55 hours played at the time of this review. Basically, the main reason I am still playing the game is because the loot hunt and upgrading the weapons/gear/ships is fun, but this feels like a game designed in 2011 and released in 2023. It's honestly kind of embarrassing Bethesda has not tried to improve their formula considering the games that have come out in more recent years. As is, this game is a 7 out of 10 at most, with a chance for improvement from either mods or Bethesda themselves (already using various interface and QoL mods that improve the game, but Bethesda doesn't get credit for work they didn't do, but that modders could do in less than a week). I can't believe anyone rating it a 9 or 10 out of 10 is being honest about the game, and may just be willfully ignoring all the faults that it has. It has so many issues when compared to modern games from the past 5 or so years, which is fine, I think it's a 6.5 and I'm still mostly enjoying it, but that doesn't mean I can't be honest about the technical shortcomings of the game. Pros - Combat is fun. Not as good as a dedicated shooter, but compared to previous Bethesda RPG's it's excellent. - Weapon and gear customization is fun - Exploring around the world dungeons and buildings is fun, although there are plenty of times where there is a large distance between waypoints and traveling on foot (jetpack is the same speed) gets old - Ship upgrades and building are pretty fun - Being able to hijack ships seems neat, but so far seems not worth it since you barely make any money on them, unless you somehow find an awesome ship Cons - The inventory system is TERRIBLE. - Very poorly optimized. - Lots of loading screens, even to small rooms with little inside them. - Bethesda style dialogue, which means usually mediocre writing while staring at an NPC talking at you. - The game doesn't really feel like you're exploring space, more like you're exploring zones. - Dated character models and animations. This game does not look up to quality for a AAA 2023 title. - Limited graphical options on PC. - The explorable areas don't generally feel 'alive'. In general the open world does not feel 'real' or 'lived in'. - The amount of different types of ammo is kind of annoying, less so that there are so many, and more so that some ammo seems MUCH harder to find than others. - Most of the sidequests are just fetch or kill quests (some forcing you to go back and forth between planets or systems), with a few good ones sprinkled in. - No Ultrawide Menu support. Many games don't have it, but it's still a con. Hell, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has UW menu support. Also no UW cutscenes. - Often companions and NPC's talk over each other, and at times companions talk over themselves, like when they are talking to each other but then a second dialogue happens with one of them talking to me at the same time. - No on planet transportation options. After a while travelling on foot everywhere gets old when there are large distances to cover (the boost pack doesn't seem any faster than on foot) - When coming out of a load, when on keyboard at least, if you try to move too soon it will not register, and you need to release and re-press the key before you can move. - You can wait 24 hours for vendor resets to sell more things, but each hour you wait take 3-4 seconds. You have to sit there for over a minute waiting for something that there is no reason to wait that long for. - On the ship there are times when the companions block passageways and it is difficult to get them to move. - The game has been mostly bug free for me so far, but there have been plenty of glitches, stuff like doors not be where they're supposed to be, teleporting NPC's, having dialogue with shipping containers as the NPC is on the other side, etc.... - 30 fps menus and UI elements I am enjoying the game overall, but there are a lot of issues, the largest one being performance. There are times I struggle to get over 60 FPS in areas with a mix of Medium and High settings AND FSR2 on. (5800X3d, RX 6800, 32gb 3600, PCIe 4.0 m.2, 3440x1440). That is the main reason that for now, even though I enjoy the game overall, and because of all the issues I listed, I can't recommend others get the game until AT LEAST the performance is improved in patches. That said, Todd just had an interview where he said the game IS optimized, and anyone having problems just needs to get better hardware, so...

