From the levelouted maps to commander mode to the new squad mechanics, Battlefield 4 is a top-to-bottom improved multiplayer experience over Battlefield 3. And Battlefield 3 was damn good, so that’s saying a lot.

Battlefield 4 is visually amazing, with plenty of pretty that is often simultaneously aesthetic and practical, while the DICE sound wizards continue to forge a second-to-none soundscape that complements the eye candy. If you’re a Battlefield fan, this purchase is a given, but even the smaller, faster-paced modes give Call of Duty a run for its money on its FPS formula.

Bigger and better, Battlefield 4 evolves what we saw in Battlefield 3. An experience any fan of the series should try.

Battlefield 4 is a great first person shooter. Although the campaign and it’s story aren’t really memorable, the outstanding multiplayer makes the game nearly perfect.

Battlefield 4 is the latest instalment in the Battlefield series created by Dice and is the first in the series to utilise the Frostbite 3 engine. It is the latest in the stream of modern military shooters.

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

The main draw for the Battlefield series has always been the chaotic camaraderie of its multiplayer, and that's no different here. But the sum of Battlefield 4's parts shows that DICE is capable of more. Not only has the developer iterated on and progressed its marquee multiplayer, it's provided a tight and cohesive campaign that is everything a military shooter needs to be.

The single player campaign of Battlefield 4 is certainly disappointing, but as everyone knows, here it's the multiplayer offering that makes the difference... and again, DICE offers the best multiplayer FPS this year.

Battlefield 4 is a perfect next-gen example. 64 players involved in Levolution, a new gameplay where destruction and catastrophes are protagonists. EA DICE optimally uses the new consoles and powerful PC. Shown by Frostbite 3 and an amphibious war that you've never lived.
