While adding remastered graphics and a modern UI, Remastered Collection avoided dealing with 20-year old shortcomings of the original game, like poor pathfinding for infantry and harvesters, for instance. On the other hand, these flaws will definitely make your missions much more exciting on higher difficulty settings.

Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is a great gift for fans of the genre. Despite a number of problems, we support the initiative and hope that the publisher will decide to re-release the remaining parts of the series.

C&C was difficult not because of good AI or interesting tactical puzzles, but due to poor usability. With modernized interface, it’s a walk in the park, and will be enjoyable only as long as nostalgia lasts. [Issue#247, p.44]

For a long-term fan is a must have. Great value for small price. Waiting for sequel!

I didn't remember it being such a bad game. Probably the worst pathfinding algo, the computer controlled mission critical units simply went to front of turrets. Save/reload 100x. Terrible.

One of the still-standing original C&C games of old that survived the test of time. Glad they still live.

This remaster is a winner. It’s a stellar package, and hopefully a template for what is to come. The minor shortcomings are all due to the age of this title – but this is an old game. You have to take it for what it is – a glorious little piece of history. In presenting that, this is a practically flawless release – but the old-fashioned, less friendly design in places will mean this one isn’t quite for everyone.

Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is an example of how to do things right. In addition to improved graphics and audio, Petroglyph Games has introduced a new control system, many extras, collectibles and game modes.

This is a prime example of what a remaster has to be like. Every aspect of the old games has been improved (without changing the original flair of the game). And even on release it had a fair price tag.

Remastered Collection is a great example of how I would like all remastered version to be made.

By modern standards, the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is far from perfect, but without these games, modern standards wouldn't exist

A great way to experience two of the games that defined real-time strategy in the 90s.

Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is a great makeover of 2 cult games by fans, for fans. You can feel the love of the developers, old and new, as they offer all the vintage experience to modern gamers, with serious comfort gains and many options to adapt it to different player profiles. All this without compromising the vintage gameplay or its difficulty, and with better music than ever before. On the other hand, however, it might discourage many players with its outdated graphics, its peculiar old TV movie humor, its pixelated cinematics and its punishing gameplay.

It's basically a masterpiece, and even better when you use one of various patch-mods to round out the QoL issues. The developers managed to make the game even better than it was. No joke. Now, if you never played C&C, it's not going to impress you. Keep in mind, this is probably the only good thing that came out of 2020.

After playing all the C&C series through the years, I was honestly glad that this got a remaster as it was often a source for a quick skirmish or lan party with friends back in the day and this doesn't disappoint with crisp fresh graphics and an updated soundtrack that was already iconic. Another thing is that this has not only been revamped, its been slightly re-balanced as well with the allies not being so far behind the USSR anymore but still suffers from several key well known multiplayer imbalances such as USSR migs being especially overpowered and Allied cruisers being their overpowered choice. Story wise, both games in single player offer a significantly challenging experience that definitely gets much harder in later missions, which some missions being absolutely disgustingly difficult and notorious to pass, most of the time requiring absolute perfection to pass, whilst other missions requiring just strength of numbers to win, this mission balance has been an issue since the 90s so not going complain about that, AI though is still an issue that hasn't been improved and most notable in skirmish where the AI will often choke up its own base with units. Overall, I got this remaster on a steam sale for $5 and at that price you literally can't go wrong at all.

Overall, Although it is a remaster version, the game is too old to enjoy in 2021. - Remastered game, but no Rally point? Really? - Ai pathfinding is just a mess. Units move around and die easily each time. This is a very annoying experience. - Game missions are too easy or hard; did you enjoy mission of Nod 8? I gave it up, these challenges give someone fun but not me. - Story has nothing interesting. Follow orders. Kill someone. Someone dies... blah blah... provides no knowledge of the background of the game. I would have played hard as a member of Nod's brother if they provided the story, at least in text. - The speed at which resources are depleted on the map is too fast. Give me time to think about strategy, In this remastered version, resources have become very slow to regenerate. WTF? - It's very hard to build a multi-base like StarCraft. However, Harvester, the only hope, is a slow and expensive stupid unit. - AI cheats a lot even in Normal difficulty; I've never seen AI cheat in an AOE series or StarCraft, WarCraft series. At least I never felt that way at a difficulty similar to Normal.

SummaryCommand & Conquer and Red Alert are both remastered in 4K by the former Westwood Studios team members. Includes all 3 expansions, rebuilt multiplayer, a modernized UI, Map Editor, bonus footage gallery, and over 7 hours of remastered music.
