While it certainly lacks in the game mode department and the presentation can be a bit disappointing at times, the games plays great and does a great job of bringing us a good sense of what Arena football is all about.

While the game doesn’t contain all the bells and whistles of its NFL counterparts, the game makes up for it in gameplay.

The passing game is tremendously fun, and that's where the bulk of the action happens. The job of video game QB becomes a lot easier when you don't have to worry about complex coverages in the secondary.

Priced at a frugal $29.99, Arena Football is a fantastic way to cure those post-Super Bowl blues thanks to the numerous spectacular plays you will witness every game. This game is really, really fun.

The tackles in the game—some of which can literally send players flying into the bleachers—are the most vertebrae-jangling hits we've seen this side of a roller derby.

This isn't a game of depth. This is quick football satisfaction and little else. Against a few friends over the weekend, Arena Football is an excellent diversion, but it won't replace "Madden" or even "NFL 2K5" until the weather turns cold again.

This franchise has legs and could be a welcome spring football fix for year’s to come.

Using a tweaked version of EA Tiburon's Madden engine, Arena Football at the very least manages to nail down many of the intricacies of the sport. But the actual gameplay feels like too much of a nebulous gray area between arcade and simulation, and both the presentation and the features set are lacking.