Love it. I only ever played Jet Set Radio and not Jet Set Radio Future, so I can only compare it to the first (I saw people say BRC is closer to JSRF). In JSR I always hated how slow I was when not grinding, and BRC alleviates that. Yes, on the ground you're not fast, but you're not slow either, and you can build a good bit of speed with leaning into grinds for boosts, the jump boost and the boost pack that uses fuel. I am really enjoying the gameplay, especially after figuring out the manual button (right trigger) to help keep combos going and how to do boost tricks (hit the boost button then a trick right after). The game is a lot of fun, and is super easy to run. (I average around 475 fps at 3400x1440 with max settings and my RX 6800. The soundtrack is awesome, the gameplay is awesome, the visuals are awesome... Just an awesome game. I've heard some people complaining the game is too short (around 15 hours?) or too expensive for an Indie game ($40). But really, there is no reason an Indie game needs to be ultra cheap just because it's not a AAA game, especially considering how many AAA $70 games come out unfinished and busted, while BRC has no issues I've noticed or heard of. On top of that, games like Spider-Man Remastered only took me under 20 hours to beat, play all the DLC's and collect all the collectibles and Ratchet & Clank: ARA is only around 10 hours, and both of those games sell for more than BRC does. Just because they're AAA games it's okay for them to charge a lot and be short, but it's not okay for BRC to be around 15 hours while still charging less? Pros: - great soundtrack - great visuals - no performance issues or bugs I've seen - really fun gameplay - trick/combo system works well - character changes aren't reset when you quit and load back into the game (don't need to change characters all the time if you want a specific one) - Ultrawide support in menus and general gameplay Cons: - would be nice to have a dance pad in the home base (for changing characters) - camera can get wonky at times when moving fast around corners - combat is pretty 'meh', but at least it's not frustrating - no Ultrawide support in cutscenes

This DLC makes a great game even better. * Three new characters with multiple movesets * New moves for all the old characters to allow them also to be customized * A 4th hidden character to go along with the three new characters * A very fun and highly replayable Survival mode * New songs * New weapons and enemies (enemies from previous games) All for just $8, which is kinda silly considering the amount of work just needed for the additional animations for the old and new characters. And then the free update adds in even more stuff: * Excellent training mode, which also has tips and training on how to play the characters that can show people that the combat system is deeper than just mashing the punch button * Palette swaps so multiple of the same character can be used in multiplayer * Mania+ difficulty for people that are into that * Balance changes and other updates/fixes It's a fantastic DLC that just adds to what I already considered the best SoR game. Opinion obviously, but I just enjoy SoR4 more than I remember enjoying the old SoR games I played as a kid on my Sega. Part of it is I'm not really nostalgic for the old school graphics and animations (which I thought were fine back then), I much prefer the smooth hand drawn style of SoR4. It would have been nice if they'd added native support for online 4 player, but that can still be done with Steam Remote Play or Parsec. Before the DLC the game probably wasn't at 10/10 level, but after the DLC, I think it's closer to a 10 than it is to a 9.

*currently at 80 hours played, 1st full playthrough was 45 hours, but I was skipping a lot of side content planning on my 2nd playthrough being the 'real' one* This game has its issues, but at least for me the bugs and glitches haven't been more than annoying, and they've gotten better with the patches CDPR have put out. My worst problem was that I was getting a lot of crashing, but after troubleshooting that turned out to be either because of my GPU or the overclock I had on the GPU. (I ended up replacing the card and borrowing it to a friend, i haven't had a crash in 30 hours, he was crashing as we were setting the card up in his system until I removed the OC and left it stock) Despite the issues the game has, I am having a ton of fun with it. The gameplay is fun, I love how relatively real the characters in the game feel (especially how they randomly call and text you), I like the loot/craft/upgrade systems in the game, I enjoy the monkeying with the fashion of my character despite the game mostly being in 3rd person, great customization as far as character builds, the story isn't AMAZING but it is engaging and a lot of the side-quests and Gigs are really good, the game looks gorgeous (playing on an RX 6800 with mostly maxed settings, a few things that don't make a visual impact but do make a performance impact turned down), the world feels dense and alive... I just really enjoy this game, despite the flaws, and if the glitches and bugs are ironed out I would give it a 9/10. Some things that I would improve on... I like the 1st person view in a lot of the cars, but many have so much crap sticking out of the hood it's hard to see. Vehicle/clothes/gear customization. Being able to change V's appearance in game, even if just by a haircut. Improve traffic AI. Probably some others I'm not thinking of now, I don't think any game is a perfect 10/10, despite how often review sites throw that score around, glossing over issues with games or even dropping scores for things that has nothing to do with the game itself (like politics, racism issues or gender equality/freedom). Update: Currently at 117 hours in, finding tons of stuff I missed in previous playthroughs, being impressed with the detail the game has and how certain choices can make you completely miss things in the game or cause some events to never happen. I still haven't been really affected too much by bugs and glitches beyond some minor annoyance. Definitely a solid 8/10 game that for me is now creeping towards a 9/10 even with the bugs and glitches just because of everything I've found in more playing time that I'd missed or not noticed before.

