Xbox Nation Magazine
Gross-out style low brow comedy is all it can bank on when you take all of this game's design flaws into consideration. [Winter 2002, p.107]
It is fresh, new, and puts an unusual twist on the ordinary.

Muto has sly humor, difficult challenges, and some fantastic gameplay elements and comes out as the second best platformer on Xbox.

This game was a lot of fun in memory and a childhood niche title that went completely forgotten by me until somebody brought up the premise of the similarly styled gameplay loop of platformer transformation game “Scaler”. It’s a very jank and archaic feeling platformer as a lot of 3D platformers turned out to be early in this era of 3D gaming. If you want a remarkable transformation gimmick platformer just go play Kameo: Elements of Power instead.

When i played this game as a ten year old, i had some fun, but was ultimately disappointed by how frustrating was. Most of my problems was the camera. it was controllable but never where i wanted. many of my deaths was caused by me not being able to see platforms. that is my basic complaint. i rage quit a few times and it looked a bit muddy but i was 10 and the style of the world makes the muddy environments excusable. i enjoyed the humor and the entire things being so campy. could be a 7 if the camera was fixed.

An innovative game that brings fresh air to genre.

A pleasant surprise. The characters are amusing and a little different, the game is smoothly produced, and while it's somewhat derivative, it's still a lot of fun.

TotalGames.net
An excellent sense of humour that manages to make the older gamer chuckle without offending the kiddies.

Gaming Age
By not providing more details on where to find the items needed to progress fully, however, it just becomes an exercise in frustration and drags down what could have been an above-average title.

It seems as if those at Midway decided that the “hook” they would use in the game would be the good Doctor’s ability to change into various inane things, such as a spider or squirrel. The whole game in fact is based around this concept, and it is easily one of the most contrived, useless gimmicks I have seen in a game to date.
