Through an unusual mix of roguelike and battle royale, Elden Ring: Nightreign will make you love soulslike games in a different way.
It's fun, unexpected, and challenging. Everything you'd want from a title like this. Even if it doesn't look and feel exactly like we initially imagined.
An intriguing experiment—perfect for multiplayer fans who don’t shy away from a tough challenge. But whether the Souls niche was really craving this? We’re not so sure.

Elden Ring/Erdtree is my favorite game ever, but this 20min round, running at lightning speed, multiplayer boss challenge mode is awful. My love of the universe makes me want to keep revisiting this hoping it gets better, but honestly this game is garbage. This is the first FROM SOFTWARE game I didn’t think was amazing and it’s terrible. I can’t figure out who this is for or what it’s suppose to be but it’s not fun at all. I hope they stop this nonsense and remember what made them both respected and commercially successful in the first place.

Uma mistura divertida de rogue like e soulslike, batalhas insanas contra chefes e ação desenfreada, acho que o único defeito desse jogo é a pouca variação de inimigos e chefes e mapas

if only there was voice chat or a normal chat box this game would have been much better.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a bold and surprisingly successful evolution of the Elden Ring we know. With this co-op spin-off, FromSoftware proves that the world of Elden Ring also thrives in a more social setting, without compromising on challenge or atmosphere. In fact, the presentation during certain boss fights might even surpass the original, precisely because so much attention has been paid to it. The addition of teamplay, roguelite elements, and nostalgic bosses from earlier titles results in a game that feels both familiar and refreshing.

All of this results in an experience that will appeal to those who know Elden Ring by heart and are masters of its combat system. However, if you don't fall into that group, Elden Ring Nightreign likely isn't for you. At the end of the day, FromSoftware presents us with a unique experiment that makes it clear that its 2022 title has the potential to expand almost anywhere, though that doesn't mean it should.

Elden Ring Nightreign is another glorious gem from FromSoftware. It is a different flavor of Elden Ring and requires more effort due to limited time for each in-game expedition. It is worth mentioning that this is not a Rouge-like or even Rouge-lite. It is a cooperative action roleplaying game with randomization elements.

This game is incredibly underrated and a whole lot of fun. I had my doubts before its release, but after playing it, I realized how unjustified they were. The 8 Nightfares (characters) are sick, especially Wylder, Ironeye and Raider for me. All of them suit a different playstyle and have unique skills that are fun to use. The regular Limveld map looks somewhat like a copy, but it also contains enough new elements. The Shifting Earth maps are the highlight for me. They offer much new content (especially Noklateo), they are useful in terms of loot and really fun to explore. Occasionally, events happen during an expedition such as boss invasions - in total they are well made. Unlike in normal Elden Ring, legendary weapons are actually stronger than non-legendary weapons, as they all possess cool and unique extras (e.g. enhanced charged heavy attack) and they have the best stats. - gameplay is fast, action-loaded and feels great - both playing solo and in a team is perfectly viable - character stories are decent - the Relics system is ok - some talismans, (ranged!) weapons or passive buffs that you find completely ****, but it's a roguelike - respawn points make no sense sometimes and it can make you very mad - some important numbers are not displayed (e.g. Relic stats numbers, current Damage Negation, passive weapon buffs numbers) and it doesn't say if certain buffs stack with each other - kinda crazy in a competitive game like this where basically every decision matters - there should be a proper results screen where you see the damage dealt, deaths, rescues and so on for each player (at least for the Nightlord fight) - the game doesn't tell you which buffs stack with each other or if they even work on that character Bosses: > field bosses: Most of them are these no-name bosses from Elden Ring that can easily be copied without interfering with Elden Rings lore so it can get repetitive after tens of hours. Some of them are fun to fight even after 200h for me (- e.g. Darth Vader aka. Bell Bearing Hunter, Godskins, Hippo, Tree Avatar, Tree Sentinel, Magma Wyrm) and some are just these annoying / hard to hit / constantly running away trash bosses (- e.g. Revenant, Nights Cavalry, Red Wolf, Black Knife Assassin, Ancestor Spirit, ..). > end of day bosses: Similiar for them but with additions from older FromSoftware games bosses. - Good examples - Nameless King, Dancer, Fell Omen (with new moves), Grafted Monarch (with new moves), Gaping Dragon - Bad examples - Freja, Nights Cavalry Duo, Wormface, Tibia Mariner, Revenant. > Nightlords: The good stuff. 8 entirely new bosses with sick visuals, sick soundtracks, sick soundeffects and sick arenas. - Peak: Heolstor, Libra, Fulghor - Good: Caligo, Gladius, Adel - Mid: Gnoster, Maris > Everdark versions: Starting with phase 2 and adding a new phase 3. - Peak: Fulghor, Adel, Gladius, Caligo - Mid: Maris, Libra, Gnoster My first Night Aspect expedition (Heolstor) at midnight was probably one my best moments I've had playing a video game. First time exploring and clearing Noklateo, first time encountering Nameless King in this game and first time fighting Heolstor - seeing him literally opening the sky in his phase transition & cooking me with his phase 2 attacks. HOLY PEAK! Very memorable. Also, Darth Vader in the castles basement literally getting hit by a fully charged Wylder ult and continues casually walking towards you with red eyes. Bro might have aura. Deep of Night:First off, this was a free update just like the Everdark Sovereign updates. Still, this has major flaws and caused many people to hate on this game and leaving bad reviews. I think it's cool to have a fully randomized ranked mode to express skill levels and being able to exclusively get matched with players on your skill level. BUT at Depth 5 (highest difficulty) you literally get one shot by everything - sometimes even with Damage Negation stacked up. In trio this isn't the biggest problem (this gamemode is pretty well balanced for trio) but in solo this gamemode is morally wrong bruh. Besides that, when I played to 9999 Points (maximum) I lost 2 games out of around 20 - I lost 600 points for each loss whereas I only got 200 Points for each win. This is extremely demotivating. I genuinly was about to quit despite having an insane win streak before the loss. Also, this gamemode killed my old main Raider. Now with everything done in this game (beating every possible boss; completing every Nightfarers Remembrance quest; buying everything that can be bought; encountering every event or invasion / claiming every power at least once; reaching Depth 5 and 9999 Points; clearing the entire DLC with all it's content), I'll probably stop playing for now. Hopefully the DLC wasn't the last thing they will ever add to this game. All in all it's a peak game that I had a lot of fun spending many hours in.