Wasteland 39
Aug 31, 2020
This game is fantastic, it only came out 4 days ago and I already sunk over 40 hours into it without realizing. Basically, it continues from Wasteland 2 as feeling like a 'true' Fallout 1 and 2 successor, so it would basically be Fallout 1 -> Fallout 2 -> Wasteland 2 -> Wasteland 3 (I don't count Fallout Tactics). The RPG elements, choices and consequences, dark humor and setting FEEL like the original Fallout games, and the combat has changed from Wasteland 2's initiative based system to something more like the modern XCOM games, which I think feels a lot more fun in practice. My only real complaint about the game so far is the loooong loading times even on a PC with an M.2 SSD, Ryzen 5 3600 and 16gb DDR4-3200 RAM. I also kinda wish character models didn't suddenly lose their hair/go bald when you put hats on them, maybe that is something that can get improved on with a patch or mods. Fantastic game though.

XCOM: Chimera Squad5
Apr 26, 2020
It feels like a stripped down version of XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, which I guess is okay for the price, but my main gripe is that instead of feeling like I'm leading a badass squad of special agents into combat, the voices and writing make me feel like I'm leading a group of smart-ass college kids out to see who can make the best quips. The feel of this game is more Saturday morning cartoon than intense tactical shooter partially because of it. The artwork used for character portraits, dialogue scenes and cutscenes also looks kind of low budget and I think it would have been better to just use the in-game character models, which look much better. The first thing it brought to mind was 'Battleborn' with it's janky looking intro video and artwork, honestly. (just as far as the art style goes) For the current sale price of $10 US I guess it's okay if you turn off the voices, but if you're looking for XCOM action similar to XCOM 2 or War of the Chosen, this ain't it.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries6
Dec 12, 2019
I am having fun with the game (more fun when playing with my friends in my lance), but it just feels unfinished in general, and there are a lot of seemingly simple and obvious things that could have been done to make the game better. And as someone else I saw mentioned, they got many of the assets for this game from Mechwarrior Online, so they weren't starting from scratch, which makes how unfinished the game feels even worse. I can see my score going up easily with some basic improvements that probably should have been in the game from the start (better menus, better mission design, enemies that don't spawn behind you constantly and make missions feel like and endless gunfight, any customization to your character, be it name or portrait, company logo customization, having NPC's actually look at you when they're talking to you, players in your game at least being able to look into menus and loadouts of mechs as opposed to only being able to wander the ship and do nothing else, etc...) There is just a lot of basic stuff that needs improvement, but from what I gather from people who have been playing MWO and know PGI (developers), who knows if those improvements will be made. My bottom line is that the game was feeling a bit frustrating to me playing alone, is MUCH more fun with friends, but in the end it does not feel finished despite all the ready made assets PGI had from MWO to lessen their workload.

