A more-than-passable first effort from a studio more famous for its cricketing output - yet presentation and longevity issues make it less excellent, more AO-K. [Issue#150, p.91]

AO International Tennis is like the guy that has the best clothes and racquets but when it comes to playing he does not hit a ball. Even though its foundations are great, the experience is ruined by its awful gameplay and physics with poor graphics.

AO International Tennis has an addictive ball hit system, but it lacks of depth on any other aspect. Poor game modes, limited competitions, total absence of commentators between points and an editor with few options to customize your player. Big Ant Studios tries hard, but that´s not enough to save their tennis simulator from mediocrity. And it´s a shame. This International should have been an update of the previous AO Tennis, instead of a new title. Tennis fans must keep waiting for a revolutionary title.

It could be better!....... But it's not. What I do really like about this game is that it has a lot of customization which is cool (even more than top spin). What I don't like about the game is that there was a huge learning curve at first, you have to hit the ball just right or it will always go out. Once you get the hang of it, it does make the game a bit more fun but the gameplay still needs improvement. Also the crowd is very quiet which makes the game feel very 'lonely'. I know that tennis is a 'crowd quiet sport' like golf but it's annoyingly quiet. The only time you really hear them is when you win a point. So for me it makes the game really boring to play. Overall it's an ok game. Not nearly as fun as top spin 4 but just ok. I can only play like one match at time before I'm bored and turn it off.

This game is the worst game I’ve ever played. I would really be skeptical of these high rated reviews on here because there is no way. I played topspin religiously and for the life of me I could not figure out how to play this game. The gameplay is not fluid and the mechanics are broken. The AI is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The game doesn’t teach you anything. If you’re looking to play tennis, this game isn’t for you. Don’t make my mistake. If you’re into customizing and stuff, I wouldn’t know why you’d want to do that in a tennis game. Seriously DO NOT buy this game. It is the worst money I’ve ever spent on a video game or on anything for that matter. What a rip off

I still can give this game score 7 to 8. + the graphic is really good + many options for licensed player can be used & customized + the crowd sounds real + customizable player & clothes - it still has bugs (career results, courts, rank/seeded)

AO Tennis suffers from a poorly-designed AI and a lack of depth in all that it has to offer. Easy to play but not difficult to master, it may please tennis fans looking for a game they can sometimes play with their friends.

Love this **** really brings the feel of the real Australian Open to life. The presentation, atmosphere and cutscenes really set the mood, readying you for the great gameplay. Players are so lifelike and i've had so much fun creating my own customizable player. Highly recommended!!

The wait for the first tennis game on the current console generation has not been worth while. The amount if content is decent enough, but on the court AO can’t deliver with its semi-automatic mechanics, overpowering serves and almost unbeatable backspin stops.

If you were hoping to find the heir of Top Spin 4, run away. AO International Tennis is a mess in spite of the 17 updates is has had since the start of the Early Access. With wacky gameplay, sub-android level graphics and very light content.

Australian developer Big Ant Studios double faults on its opening serve regarding tennis game developing; while we can appreciate the effort, AO Tennis lacks the level of polish, depth, variety and fun we'd been hoping for so long now. It's just another break opportunity lost miserably.

The tactics and tactility of a good tennis game remain amongst the purest of gaming experiences, but AO International Tennis is not a good tennis game. Overly complicated and bereft of any emotional resonance, the positive elements, including the detailed character creator, will likely be as swiftly forgotten as the game itself will.

AO International Tennis does not have any competition in this current market when it comes to tennis games, but AO Tennis lacks both refinement and variety that a good sports game should have.

With the new patch posted today the game totally changed. The career is now more fun to play, the gameplay is better and now there are new animations (and it's possibile to chose to serve or receive at the beginning of the match). It's now possible to train your character during the career or you can chose to play in a tournamente or let him/her rest (now there is a fatigue system). If you search for a perfect game it is not. If you search a good tennis game play it. P.s. The online is perfect, zero lag. My personal vote for this game is a good 8/10, i put a 10/10 in the review only to sustain the game becouse of the troll who gave it a 0/10 Sorry for my english and thanks for reading it

I can't believe how terrible this is. Awful physics, clunky animations, players not responding to commands correctly, bugs, crashes, not a sim not arcade... You will get frustrated. Frustrated because there are some cool things, like community sharing, logo / stadium editor, endless tools to create your tennis player and a bunch of tournaments in career mode. Unfortunately, everything else is a mess. I was expecting a mix of Tennis Elbow with Top Spin graphics (which is decent in this), but nope, not this time.

Most of the reviewers are spot on with their arguments. AO Tennis, or AO International Tennis now, is a huge mess. The build up to the initial AO Tennis release already went too far. The promise of ten years of data tracking became major bull when the first gameplay became available to watch on youtube. But the worst thing was the lack of any gameplay prior to the release of the game. It made buyers all over the world suspecious, and unfortunately all our worst dreams came true. As tennis fans (and players), you have an eye for the little details that make tennis authentic and real. The movements, the player ID, it's all off. Leg movement transitioning into a swing is way off, and the ball trajectory is absolutely ridiculous. I'll give this a 2 because Big Ant did try really hard to make it better. But this should have never seen the light of day. Hopefully, seeing as Tennis World Tour doesn't look all too promising either, some company will step up and do us tennis fans justice somewhat..
SummaryIt combines fully licensed, photo realistic players with a decade's worth of historical shot data that enhances their AI so that they play just like their real-life counterparts, right down to shot selection at any given point of time in a match. Comprehensive career, tournament and online play modes make this the most in-depth tennis ga... Read More