Elden Ring Nightreign won't be every FromSoft fan's cup of tea, and this is especially true if you're a lone wolf.

Elden Ring Nightreign represents a bold attempt to evolve the Elden Ring universe through a cooperative and dynamic format. The streamlined progression and reduced exploratory freedom may not satisfy series purists, while the introduction of roguelike and battle royale elements does not fit perfectly with FromSoftware's design philosophy. Ultimately, Nightreign may attract a new audience, but for longtime fans of the series, the balance between innovation and faithfulness to the spirit of Elden Ring will prove to be less than optimal.

Elden Ring Nightreign has a lot of good ideas on its side, a lot of quality, and I'm sure it will blossom during the coming months; however, at the moment the ratio of fun to frustration seems a bit problematic.

Critical Hits
The very core idea behind the conception of Elden Ring: Night Reign is flawed; loop-based games like roguelikes completely break the magic of FromSoftware's formula. It feels like a bundle of mods that quickly loses its charm due to repetitiveness—and that's if you're playing with someone who knows what they're doing; if not, the experience gets much worse.

Absolute masterpiece ****. Sure there are some things that could be improved, but all in all, it is just such a fun and well made game. I wish that From Software would continue to make content for this game and support for many more years to come. It is worth it!

Communication issues and not a lot RNG with the map generation but still enjoyable, bosses are fun.

Fun game, if you have a group of friends that Love a rogue-like and fromsoftware then Id highly recommend. If you are playing alone with people online be ready for some issues that come with it. I appreciate fromsoftware vision and trying something new. This was not for me though.

I loved Elden Ring and played the game to completion including its dlc. Yes I beat the final boss of the DLC. Great fight I enjoyed it. 300 plus hours in Elden Ring however this game is completely different. Your equipment and level are temporary and do not translate between runs. The rain timer is short and the rain ring closes you in superfast. Forcing having a good team and memorizing the fastest way to get the items that you want and the levels that you need exploration is non existent. There is too big a difference between level 8 and 9. If you are level 8 at the first boss you won't succeed and you just wasted 30-50 minutes that you can never get back. Great fight mechanics, the jumping and no fall damage makes moving across the map feel effortless. The rest of the game falls completely short. Stressful, lots of pressure lots of work to get to the 1st boss only to lose and have to re-due the last 50 minutes of game play. Games like Returnal and Hades do this right. Night Reign does not. Items and or weapons need to be kept between the rounds. They need to add a single player mode with an adjustable rain timer. Items and or weapons need to be kept between the rounds. I do not recommend.

SummaryThe world of ELDEN RING is getting a standalone multiplayer co-op action survival game that challenges players to band together in order to defeat the Nightlord. Teaming up in squads of three - or daring to go solo - they must outlast a three day-and-night cycle, making split decisions about combat and exploration across changing maps... Read More
