Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

Diablo II: Resurrection is outdated return of the legend, but it brings such a perfect atmosphere and such a wonderful audiovisual processing, that serie fans will be excited.

Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]

Banned my account for no reason…. I was playing normally having a little bit of fun and then they stole my money

They changed the character creation online to automatically keep ladder selected as off, which caused me to waste tons of time as i was not aware i was not playing on the ladder online until very late game. another common over site from blizzard, amongst other unfixed bugs and glitches/oversights in the game. if you want to play diablo 2 for old time's sake, just save yourself some time and go play Project diablo 2, or go play POE, Last Epoch, or any of the other competitors. The orignal game devs are gone, and this game and company are trash

Tried to buy resurrect + LoD, but got weird **** behaviours and bugs not allowing me to buy it individually while not communicating that it cannout be bought. Okay, I've realised that blizz did another cash grab and that I need to buy warlock expansion. Fine. Bought it, downloaded painfully slow on mobile internet as thats my access. And then it didnt' started. Given, my machine is quite powerfull, significantly above requirements. Got newest drivers, tried parameters in command line, repair, public realm and other tricks to no help. I've been naive enough to think that after Warcraft Reforged flop they have learned. Nope, they have not.

Even without the nostalgia creeping in, one can plainly see that this is a game for the ages. Cross-play would make this the perfect release for me, but even as is, I love this game.

Diablo II: Resurrected shows why the original title remains the standard against which all other ARPGs are judged. While it doesn’t come with many hooks and ever-evolving content that has become a baseline for the genre as it transformed into a game-as-service model, not all games need to be played with forever in mind. Diablo II: Resurrected proves that Blizzard’s classic is still a blast, even today. Whether it’s your first foray into hell and beyond or your thousandth hour, Diablo II: Resurrected is worth the time.

The game is essentially Diablo 2 just updated to work on newer PCs and improved graphics etc.
I am surprised by some ratings and super thankful that Blizzard didn't ruin this game with "modernizing" it, it's just a remaster, otherwise this game would be ruined as well as they did with everything they touched. There's Diablo 3 and 4 for a reason for people that want more consolized / simplified / arcadeish games.
This is not perfect, but to be honest in today's world when companies sink hundreds of millions to make totally crap games I'm thankful for D2 to exist and continue to run on our PCs. We have less and less games with identity and more generic garbage that looks and plays all the same, with the same graphical effects and art style.

Diablo II: Resurrected delivers on the promise of a rebuilt original, without tampering with the soul of what made it amazing in the first place. With completely remastered graphics, all-new cutscenes, and console cross-progression, Diablo II: Resurrected takes us back to Hell, and it’s every bit as amazing as it was when we played it 20 years ago.

Diablo 2 is back in a Resurrected version and could appeal to purists as well as young people eager for challenges: The plastic has been completely revised, everything has been modeled again, and is now very flattering for the retina. The atmosphere of the game is as crazy as ever even though the storytelling has gotten a little old. The same can be said with the gameplay, which has hardly changed an iota: it's still just as nervous, addicting, devilishly catchy, but at the cost of sometimes outdated ergonomics. Nevertheless, we do not shy away from our pleasure of replaying this legend in conditions much more in line with what is being done in 2021.

At the end of the day, Diablo 2: Resurrected certainly feels like a game that is designed with veteran and nostalgic players in mind and it truly nails the experience in that sense. Whether it’s going to be able to build a new audience with first-time players is a much tougher question, but the old school experience may have more to offer modern gamers than it appears at first glance. Diablo 2: Resurrected fills a very unique spot in the franchise’s offerings by allowing players to continue returning to D3 (and someday Diablo 4 for a modern experience), but also now having a visually modern option when they want a bit more baseline difficulty and a classic experience.

Diablo 2: Resurrected both benefits and suffers from its faithfulness to the original title, but overall provides an adventure full of satisfying gameplay and fun exploration.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is, if anything, a faithful remaster of the original game. The visual overhaul and fantastic cinematics maintain the dark tone of Sanctuary’s horrifying demons and tales. Unfortunately, that alone doesn’t hold up after 20 years of innovation. Annoying gameplay mechanics, constant selling and buying, restrictive controls, regressive character art, and finicky UI poorly date this adventure. More quality of life changes should be here to truly bring the classic back to life. Diablo fans may love this remaster; others will likely not.

I'm not going to change the rating of this game alone, but I don't understand this constant hatred. This game is a remaster of the old one and the objective is a total success: the graphics are absolutely GORGIOUS. Find this legendary game 24 years later, with the original music, and this faithful graphics but completely recreated to perfection. It's just incredible. Blizzard had the good idea to leave the mode offline, with the possibility of playing in TCP/IP via mods, and to use hacks and profile editors like in the good old days. What to complain about? What more do you need? This remaster fulfills its mission to perfection. No server problems encountered on my side. No abusive transaction, no shop, no battlepass for the offline version, it's juste pure bliss...

a top remaster and now a remake.some values and items (rune words) were added as well as areas for endgame looting.what really bothers me is that they focused on speedrunning and not on an expansion or PvP.

My offline mod just got massed up by Battlenet forced update. I will never gonna play with it, after 3000+ hour. The game is great but blizzard is a s.hole.

This is a classic diablo 2 remastered, yes. It has nice graphics and sound but It lacks any innovation and QoL improvments. They could have done so much more than just upgrade the graphics but they really didn't. It sometimes is annoying to play cause the game aged incredibly bad. It's still a classic and worth a while, but there just isnt enough content to please a lot of veterans that instead of this can play an OG one instead.
