It's short but packs in a lot of plot twists, fully voiced cut scenes and a number of conversations, as well as experience gain, room to level up, and the opportunity to customize your party to a degree. It's nothing revolutionary, but a solid addition to the ever expanding stable of adventures in BioWare's Dragon Age.
If you loved Leliana you will love this and the price will be the only thing to make you pause for consideration before hitting the 'buy' button. For anyone else it is a far from essential addition to DA:O.
Leliana's Song is an admirable addition to the Dragon Age: Origins storyline, but with only three hours of content there really is nothing here to write home about. Fans of the game that are looking to gain some back-story on one of the game's main characters should definitely check it out as it offers insight to some of the dialogue and story segments mentioned during Origins.

Every story has a spark, and Leliana’s Song feels like the moment where a flame finally catches. Leliana’s Song is a compact yet engaging adventure that shines because it understands exactly what it wants to be. Instead of trying to outdo the scale of Origins, it chooses to focus on character, emotion and the messy decisions that shape one of the series’ most beloved companions. The result is a DLC that feels intimate in the best way, giving you a chance to step into Leliana’s past and see the events that molded her into the bard, spy and eventual hero fans already knew.Again, yes, playing it in 2025 makes many things feel extremely dated, old. Nostalgia can’t really be used as a crutch for too long, yet at the same time, playing it doesn’t feel like a burden. What stood out is how confidently the story moves. The pacing is tight, the tension builds naturally and the twists never overstay their welcome. Even though the campaign is short, it manages to feel complete, like a well written novella that respects your time and still leaves an impact. The writing captures that mix of charm and danger that defines Leliana, and the dialogue balances lighter moments with the sharp edge of betrayal and ambition. Combat and exploration follow the familiar rhythm of Origins, which makes the experience feel comfortable, almost nostalgic, but the focus on a smaller cast gives battles a personal weight. You are not just pushing through encounters, you are watching how Leliana’s choices pull her team together or push them apart. The stakes may be smaller than a kingdom falling to darkness, but they feel meaningful because they are hers. Visually and tonally, the DLC keeps the identity of Ferelden intact, and even though it does not introduce huge new systems or areas, it delivers enough variety to keep the journey interesting. The music, in particular, adds a bittersweet layer that complements Leliana’s arc, giving key scenes an emotional punch. Leliana’s Song is not the kind of DLC that tries to redefine the game, and honestly, it does not need to. It works because it offers clarity, personality and heart, showing you the pivotal moments that shaped a character many players grew attached to. If you enjoy Dragon Age for its storytelling and its flawed, fascinating heroes, this chapter is well worth experiencing.

This DLC provides a decent exploration into the past of one of Origin's most beloved characters. Though, like most of Origin's add-on content, this DLC feels largely forgettable and irrelevant, from having bland characters, to a boring narrative, and such a short experience that it would have been more efficient to read the synopsis on the game's Wiki.

While the content is very short, it is also a very enjoyable experience overall. The game itself does a great job of telling Leliana's backstory, featuring fully voiced cutscenes throughout Leliana's Song.

In the end, Leliana's Song is too short and adds nothing in terms of gameplay. If you want more gameplay, more spells and raised caps then there are other expansions, modules and campaigns out there at a higher price. However, I did enjoy Leliana's Song.

This won't win any new converts to the Dragon Age cause, but fans of the series will be more than happy with this latest DLC. [Issue#195, p.102]

In two hours of gameplay, you'll fight a few old and new creatures, but you won't find the compelling content BioWare has become known for. Ultimately, the DLC to Dragon Age: Origins comes down to two more hours of battles playing under the role of a bard.

SummaryA standalone adventure in which you play as Leliana during the mission--and betrayal--that changed her forever. It is years before the Blight, and Leliana is a young bard whose curiosities run more to passion than to the Chant of Light. Her mentor, Marjolaine, is determined to inflict the Orlesian game of intrigue on Ferelden. It is a ti... Read More
