I really saw this …. I’ll admit that I didn’t see it because I wanted to “like” it (I went in with opinions), but how can anyone view something like this objectively? Regardless of what political stance you take, almost any filmgoer with a pulse is going to find it dull. If it were a film about Michelle Obama and the resulting production were this uninteresting, I’d give that a 1 as well. This felt more like a screensaver or coffee table book in terms of the superficial level of detail—you really learn nothing about Melania of substance. And to be honest, I’m positive that there’s a lot more to her than this doc posits. Ratner really sells her short. To be clear, I’m not criticizing Melania or the current administration…I’m looking at the film. It makes no real effort to dig deep or move the needle about how you feel about her. There’s no arc. Documentaries are supposed to be investigative historical artifacts that compel, teach, and sometimes even entertain. This does none of those things.

A magnificent, incredibly bold experience -- dangerous and alive in the way so few films are right now. Sure, it'll infuriate, bore or upset the masses, but for the rest of us, Jennifer Lawrence is doing something genuinely risky and important here...cinema is better for it.
