emblem is nothing short of marvellous.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is another slam-dunk for the Nintendo Switch 2. A bona fide evolution of what came before it, combining the best elements of its recent entries with spectacular results. Perhaps most impressive, is just how well paced this enormous adventure is despite its lengthy runtime.

With Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Intelligent Systems delivers a massive epic for the Switch 2 and one of the meatiest entries in the series. The developer doesn’t shy away from going places with the story! It tries things when it comes to mechanics for the different lords’ stories and abilities.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is the most ambitious game in the series to date, and it executes that ambition with almost effortless elegance. It’s tremendously well-written, very cleverly designed, and one of the most engaging and enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had on a Nintendo console.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is an essential game for fans of Fire Emblem and SRPGs, and if you’re new to the series or genre, there’s no better place to get started. The stories of Dietrich, Theodora, Cai, and Leda are all brilliant, worthy of their own Fire Emblem game, and the fact that we get them all in one is just a bonus. It’s still early days, but I’m confident that Fortune’s Weave will be considered one of the best RPGs in the Switch 2’s library even a decade from now.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is a massively intelligent experience, with deep and rich themes, characters, and gameplay systems. In the same month that Wolverine came out, it is nice to see that one of the three big console manufacturers/publishers still respects the player’s intelligence and is out there trying to do more than endlessly iterate on the same “best practice” game-development-by-numbers slop.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave builds upon its strategic arts in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. It’s never satisfied to make me grow only as a battlefield tactician, or only in my ability to manage my time between skirmishes wisely, but both in perfect harmony. Every time I turned around, I was being given more challenges to face and more tools to master in order to overcome them. The many unique twists of each hero’s story path had me eager to see all the ways those journeys differed from each other, making the grand culmination in the final act hit so damn well. Planning out my expeditions across an imposing map became an unexpected highlight that not only hooked me, but rewarded my persistence by continuing to expand all the ways I could direct my armies as I tried to stay on top of newly emerging threats. The scope of both its formidably challenging battles and intricate management systems would be wildly ambitious for one path, let alone spread across four – yet somehow Fortune’s Weave only gets better and better each time you guide its captivating heroes into the colosseum and far beyond.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Fortune’s Weave feels like four games in one, such is the scale on show. It might too much for some, but those who fall for it will live and breathe it for a long, long time because this is about as good as it gets for tactics fans.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is a masterful tactical RPG that beautifully combines an engrossing multi-path narrative, addictive turn-based combat, and enjoyable exploration. Dungeon sections help maintain excellent pacing throughout, and the sheer scale of the world means you can easily sink hundreds of hours into this experience without seeing everything. Pair that with solid visuals, a great cast of characters, and an amazing soundtrack, and you’re looking at one of the best Nintendo Switch 2 games released thus far.

Some minor presentational blemishes and slight imbalance to the Overblaze system are about the only drawbacks present in an otherwise exceptional new entry of Fire Emblem which marries the traditional and the modern together to a level of success not reached in other recent franchise entries.
