With new modes and features aiming to better onboard players, as well as an improved Career mode and upgrades to the core combat experience, EA Sports UFC 6 is the most entertaining and authentic representation of the sport yet. The new museum-like Hall of Legends is a great addition, too.

Finger Guns
UFC 6 is, to date, the most complete mixed martial art gaming experience available. Visual pleasing, with enough content to keep players going for many rounds. New accessible play options are a massive bonus, and whilst it does suffer from "EA bloat", it's not so overwhelming as to ruin the experience.

The Games Machine
EA Sports UFC 6 refines an already strong formula, offering more spectacular and believable fights thanks to a striking system that effectively delivers the full power of punches, kicks, and elbows. The ground-fighting sequences are also very well done, featuring depth and technicality, while the Career mode accurately represents the dual life of the modern fighter, torn between training and the pursuit of fame. Less convincing is the Flow bar, which introduces an arcade element that doesn’t quite fit with the game’s simulation-oriented spirit, along with some inaccuracies in the slow-motion highlights. It doesn’t revolutionize the series, but it improves it in almost every aspect, confirming its status as the best UFC game from EA Sports.

UFC 6 definitely feels like championship material, though it's a few notches below an all-time great.

EA Sports UFC 6 delivers an authentic and highly entertaining MMA experience. Its deep combat system rewards skill and strategy, while new accessibility options help newcomers find their footing. Although the career mode remains somewhat repetitive and veterans may miss bigger innovations, UFC 6 successfully captures the intensity and spectacle of the sport.

UFC 6 from EA Sports is a fun improvement on many levels from previous releases in the series. It’s easier to get into, exciting to play, and offers enough modes to make this a long-term experience.

EA Sports UFC 6 puts the franchise back on track, offering great gameplay and a good range of modes for fans of the sport. The only downside would be a revamp of the ground fighting, making submissions more dynamic and precise instead of just pushing the analog stick back and forth. The vast roster is also a great draw for old-school fans, although some older fighters aren't 100% faithful to their physique. However, the graphical precision and fluidity of the strikes compensate for this flaw, creating a feeling almost like watching a major event.

If you have always dreamed of stepping into the Octagon, this new installment is the perfect entry point. The attention paid to differentiating each athlete's stance, the palpable weight of every strike, and the cumulative wear and tear that dictates match strategy raise the intellectual bar of the fight, elevating the striking mechanics to a level the series has never reached before. However, the experience is held back by stiff ground fighting and a submission system that still fails to convince—preventing the title from achieving true simulation status—while the "Flow State" mechanic highlights the difficulty of balancing spectacle with simulation rigor. Yet, the game's most interesting legacy lies elsewhere. Thanks to the Hall of Legends, the sports game transcends mere abstract simulation, becoming a tool to explore and celebrate the psychology and origins of the champions. UFC 6 may not be the definitive MMA simulation—and there is certainly room for improvement in certain areas—but it is the best entry to date, and the first to genuinely attempt a compelling portrayal of the man behind the fighter.

After three year development work, one could expect even greater strides forward, but EA Sports UFC 6 still leaves a good aftertaste for fans of the sport and also for those who generally like high-quality fighting games.
