Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is a smaller, more intimate expansion compared to the usual Bungie annual release. It contains a smaller story that is more focused on new avenues to explore in the universe, while also featuring some hit/miss gameplay mechanics that work more than they don’t. It’s the right direction for the franchise and a spark of hope that better things are to come from a decade of world-building.

With how much has changed in Destiny, it's hard to see the forest through the trees. Everything I thought I knew, from what was good to what to focus on, has been overhauled. This was initially jarring, but the longer I spend with it, the more I come to like it. Much like the start of a new show, you can tell there is something more; however, you're only left with more questions. While this explanation is small, the universe it opens is vast.

Don't let the haters and low scores fool you! The only way Bungie could have made this expansion even gudder is if they had focused more on Osiris & Saint's love story. It's not FF7 Rebirth level of storytelling & gameplay, but that's a difficult level to achieve. Facts. Edge of Fate is so much gudder than Final Shape, it's almost impressive. I especially like that Bungie made old armor obsolete to force players to spend hours grinding away in an even crappier...I mean "gudder"...system than before. The new armor tiers make sure to let me know who all the Bungie fanboi uber losers are, which I'm super grateful for, because all of their gilded titles, adapted weapons, Guardian ranks and fart huffing weren't enough of an indicator for me to know how bad I am. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to the tedium of touching grass & living my life, because I'm so bad at this game that I make the Witness look like a boi scout asking for extra homework during Sunday school. Gud day.

Building on the saga's excellent conclusion in The Final Shape, Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate serves as both a mediocre epilogue and a promising but uncertain reboot. Ultimately, it's less interesting in its own right, both in terms of narrative and the sloppy use of the few new mechanics introduced.

Destiny 2: Destiny's Edge isn't exactly what fans expected from the debut of what was previously called Frontiers. All the enthusiasm and desire to experiment that emerged when it was announced has unfortunately been lost on this expansion, which introduces weak mechanics and adds very little replayable, albeit valuable, content. We truly hope that fan feedback can somehow help the Seattle team straighten out the situation and catch up with upcoming expansions or, perhaps, with the update coming in September that will introduce a new activity on Earth. In the meantime, we can only say we're minimally satisfied and, above all, concerned about the game's future.

Edge of Fate is a timid start to a new chapter that takes us back to the early days of the game: a few flashes of brilliance for a lot of things that have yet to be worked on.

Writing this review exhausted me. I was hoping a new saga of Destiny 2 might get me excited for what’s next. Instead, I’m tired. The skill to make cool stuff still exists at Bungie, but it’s being catastrophically misused. Design and mechanical changes need to be more thoroughly considered, and the entire player base needs to be brought along for the ride. If Bungie leadership is reading this part: please. Give your people the time, space, and freedom to create something incredible. They have the capacity, and they need your support. This franchise can find its footing again, but Bungie needs to get out of its own way to do so.

The Edge of Fate is a desperately disappointing follow up to The Final Shape, offering little to nothing of value to the overall Destiny 2 experience. A forgettable story, lifeless new locations and joyless mechanic additions, this is a sad indictment on Bungie's current place in the industry.

Destiny 2 edge of fate looked pretty boring at the start with the first hours being how to use the mechanics of how to use the new abilities and seems boring but after you learns the basics the game becomes more quick with fun puzzles and a good narrative that really gets ur attention

Hi everyone been playing since D1 and this is my review... the edge of fate is well something.. not perfect that right but not horrible.. story rise for me it's one of the best expansion its well written and keep you interested. But gameplay wise the is nothing left to improve in destiny 2. Bungie need to realize that we need Destiny 3 we need a breath of fresh air gameplay wise and I really hope in my heart that with the conclusion of the fate saga we will see destiny 3 because destiny 2 is slowly dying because of himself..

Lore and narrative cooked, gameplay AT THE START was matterspark-forced repetitiveness and thats what turned most people away. The end of the campaign is great and matterspark becomes a lot more bearable when given access to the 3rd upgrade Theres no point in acting like D2 is in a good place, especially considering the launch was riddled by a thousand bugs and not much seemed to be tested at all, like the raid Should have been $30 IMO but hey Solstice is a W

Destiny 2 is my favorite game of all Time but the lackof passion from the studio is making it hard on me to recommend the game to new players or excpect my clanmates to return. an expansion worth 40 $ with 0 new content beside the meh ! campaign and the raid comparing ro what we used to get which was also not much is crazy. we used to get more than this for 40$ and it wasnt enough . Its obvious the studio does not respect the community and rely on nostolgia baits. at this point I wish sony takes over eventhough Im not sure if thats gonna change anything. Thats not the bungie we knew that made Halo or even taken king with all its flaws.
