Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U10
Nov 21, 2014
Gaming is about having fun. That is what Super Smash Bros. for Wii U delivers, unlike a lot of other major game releases this year, which have been major disappointments this year. Smash Wii U is a breath of fresh air, and there is so much to do that I know i'll get hundreds of hours out of the game.

The Wonderful 1019
Nov 10, 2014
THE GOOD: Its beautiful to look at. The story starts off somewhat simple but evolves into a very deep story full of plot twists. The amount of variety in attacks makes for excellent replay value. The game uses the gamepad very well Excellent voice acting for most characters. Insane bosses that are some of the most fun and memorable boss fights i've ever experienced in a game. Its challenging even on the easiest difficulty. Its got a decent amount of length, not really a short game. The characters are cool, even if they are somewhat of comic book stereotypes. There is a lot of strategy required. You cannot simply mash a button to win in this game. THE NOT-SO GOOD: There is somewhat of a learning-curve you may need to adjust to. Sometimes in rare cases the screen will zoom out of place on the characters so that they are hard to see. Wonder-Green has an annoying voice lol This is a must own for Wii U. MUST BUY!

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception9
Nov 10, 2014
THE GOOD: I have seriously gotten sick of shooters that are only fun online and not offline. Uncharted 3, however, has both an extremely satisfying campaign and fantastic online. The single player is an extremely immersive story. Its a wild ride from beginning to end. The graphics are truely fantastic, not because they are realistic, but because they're simply visually appealing. Online is a fast paced frenzy with very athletic moves that can be done. Shooting mechanics are highly responsive. It seems like a very competitive online community so be prepared for a challenge. The game is polished to the max it seems! THE BAD: There is a part of me that kinda wishes that the campaign was longer. Uncharted 3 is perhaps the best non-open-world shooter of the 7th generation of gaming. MUST BUY! MUST OWN!

New Super Mario Bros. Wii9
Apr 29, 2014
THE GOOD: Mario's sidescrolling adventures have always been brilliant, but they never were strong in the co-op department. This game changes that. Being able to go through levels with friends is even better. But this is an experience that is fun both alone and with friends. Level design and graphics are improved from the original NSMB on the DS. The game is visually appealing from beginning to end. Boss battles have more variety. The final boss is one of the best boss battles ever in a Mario game. THE BAD: Why stop at 9 worlds? I wish there were even more of them to play through. A level builder would've been really cool as well. And I guess there is also a part of me that wishes there was an online mode. Overall, this is a quality game that i'll likely enjoy for years to come. MUST BUY! MUST OWN!

Pokemon Emerald Version10
Dec 18, 2013
THE GOOD: This is one of the best pokemon titles of all time. Colorful and beautiful art style. The game has quite a long length. The battle system is satisfying. You can once again customize your team with the hundreds of Pokemon available. Map layout is designed brilliantly, and features a wide variety of climates and areas. There is an added Battle Frontier mode after the main story in this version that can also be fun to play. THE BAD: There are similarities to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Not a lot of changes. There is a lack of animations compared to other RPG games of this era. The third generation of pokemon games was highly overlooked. This game is a MUST BUY! A MASTERPIECE!

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem7
Dec 18, 2013
THE GOOD: The puzzle-solving gameplay is quite satisfying. Nice cartoony art style. Very clever puzzles and variety of ways to solve them. A lot of levels, including a challenge mode. There is a mode that allows you to make your own levels and share them with friends. Music is very catchy and fun to listen to. Great use of the DS touch screen controls. The BAD: It can get a bit repetitive. Somewhat light on story as well. I'd say it is worth a buy. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable.

Fighter Destiny 29
Nov 11, 2013
THE GOOD: This is an underrated fighting game that is one of the best that the N64 has to offer. A great cast of characters, nice graphics, good soundtrack, responsive controls, and a large variety of game modes, on top of an already polished experience. You can get a lot of enjoyment out of this title, and it has aged better than many other fighters of the same generation. Heck, its even better than the original Super Smash Brothers! THE BAD: There could have been just a bit larger character cast, Underrated fighting game that satisfies. WORTH BUYING!

Twisted Metal (2012)4
Nov 11, 2013
THE GOOD: The single player has a couple levels that are fun enough that you can play them multiple times. It gives a reasonable challenge with a controls scheme that works. The Story mode has cool stories that go through each of the main characters. Maps are large with lots of stuff that is destroyable. Single player boss battles can be fun to fight. THE BAD: The single player is hugely lacking in content and is not particularly very long. The game lacks many characters that were in previous Twisted Metal titles. Graphically, it looks dull. Online just isn't really worth playing. Connection issues are constant and its annoying to wait such a long time for matches that can be short. There are some glitches that can be annoying as well. And sometimes the game just isn't fun to play at all Its was good to see Sweet Tooth and others return, but it just didn't live up to the hype that it was given, due to its barebones experience both online and offline. SKIP IT! But at least I can get my hopes up that Twisted Metal on the PS4 will be a better game.

