As compelling as TGH aspires to be, and often is, it can’t seem to decide what aspect of its storytelling to emphasize, instead leaving it all in there, resulting in eight episodes of television that feel as overstuffed as a 19th century socialite’s skirt.

The show is the most palatable of binges, the kind where the stakes are high-ish but not completely devastating. And the series treads that line of not upsetting anyone too much. It fosters concern, sure, but does not create attachment to its characters or story. .... But implausibility unfortunately hovers over this show.

The show (and even the main character, at times, despite Chad’s gentle, affected drawl) is mean as shit. And it doesn’t even have the decency to be funny about it.

The competing themes in this story are as timely as they are beautifully rendered: On one hand, there is protection—and on the other, fate.

Maybe Ransom Canyon’s more vibey elements are all that matter to the show’s intended audience anyway. .... If they do notice the themes echoing through the show—the dubious ethnic representation, say, or the stagnant gender politics—maybe these things can be brushed aside as they watch a woman almost have it all, if only one mopey man could see her worth. But that doesn’t make it any less of a bummer.

A Man On The Inside works because it balances its resonant, evergreen themes related to companionship and aging with measured doses of humor and, indeed, plenty of charm.

[Time Bandits] brings the laughs I had expected from Palin & Co., addresses some narrative inconsistencies, and comes with a great cast.

If comedy like this makes you cringe pleasantly, it’s worth digging into Foodtopia. If not, excuse yourself. Sausage Party’s sequel isn’t bland, but it leaves much to be desired in its wake.

The show, which premieres June 16 on MGM+, is, in fact, pretty bad. It’s the kind of thing you could probably watch and enjoy just fine if you yourself were on cocaine.

Even as a few characters feel underdeveloped and some of the drama here feels a little forced, there is a lot to enjoy about Queenie. And many of the actors seem to bring their full hearts into their roles.