The Outer Worlds8
Dec 4, 2019
It's definitely a good game (I'd say 7.5 out of 10, so I'll give it an 8), but I'm already starting to lose interest in it after about 10-11 hours. I think some of the people screaming for 'Game of the Year' might be comparing it a bit too hard to previous Fallout games as opposed to other better story driven RPG's. Sure, compared to the more recent Fallout games, it's amazing, but compared to some of the other non-Fallout RPG's, Outer Worlds kinda feels like after I get used to the pretty environments all I'm doing is bouncing from one NPC to the other doing either fetch or kill quests with nothing in the story really hooking me and driving me to find out what's next. Sure, I'm only 10-11 hours in, but I would have hoped that by then there would be something that really catches my interest and makes me want to dig deeper, at this point I've started just skipping NPC's because I don't want to get **** into dialogue trees if they're just going to send me on uninteresting side-quests. The graphics are pretty good, with very nice environments, but while the faces and animations are a huge step up from the likes of Fallout, they still look a bit weird. There is a lot of gear and weapons that drop (lots of them just look like recolors though), and that can be a bad thing, as half the time I feel like I'm doing inventory management, and while I can upgrade existing weapons it almost doesn't feel worth it for how fast the game throws stuff at you. I personally prefer having a good piece of gear or weapon that I can keep for a long time over a having to figure out if the new thing that dropped is better every 10 or so minutes. Combat is pretty mediocre. The dialogue is well done, and I do like at times where I feel like I am making somewhat difficult decisions, but again, I am starting to just feel bored with the process of hopping from NPC to NPC to get more quests that are basically just either fetch or kill, the dialogue (which can't be skipped if you're reading ahead of the actual voice acting) isn't enough to make me really want to talk to the NPC's. I think at this point I may just try and bust through the main story as fast as I can before I completely lose my will to play the game.

Borderlands 38
Sep 30, 2019
It's basically Borderlands 2 but better in pretty much every (or at least most) ways. Better visuals, gunplay, movement, customization, etc... The only thing I don't know yet is if the story is better. So far, through 7 hours I like it, but we'll see. I'm also reviewing the game itself, not the launcher it's currently on, which I assume many are doing based on the overall user score I am seeing. I have also had zero technical issues with the game to this point. After finishing the game and starting another playthrough, I can definitely say the game itself is better than BL2, but the STORY isn't as good, and part of that is because the villains are nowhere near as good as Handsome Jack. The overall dialogue is also not as good as BL2. I am also not thrilled with how some of the old characters are treated in the story, but as far as the game itself, it's still excellent overall. Dropping my score from a 9 to an 8 because the story and characters were always a big component of what I liked about the Borderlands games, and while I still think BL3 makes the story in games like Destiny look like a joke, the story/characters/dialogue (and how old characters are treated, as I said before) are not up to par with Borderlands 2, even if everything else is better.

When it was leaked and then announced that Respawn was working on a Battle Royale game I was pretty disappointed and just assumed it would get swallowed up and have been a waste of time and money for the company. After it launched, I watched gameplay and saw how much fun people were having with it, so decided to give it a shot. Initially, I wasn't thrilled with the relative lack of mobility as compared to Titanfall, but Respawn gave valid reasons why they didn't include it, and technically this isn't a Titanfall game, just set in the same universe. It took a bit, but I got used to the lack of wall running and double jumping and am okay with it now. The gameplay is relatively fast, after getting used to the interface and how the game plays (never played a BR game before) it's pretty well laid out and not overwhelming, with a lot of quality of life features that streamline the experience to allow me to concentrate on the gameplay. The Ping system is also great, even useful when you do have mics. This really does feel like a labor of love from Respawn, as EA was not actually involved in the development aside from funding the game. Respawn wanted to make this and the effort they put in shows, I just hope they can continue to provide updates and content enough to keep the game going strong. As I see it, this game will just help to get more people introduced into the Titanfall universe, which will help whatever future Titanfall game Respawn decides to make.

Mutant Football League9
Aug 20, 2018
I am enjoying this game more than any football game I've played since ESPN NFL 2k5. As a base game itself it's really good and I'm surprised they decided to spoof pretty much all of the players on all the teams, as I was expecting just the bigger named players to be named and then generic players for the rest. Now, I am actually playing the beta version of the game on Steam that includes the Dynasty mode, and it is fantastic. It starts your team off with 40/100 stats across the board and you need to build the team up through playing experience, Free Agency, Trades or whatever else to get them to the Championship game by at least the 3rd season without ending the season $25 million in debt. You have to manage player salaries, costs for resurrecting players, your playbook, player stats and upgrades (very deep on this one). It is also quite challenging to start out on Normal difficulty in Dynasty, as I just managed to win my first game 11 games into the season (now 1-10), although I almost won a game before that but the winning FG got called back due to the other team having bribed the ref, and then I lost in OT... It is a ton of fun. Without Dynasty mode I'd probably give the game an 8, but with Dynasty mode (that seems to work just fine in the beta) I'm giving it a 9, and am looking forward to some planned updates the Devs have mentioned, like possibly being able to customize your team, as well as the new upcoming stadiums, teams and player types.