Super Mario Sunshine10
Nov 11, 2013
THE GOOD: This 3D platformer is very original. Its a main series Mario title that actually has a real story! The gameplay usually involves Mario using a water jetpack named FLUDD to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Level designs are fantastic and are all built around one big island. The levels are varied, including beaches, hotels, airstrip, a volcano, a theme park, and many others. Voice acting and music are surprisingly great. The game rewards you for exploration. Its a very satisfying experience. Plenty of shine sprites to collect so plenty to do in the game. THE BAD: Hmm, surprisingly, I really don't have much bad to say about this game. Sure, i'll admit that it lacks the impact on the gaming industry that Super Mario 64 had, but thats really about it. This is a MUST OWN! MUST BUY! One of the best games that the platforming genre has to offer.

Super Smash Bros.5
Nov 11, 2013
THE GOOD: Fluid combat, start of a fantastic fighting game series. The game is memorable in its own right. THE BAD: This game simply hasn't aged as well as its sequels on the Gamecube and Wii. It also lacks the large amount of content and game modes of its successors. The character cast is also barebones compared to them. This classic title can admittedly be fun for a few hours, but it overall lives in the shadow of its superior sequels. I guess I could say its worth either borrowing or renting.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl10
Nov 11, 2013
THE GOOD: This is a fighting game that simply gets everything right. The cast of characters are all fun to play as (except for olimar, who is kinda weak). The characters are all diverse and unique. That goes for even some of the characters who were clones in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The total this time is 35 and they added in some great new characters. Ike from Fire Emblem, Lucario from Pokemon, Toon Link from The Legend of Zelda, Pit from Kid Icarus, and many more. They even added in Sonic the Hedgehog and Solid Snake. It was a genius idea to add them in because 3rd party characters can create endless possibilities for the series. Visually, the game is beautiful. Many characters take on a more realistic look than they did in Melee. Stages are better than ever, and theres over 40 of them this time around! There is even a stage builder now, which allows you to get creative with your own **** new story mode, The Subspace Emissary, is a blast to play as well. There is the classic single player mode and 2-player vs modes, but also the special brawl which is more fun than ever. You can customize vs. matches further than ever. I mean, who doesn't want to play in crazy matches like "Super giant invisible whatever" fights? There are endless amounts of things to collect in the game, from stickers to trophies to cds. Decades of gaming history is in this title. The soundtrack is huge and fantastic! They even added in fighting online, which can be pretty fun too! The best thing about this game however, is that on top of its amazingly varied fighting gameplay, there is an insane amount of content in the whole package. The replay value is infinite. And its a game that can be fun both alone and with friends. THE BAD: The online can be a little laggy at times. Some great characters from Melee unfortunately didn't make it into brawl. They are Pichu, Mewtwo, Young Link, Dr. Mario, and Roy. Perhaps the best fighting game ever. MUST OWN! BUY IT!

Grand Theft Auto IV6
Nov 2, 2013
THE GOOD: Niko is a cool character. The map has some cool landmarks that can make it interesting. Map can be fun to explore. THE BAD: There are a large amount of issues in this game. The cars control badly, like slippery boats. The game definitely looks like an X360 game but graphics are still not all that visually pleasing. The game removes so much from GTA San Andreas. San Andreas had mountains, countrysides, deserts, small towns, and big cities. GTA IV, on the other hand, is just one city. Gun mechanics could be much more responsive. Way too many cops in this game, which can limit freedom to do crazy stuff. There are performance issues that are annoying. For example, when you drive fast, sometimes you can run into invisible objects, which are textures that have not appeared yet. Cheat codes are also hard to access at critical times because they are put in the in-game phone. When you are trying to put in a cheat code a cop can shoot you and make you automatically put the phone away. It is extremely annoying and once again, limits freedom. There are only a few outfits available to change your character into, which is a disappointment because San Andreas allowed you to change clothes, haircuts, and tattoos in a variety of ways. GTA IV just doesn't do the one thing that is necessary for an open-world game, ALLOW FREEDOM. Very overrated game. At its best, it can be worth renting to enjoy the things it does get right. Rent it.

