Control Resonant is the portrait of a bolder studio. Remedy is never scared of taking risks, and that shows through many ways in this game. Bizarre, inventive and extremely fun to play, Control Resonant will probably be running for all the prizes it can by the end of the year.

Control Resonant gambles on a new genre and it pays off. A stellar cast and some of the strongest art direction you'll find in a game this year make for a sequel that builds on the promise of the original, and delivers even more special moments. Make time for Control Resonant this year. You won't regret it.

With its incredibly fun traversal mechanics and edge-of-your-seat action gameplay, the end result is one of the most imaginative action RPGs I’ve played in years and Remedy Entertainment’s best work yet.

Control Resonant is a shining example of what a studio like this can do when given time and patience, and it's surprising and entertaining at every single turn. An astounding game.

Control is one of the best action RPGs ever made. The game combines an emotional story and rock-solid world-building with deep, satisfying combat and delightful movement. Add a breathtaking, open-ended world to the mix, and you have an absolute masterpiece that will stay with players for a long time to come.

Control Resonant proves unequivocally that Remedy understands the medium. Somehow, in crafting its most video-game-ass video game to date, it's managed to not just retain but amplify its own, peculiar and fascinating brand of storytelling. This is not only an excellent Control sequel, but a damned good character action game in its own right.

Few studios are capable of so consistently capturing that feeling of the new and awe-inspiring, and perhaps none can match Remedy's mastery of it. Resonant indeed.

Control Resonant takes the series in a different direction without losing Remedy's identity. The new melee combat is excellent and offers countless build possibilities, while the exploration of Manhattan, the secrets, and the side missions expand the universe beautifully, although enemy variety could be much better and some open-world activities are uninspired, but the overall package is excellent, making Control Resonant one of my favorite games of the year.

Control: Resonant proves that Remedy remains one of the most creative studios in the industry. Its combat, progression, and narrative strike a balance with audiovisual elements that make every setting and melody an integral part of the experience. Remedy doesn’t just build a world to explore—it creates one that invites us to pause, observe, and discover a meaning that continues to resonate long after the credits roll, proving that video games can also be art.

Control Resonant is a shockingly massive game but none of it feels like misused space. One might argue that Remedy was at the top of its game with Control in 2019, especially after lukewarm reception to Quantum Break. But it’s with Control Resonant that Remedy feels at its artistic peak. This is a culmination of the developer’s phenomenal body of work over the last few decades. Rather than being a condensed exploration of established themes, Remedy decided to go all out. Few games burn this proudly and confidently across so much real estate. Control Resonant never relinquishes–a brilliant work that is awe-inspiring, thought-provoking, and at the apex of creativity.