I've been loving the game so far, have about 7.5 hours in, plus the time I played in the Beta and the 30+ hours I watched streamed by other people in the weeks before release. This is the game I've been waiting for since MechCommander came out and I was disappointed it was an RTS instead of Turn-based, as I wanted a PC version of the tabletop game. This isn't exactly the tabletop rules, but it's a really good interpretation of it. I have also had zero crashes in my time played, so I cannot comment on that issue for the people that are having it. I backed this game when it was on Kickstarter and am more than thrilled with what HBS has produced.

Nov 20, 2017
I was looking forward to this game for a while, but then severely disappointed in the reviews and commentary I saw about the game, including how dull it looked and terrible the voice acting and story seemed while watching videos of it. That said, this weekend I got bored and decided to buy it anyway, and I'm happy I did. I've played 22 hours this weekend (a testament to how fun I find the game) and while I have had some performance hitches here and there, a few crashes and a couple glitches, it's not been enough to make me not want to just get into the game and play it. The story is dumb and most of the voice acting is terrible. I also don't care for how the drivers sometimes make comments while I'm driving in races, but when actually playing the game the story and voice acting isn't nearly as annoying as I thought it'd be watching videos. I also don't find any issue with the progression, as the only time I've had to grind races is when I've bought a new lower end car I want to build up to be better, and I have NEVER felt like I needed to spend money on crates, as I get plenty of resources by trading in cards, racing or just buying upgrades from the Tuner. If I wanted to avoid any grind whatsoever I could just go and buy a car from the dealership with a base rating as high or higher than recommended for a race, as money piles up easily (I usually have over 1 million in the bank at any time). I also find that you don't always have to match the rating of a race to win. I have beaten races while being over 30 ranks under the recommended level multiple times, although not all race types are as easy to do that with. I actually also enjoy the card system, as it gives me something to work for instead of just buying the best parts and being done with it, it gives me that loot grind fix (but it's not a bad loot grind). I like the driving model also, it's not realistic, but I can feel the difference between cars and I definitely have to tune some of them to get them to drive the best, like my drift car. The graphics looks excellent also, and I love the customization system, which was one of the things that pushed me to get the game, as I had loaded up The Crew again for something to play and was frustrated with the lack of choice on visual for some of the cars. All in all, it's a good game, and not nearly as bad as a lot of reviews make it out to be. I get the impression some of at least the more professional reviewers tried to blitz through the game/story as fast as possible to meet deadlines instead of just playing and enjoying the game, in which case I could see where they might have run into progression issues, especially if they didn't do a lot of trading in of cards they didn't want to just use card tokens to upgrade specific parts you want. I also wonder how many of the people posting reviews on here have actually played the game vs basing their opinions on other reviews or just hopping on the EA hate train. I dislike the things EA does, and fear for Respawn, who makes some of my favorite games, but people who just blindly hate on a game because of the publisher without actually playing the game (if that is indeed happening) should be ignored.

The last game i fell in love with like this was Witcher 3. Obviously very different games, but the way they blindsided me with how much I liked the story and gameplay is the same. Aside from really liking the single-player story of Titanfall 2, I am also finding that I enjoy the multi-player aspect a bit more than the first game. The tweaks they made to the game make it not quite as fast, but it feels more balanced to me with more options for different styles of gameplay. I don't think I'll stop playing the game this time like I did with Titanfall 1, this game just feels very complete and I feel like I now have goals to work for in multi-player with the new unlock system, instead of just working to get better at the game. While I am happy they won't be doing paid DLC for the multi-player, as that fractured the player base of the first game, I actually wouldn't mind some paid Story DLC expansions, which could be ignored by the people not interested and not fracture the multi-player community.

This was a good story, but it was not a good GAME. This felt like me guiding a character around on rails as I was told a story by the characters in it. I would not recommend this for $20, or the $18 I paid for it. I would recommend you either wait for a sale and it comes down to around $5, or just watch a Let's Play of it while holding a controller and pretending you're the one moving the character around. It took me 3.2 hours to complete this game, and that is with getting lost multiple times.

