Season 2 proves that Ted isn't just a one-trick bear and the rest of the Bennett family can pull their comedy and emotional weight.

"Ted” hews toward a ‘90s comedic sensibility that’s not merely nostalgic but seeks to tap into the inner teenager that some of us never entirely outgrow. That might not qualify as high art, but in its unpretentious silliness, this Peacock comedy is still more than bear-able.

Ted is definitely more watchable in Season 2, more interested in character and story than it was in Season 1. But we just wish that, while Ted himself is pretty irredeemable, we got more growth out of John rather than just a series of gross shennanigans.

Ted” offers intermittent but not consistent laughs, and, at those one-hour drama episode lengths, it’s not worth viewers’ time.

The cast does what it can with the dusty material, with Giorgia Whigham a standout as Blaire, and there are some moderately entertaining moments and even a heartwarming scene or two, but with each episode extending past the half-hour mark (the pilot is nearly 50 minutes), there’s a lot of unnecessary material as the characters get involved in trite and predictable circumstances that are usually resolved just in time for the credits. Turns out “Ted” was a bear of its time, and that time was 2012.

Ted had the potential to be a heartwarming show with good coming-of-age stories — at least as heartwarming as a show about a pot-smoking, cursing, bigoted teddy bear could muster — but the episodes are drawn out by Seth MacFarlane-style gags to the point where we got bored.

Ted sets the scene in an introductory voice-over, saying that he was once a media sensation but “like every phenomenon, eventually nobody gives a s--t”. Which is exactly how you should feel about this series.

We need more "comfort tv". Ted is a delight the intro music just sets you in a relax mood and the cursing from a cute teddy bear does the same. My wife does not like Family Guy or South Park, but in "they rent a porno episode" had her gutterally laughing. No real critic is going to put their stamp of approval on something like this, but this was the one show I was excited to be in our rotation, too bad it was only 8 episodes. Hopefully it doesn'tgo down like the Oriville.

The first 5 episodes are great. Lot of fun. What you'd expect out of McFarlane vehicle. The only problem is Blair and her gf. Insufferable characters that are completely out of place in 1993. I get the dad is a Bunker-type, but seriously, free room and board and in return total disrespect and disregard for his opinions and views stunted as they are. Blair is always right and there's no room for dissent. I went to college in 1993 and this woke **** wasn't a thing. Episode 6, case in point. They created the embodiment of woke - point of view that reacts with violence if you disagree. The dad had to bend over and kiss her ass and she gave nothing. Even after he apologized, she forced him to add her gf. It ruins the show. Get rid of Blajr and this is a great show.

As a big fan of the Ted films, I was very disappointed by this series. The Ted character is everything I hoped, and the actor playing John was true to Mark Wahlberg's character in the films. If they were the whole show, I would be giving this a 9. However, those characters are almost a side show to the interplay between Matty, a stereotypical father in the 1980s/90s, and Blaire, an entitled super-liberal niece that lives above their garage. The problem is that the writing for Blaire takes attitudes, norms, political ideologies, and expressions of someone born after the 90s and puts her into a time machine back to 1993 to aggressively confront the attitudes and norms of that era without even a shred of respect or acknowledgement of what our society was like back then. Simply put, Blaire would have been raised in the 70s/80s, but the character has nothing in common with a Gen Xer of the era, and instead behaves like a bratty, entitled Gen Y that does not understand where any of the other characters are coming from. The show could have been a hilarious comedy, but is instead a social commentary on how much our norms and values have "advanced" since 1993, and it is sad indeed. I'm giving it a 4 for the 40% of the show that was devoted to the bong-filled antics of Ted and John.

This is so ahh. I know this is a show before the event of ted and adult. But trying to buy cornography films and trying to smoke cr@ck, then get laid at a YOUNG AGE is crazy. Dont waste ur time on this

Show has some good moments but for someone who grew up in the 90s all the “woke” stuff never existed. The show spends two episodes on identity politics and get ready for some lesbian scenes. They also don’t spend a lot of time on John and Ted. Stick to the movies this one is a bust. Time to go back under a rock.
