The gameplay is very similar to the main game with only a little expansion. The connection to Control was a pleasant experience, diving deeper into the whole "Wake-verse", and expanding the FBC activiets in quite a digestible way.
The dlc's story could've been told better (more cut-scenes maybe) rather than lots of repeating notes, but it was not too bothering after all.

Good experience but I didn't love the protagonist. The quality and writing is overall ok but not really anything to write home about

I liked the dlc cause its really gives Resident Evil vibes and playing it was interesting but overall story is good but not impressive.

Just like in Control, Remedy makes the mistake in The Lake House of basing the narrative of this expansion on dozens of readable documents, which constantly breaks the game’s pacing. A shame, since otherwise this expansion is a clever blend of Control’s atmosphere and level design with the excellent shooting mechanics of Alan Wake 2. My score: ***

(DLC)

I may be extremely biased towards the base game but I feel this was a great conclusion to the game as far as DLC can get. Unlike the previous one which I liked as well but was a bit more on the hypothetical scale, this one feels like it has some actual impact on the big story. Same as previous DLCs including ones of the first game, and American Nightmare, this is very much a side piece - but still a very nicely told addition in this case. We get to play another side character from the main game which is a cool idea in itself, but here the game mechanics are mostly back to basics, but in a more structured and self contained form. We're going to traverse a certain lab as a FBC agent, it's relatively smaller than other areas of the main game, but - there are more than enough investigative material, puzzles, combat, and a good scare here and there to be busy with, with an eerie and creepy environment to get us in the mood. If you liked the original game there's not much NOT to like here. I have personally had much fun and completed it in around 3 hours. Very quick players could get it done in half the time, I guess. Perhaps the only complaints I could think of are that there was a bit too much of a reading in a bit unbalanced matter, felt a bit like Control in that sense, but cramming that much reading material can be tiring in such a short game content.
Also, it does feel like there's relatively more combat than in the base game, which I did enjoy but still felt was a bit too much towards the end, especially given this wasn't the most polished aspect of the game (wasn't bad either, but combat could get clunky at times). Anyway, wasn't too much of a hassle most of the time. So... yes, it's been fun, having played the entire series throughout the last ~1-2 years, my journey with Alan Wake is done for now (will hopefully come back for replay though). I'm waiting eagerly for more stuff to come, Remedy!

The DLC was enjoyable had had some fun and terrifying moments. It's not crazy impactful and didn't leave much of an impression on me but it isn't that expensive either.

Alan Wake II is one of my favorite games of all time. And this side adventure is solid crack at a small story with the Remedy polish. The setting and presentation is still elite and the writing is a little below my standard for them but well worth the short playthrough.

Alan Wake II: The Lake House expansion deepens the game’s eerie narrative with Agent Estevez, who explores a dark mystery tied to the Lake House. With new enemies, including terrifying creatures and a grenade launcher, gameplay remains tense and engaging. The DLC builds on Alan Wake's lore, tying in elements from the RemedyVerse, especially Control, and expands on the psychological themes of fear and creativity. It's a great addition for fans, offering more lore, thrilling action, and setting the stage for future expansions

In my opinion, the better of the 2 expansions. More similar to the main game in terms of story and gameplay. Does a good job in connecting the Alan Wake and Control storylines. And holy **** this expansion has some really creepy episodes

Very good addition with compelling story. It’s more of a Control expansion really and made me totally want to replay it. And can’t wait for Control 2!

Terrible dls in terms of gameplay and storytelling. Do you even care about the player's time? Why are you so lazy that you can only tell a story through a million notes. The entire passage of this supplement is literally reading one note after another. I regret spending the money on the deluxe edition.

Alan Wake II: The Lake House brings a noticeable improvement in storytelling over the previous DLC. The atmosphere remains impressive, fully capturing the eerie vibe Alan Wake is known for. However, it shares similar issues with its predecessor: it’s far too short, leaving much to be desired in terms of content. The new enemy type, while intriguing at first, quickly becomes repetitive and fails to add to the encounters.
Additionally, the new weapon—though marketed as a fresh addition—falls flat, as it’s only effective against this new enemy type, limiting its overall impact. While The Lake House is a solid addition atmosphere-wise, the lack of substantial content and engaging new mechanics prevents it from reaching its full potential.

Expansion that adds more to the main story than the first, which added more compared to other games. Quite immersive.

An extremely short experience that brings Agent Estevez front and center. The DLC will leave fans disappointed and craving more out of the content.

Mixed feelings on this one. I really like playing as Agent Estevez, she is a good character. I liked the puzzles and exploration in this DLC, but it added a lot the worst part of Alan Wake into it, the combat. The combat in Alan Wake is just not very good. Getting killed in 2 hits just doesn't feel right, especially after doing 90% of a combat encounter perfectly. There always seems to be some hitch or bs in the enemy movement that throws off one of your dodges, and that's it, you die. The Night Springs DLC was great and the combat there was fun, as it was more on the surreal side, but it was 10x better there. The story was good, but like Control I get a little tired of reading documents after a while. I think the base Alan Wake 2 game had a good balance, but this was a tad heavy on that for my taste. Lots of good dialog to go on top of the reading though, so it wasn't that bad. The overall story is fine, it didn't blow me away and isn't quite on par with the rest of the Alan Wake stuff, still solid though. A good time, but would have really benefitted from less enemy hordes, they are just not fun to fight. Also, the new enemy they added looks a bit like a generic $3 Steam horror game monster and I didn't think it was very good, but it at least was explained well in the story.

Alan Wake 2 The Lake House is disappointing. After the beautiful 2nd part, excellent additions of the first set, I expected much more from The Lake House. First of all, The Lake House fails to adequately convey the atmosphere of Control. Secondly, the main protagonist Kiran Estevez turned out to be a boring character that is not revealed in any way. The Lake House takes 3 hours and is unlikely to be remembered by anything except an unusual new type of boss coming out of the paintings. The finale is very crumpled and secondary. Personally, I hoped that The Lake House would be much cooler than the first DLC. But it's just a passing DLC, which doesn't really affect the history of Alan Wake and Control.

The supplement is excellent, gorgeous graphics, immersion in the story, atmosphere, sound, notes interesting. Too bad it's short, and the final boss made me sweat. Thank you Sam for the awesome game. It's in my golden collection now in cd edition

Fantastic addition to the Alan's universe. Great music and ambients. Like with first dlc I feel like there could be more content, but I still love that what I got. Really interesting idea for "experiments" in the Lake House. Now I just hope more people will play Alan Wake 2 and the next chapters (or even a few books) will be written by Alan

If it would be for free it is fun and well prepared content. But it is not. It is included in deluxe edition. You have to pay for it. I feel totally used after playing it for 1,5 hour without rushing it. I mean on op of that first DLC was complete, maybe not joke but completely "funny" DLC. So anyway big dissapointmentfrom such a perfect title as AW2 was.

Don't listen to the bad reviews, the DLC is excellent, much better than the last one where the weird woman talked the whole time. Very cool place, cool monsters and a good story. 10/10

These Alan Wake 2 DLC's are getting worse and worse. A prequel that adds nothing new to the game, and this feels more like Control rather than Alan Wake. You can skip this without missing anything important.

The lore and story is great but it is bogged down by a poorly balanced experience . There is a lack of health, the new monster is random and annoying if you have low health, and there are too many notes.