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two3
Nov 2, 2013
THE GOOD: The graphical style is beautiful. Cutscenes look nice. The game features decades of Disney history. Voice acting is spot-on. THE BAD: The gameplay is very unsatisfying. You solve puzzles with the magic brush and they are not clever or enjoyable in the least. Loading times can be extremely long. The story is not nearly as good as the original. The game map is hard to get through and confusing to say the least. Finding your next objective can be a pain. There are sidequests but they are boring and not much **** use of time. Wii U version has slowdown in many areas. There are many times where you have to repeatedly collect items but in order to finish these missions you have to enter and exit the same area over and over and collect the items. It can be tedious and truely annoying. This game is truely awful and not worth playing. SKIP IT!

Xenoblade Chronicles10
Nov 2, 2013
THE GOOD: This is (as of now) the best rpg game i've ever played. It has an intense original story full of plot twists and emotion. The ending was absolutely perfect. The characters are a memorable bunch. Voice acting is fantastic. The world is extremely large, full of wide open spaces with a high amount of variety, from grasslands to jungles, snowy mountains, cliffsides, and countless others. The game truely takes advantage of the wii's power and the scope is insane. Its not the best visually, but the character models and environments are still noticeably detailed in such a large open-world game. Battle system is innovative and completely upgradeable. Characters are completely upgradeable. You can change any one of the 7 character's clothing any way you see fit while adjusting their stats. The game has a seemingly unlimited amount of sidequests to do. The replay value is large and a single playthrough can often take a minimum of 70 hours for the average player. The soundtrack is one of the best i've ever heard. Every piece of music is memorable. THE BAD: This isn't a big deal but it would have been cool to see online multiplayer options. It also would have been good if sidequests had cutscenes or voice acting. This is literally about as perfect as a game can possibly be in my opinion. Absolutely phenomenal title. The best game ever released for wii. PERIOD. MUST BUY!

Just Cause 210
Nov 1, 2013
THE GOOD: This game literally lets you play anyway you want. It has the largest and one of the most beautiful open-world maps ever. You can explore over 400 square miles of jungles, cities, villages, mountains, and deserts. The map is highly detailed and features dozens of easter eggs to check out. The games environments are absolutely beautiful. There are around 7 story missions (which are all very fun) and many many side missions (99% of them are really fun). Then of course there is the option to cause chaos all over the fictional country of Panau. You can conquer hundreds of military bases, villages, and city areas. The amount of destruction you can cause is stunning. The amount of stunts you can do with the many vehicles are amazing. This is literally the ultimate stunt game. The voice acting is fantastic. It is a very polished game with only a few minor glitches. The PS3 version has a feature allowing you to upload gameplay straight to youtube. The grappling hook and parachute combination allow you to easily travel through the game's large map. THE BAD: The character models in the game are not the best looking. The story can be predictable and somewhat generic at times. There is unfortunately no online modes. The game often requires the player to kill many enemies but there is no real reward for killing them. Causing chaos can sometimes get repetitive. It is one of the best games ever made! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Must buy!

Grand Theft Auto V10
Oct 30, 2013
THE GOOD: This entry in the series fixed literally every issue I had with Grand Theft Auto IV. They fixed the car controls so that they actually control like cars instead of slippery boats. The overall character control is better. Better, more appealing visual look. Better hand combat. Better weapons. The map is a lot better than IV. It has a variety of area types, including mountains, countrysides, little towns, and desert. You have the element of choice when you do missions by changing between the 3 characters. Heists are extremely fun too and you can plan them out. Very polished. Few glitches. Large amount of side activities to try including marathons, street races, yoga, golf, and tennis. These activities have surprisingly responsive controls and good physics. Interesting story. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor are the most interesting characters in GTA history. An extreme attention to detail covers this game. An extremely large amount of customization to cars is available. The 3 characters also have a lot of clothes, haircuts and tattoos that can be applied to them. There are 3 alternate endings to the game, which adds a large amount of replay value. You can spend hours and hours on the single-player alone. They also fixed the cheat code system so that they are much easier to use and access. The online multiplayer has had issues at launch but they are not too annoying. The online component of the game allows much more customization of your own character. You can still freely explore the open-world and do every activity that the single-player has, but you can get a real challenge online. There are traditional team deathmatch gunfights that you can participate in, along with a variety of vehicle races. Both the single player and the online are truly great experiences. This game will only get better as they fix online issues and add more content, including huge story DLC packs. THE BAD: There are a few small issues. There are still a few occasional pop-in textures, but luckily they are not game-breaking like they were in GTAIV. While there is a lot of customization, it is still not as customizable as many games are in the Saints Row series. Online can occasionally be buggy, as sometimes AI-controlled vehicles and citizens act strange or can disappear completely. This game is one of the best games of this generation and is an absolute MUST-BUY.
