Basically, if you’ve ever played any 2D platformer at any point in your life, you’ll know exactly what to expect from Fin and the Ancient Mystery. As I said, you could do a lot worse than this one, but given the sheer number of alternatives on the Switch alone, there’s really no reason why you’d want to pick this one specifically.

As much as I wanted to enjoy Fin and the Ancient Mystery, I just couldn’t. Although its price point is pretty good, it’s hard to recommend it when there are so many other platformers on the Switch that offer much more enjoyment.

Fin and the Ancient Mystery will keep you playing for hours trying to get 100% on all levels. Honestly, this game was a lot of fun to review, it had a decent story and fun puzzles. For the price, it’s a no brainer to pick up and not regret.

Attractive visuals and level variety could not quite make up for the technical difficulties present in Fin and the Ancient Mystery. However, given the approachable price point and mild replayability, this game might be worth a quick playthrough for fans of platforming games, assuming depth is not part of your gaming pursuits.

If the developers tightened up Fin and the Ancient Mystery's gameplay, it could be a rather enjoyable 2D action RPG.
