Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Paul Ben-Victor, Nicole Ari Parker, and Jason Ritter also star, while guests include Laura Linney. Mundy also serves as showrunner for the series, which isn't adapted from any specific storylines from the comics but instead is structured as a murder investigation that draws elements from throughout Green Lantern's history as well as from TV shows including True Detective (which Mundy once produced) and Slow Horses (which shares a director, James Hawes, with this series). What once began as a Greg Berlanti-produced, Finn Wittrock-starring Max original back in 2019 finally emerges from seven years of development as an HBO-branded series (also streaming on HBO Max) today with its first of eight episodes.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth  Comedy/Drama/Thriller: The first film in 30 years to be written by Quentin Tarantino but not directed by him, The Adventures of Cliff Booth finds Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role as the titular Hollywood stuntman that he first played in Tarantino's 2019 hit Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Taking over as director is David Fincher—yes, that means that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are composing the score—and he'll have a cast that also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Holt McCallany, and Pitt's fellow OUATIH returnee Timothy Olyphant. Netflix will also bring the film to IMAX screens for two weeks starting at Thanksgiving.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone  Trailer Drama/Fantasy: HBO's TV series reboot of the popular film/book fantasy series begins with an eight-episode adaptation of the first novel (with this season's title echoing the original UK version). The adaptation comes from Francesca Gardiner (Succession, His Dark Materials), who also serves as showrunner for this first season. While you won't recognize (yet) the names of its young stars, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, familiar faces in adult roles include Janet McTeer (playing Minerva McGonagall), John Lithgow (as Dumbledore), Paapa Essiedu (as Snape), Nick Frost (Hagrid), and Katherine Parkinson (Molly Weasley). Mark Mylod (Succession, Game of Thrones) directs multiple episodes. A second season, adapting Chamber of Secrets, is already in production, and only dismal ratings or an AI-driven apocalypse would seem to stand in the way of the show running for at least another five seasons beyond that.