Okay, the Titanfall gameplay itself is really fun, and I enjoy playing most of the time, the place where the game falls apart is everything outside of the actual match. Every patch Respawn has put out for the game has either failed to address issues present since the game launched or made the game operate worse than it did before. Loading times have significantly increased since the last 2 patches, matchmaking does a terrible job of matching up team of even close to equal skill, and it can take 10-20 minutes at times before the game will even find an opposing team for you to play against, or will just drop you into a game that is basically already lost, count the loss against you and then break up your new team again because you lost so badly. The new DLC has also fractured the playerbase, making it even harder to find matches, uneven or at all, and Respawn has also removed easy access to CTF and Pilot Hunter game modes in what seems to be an attempt to drive players into playing the more popular modes to possibly help improve matchmaking, which it hasn't. The game itself is good, but everything surrounding the game, as well as lack of communication and support from Respawn drag this game down to the point that I am concerned I bought a game that will soon die due to lack of effort to keep it alive on the PC by Respawn. At this point I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

GRID 27
May 29, 2013
I enjoyed the bump in graphical quality, and how smoothly the game runs, but all the cutscenes and the single-player mode in general is a bit annoying. I also didn't like how the game seems to focus more on 1-on-1 races a lot more than Grid 1 did. Another mild annoyance I had was that despite the game looking better than Grid 1, the replays were much more fun to watch in Grid 1, likely due to better camera placement. All in all, it's a good game, but they took a lot out of it that I miss from Grid 1, like having my own team, ease of selecting the events I wanted to be in instead of feeling like I am shoehorned into only a few race options, the ability to buy my own cars instead of either just having them given to me or having to win them in challenges, etc... The driving does feel better than in Grid 1, but after a while, I kept just thinking I'd rather just go back and play Grid 1 instead of this game, which I don't think is what the developers were going for.

Basically everything that made Borderlands 1 great is done better in Borderlands 2, with even more stuff thrown in. This is a fantastic game. Also, I'm betting the people complaining that Borderlands 2 is JUST a console port haven't even played the game, as the interface is vastly improved for PC use over Borderlands 1, and many options are included to help PC users tweak the game to play how they like that were only accessible by modifying INI files in Borderlands 1.

A downside is that the game was not really ready for release, due to some bugs and features that are being fixed and added with regular patches, but the fact that the patches are pretty regular since the release mitigates that a bit. For $15 this game is a heck of a lot of fun, and either the 'professional' reviewers are hating on this game for some unknown reason or they just have some pretty unrealistic expectations. Great graphics, fun gameplay with a good amount of strategy, humorous dialog and story, regular content updates and patches and some pretty interesting game mechanics make this game MUCH better than what some of them are rating it. Of course, some of the reviewers bashing 'Krater' also think that 'Diablo 3' is fantastic, so take what they say with a grain of salt.

It's a fun game, with some pretty glaring problems. : PROS : -- fun gameplay -- seeing the finish of the story with the characters you've played with in the previous games -- cool guns and armor : CONS : -- buggy gameplay -- outdated graphics (at times worse than ME2) -- buggy visuals (invisible characters, constant clipping, bad animations, etc...) -- lack of content (2 explorable locations instead of multiple worlds and stations, most missions are short and to the point, less stuff to do outside of missions than either ME1/2, etc...) -- railroaded through the story without even the illusion that it's an open world game -- dialogue doesn't give you much option beyond BAD GUY/GOOD GUY -- every character in the game is presented to you on a platter, in the way that it might as well say "Do you want to sleep with this person? YES/NO" -- lack of mission depth (select mission, loading screen, kill stuff, loading screen, done) -- story important DLC provided on the first day -- Your decisions from previous games, and even this one, don't seem like they will matter, because most of the people that could have died in previous games aren't usable in this one and there are new characters anyway. It seems like they made the script for the game and decided how everything will end, and then looked at your past save to see how they could shoehorn any previous surviving characters into the game without disrupting the story. : : It's a good game, but not nearly as good as the previous two, and definitely not as good at the professional reviewers scores might lead you to believe it to be. The main reason to play this game is to see how it ends.
